Our entrees and sides were delicious. It was a bit pricey for the amount of protein in bimbop. The corn tea was excellent. Service was a bit awkward’ but the owner was friendly. We will return.

I read a review that said their food is bland. I don't know what the person ate because I've been twice now and everything was bursting with flavor and delicious. The first try I had the katsu. It was the best katsu I've ever had in my life and I have lived overseas (Guam, specifically). It was a perfect blend of crispy (but not soggy) on the outside and tender, juicy on the inside. The badchan was good, too. From my memory, we were given pickled radish, seaweed salad, and a pickled carrot/cabbage salad. Very good! Today I had the soy bean paste beef stew. It was boiling hot so wait for a few. Once it was cooled enough to enjoy, it was amazing. Badchan this time was kimchi (the best ever had), kelp/seafood salad, seaweed salad, and broccoli with a spicy sauce drizzled on top (yum!). My daughter got the fried octopus and I don't usually like squid/octopus but I tried it and I actually liked it! I might get it next time. Service was great. Our waiter was kind and attentive. They let us order more food to go because we were disappointed there wasn't any leftovers for later. This place is definitely moving up on my "favorites" list very quickly!

The food was really good. The food felt very authentic, but I would have preferred maybe a bolder flavor in general. My wife and I had the Korean Fried chicken and the Korean Short Ribs. The fried chicken has an amazing crunch and texture and the sauce is very good. The chicken might not be for everyone because of the unique flavor and mild-moderate spice, but was still quite good! The Korean short ribs were really good: very tender and delicious. The Soju was so dang good, I highly recommend it to any going there to drink alcohol!Overall, I think for a soft opening, it's a good restaurant, the prices are a little on the higher end, but the food is worth it since it feels high quality. The atmosphere is quite simplistic, but very nice. I like that everything looked/felt very clean.I'm really looking forward to trying their complete menu and sushi!

Perfect spot for a date night or celebration with delicious Korean food!My husband and I went for the soft opening. The restaurant was clean and the owners were very sweet! We had the Korean short ribs and the crunchy fried Korean chicken. Both were delicious! Short ribs were amazing and the Korean chicken has a unique breading and taste that could be divisive to some but I loved it! A bit of spice to it but not so much that you can't enjoy it. The short ribs came with a side of rice and then we had about four other sides brought out. Pickled kimchi cucumbers, a egg bake, and a few others! They offer an assortment of alcohol drinks and sodas/sparkling water.Restroom was also nice and very clean.I hope they had appetizers to the full menu in the future as that would be great with their drinks. It is on the pricey side for a Kokomo restaurant but it felt authentic and many dishes could easily be split, cutting the cost significantly. It has the quality and price point of an Indy restaurant with the home feel of a mom and pop shop (and right down in downtown Kokomo!) We plan to go back to try their other dishes! Also, great spot if you are dairy free as I am!*Photo is the crunchy fried chicken

Let me start by saying that “rating”is very subjective and depends on the person. I’m a bit of a foodie, so I believe I grade tougher. I don’t normally write reviews, but I believe this venue deserves one that is fair and the review that I give is what a Restaurant would receive in a major metropolitan setting .Very well prepared food with kind staff…Korean authentic!Delicious…. Soft opening limited menu but really good food!!!!Finally a restaurant that is as good as ones found in indy… i have high hopes for them!!!With the right tweaks they can turn it into a hot spot better than Taku… wrong tweaks and it will dwindle like every other worthy restaurant that unfortunately has withered way. we as a community need to endorse them and support them. Tonight I and my son both ordered bibimbap, with a soft menu, only a vegetarian option is available, which is not a big deal as we ordered Bulgogi and added it to it. Perfect.!!!! I would’ve liked to have had the stone hot bowl so that I could make the crispy rice but these are the exact tweaks that I’m talking about that would make this restaurant into top-notch joint… As it stands the owner and his wife have my heart!!! employees will learn & they are sweet. They are also learning the meals. Please give them a try.

I have been here twice since opening! Both times the food was amazing. If you want quality this is it. Every dish is fresh and full of flavor. Each time the chef has made variety small plates of kimchi and other assorted options. Tonight there was eggplant and anchovies. To be honest, I haven't had an eggplant or anchovy I have I have enjoyed until now. The chef there has a talent for balancing all of the flavors. The Bulgogi beef is delicious. Also, I have tried the grilled pork belly, the spicy pork stir fry, and the fried pork cutlets. They also have many vegetarian options. The rice is sticky and comes in the cutest bowl with a lid. You leave feeling full, but never bloated. They are working on expanding the menu, but it is clear they aren't rushing because they are focused on providing quality food. The plum wine is also delicious and one bottle is enough for two. The staff are so kind and they really bring the whole experience together. If you haven't tried it yet, you should give it go. I can't wait to see what they do next!

Let me tell you, the food was amazing-and they give you quite a bit! Read a review that complained of the price-but I found the price to be comparable to quality and amount of food. Everything is fresher and better than you imagined. Service is impeccable! So happy to have gone and will be returning.

A for effort, but the food was bland and a bit pricey for the quality level. I'm hoping this is because of the challenges of a startup. I didn't think the quality of the three menu items we shared, nor of the banchan were of professional quality. I suspect the person who designed the recipes does not have real world restaurant experience. They need to fix that in order to be successful. I fervently hope they do that because I really want them to be successful!!

Food was great, and service was even better. I enjoyed all of the small plate options. Our server made sure to explain the menu to us, so we knew exactly what to order. I’m so excited to see what else they will offer in the future!

I can’t comment on the food at all cause we never ordered. Let me preface this by saying I don’t write reviews ever but what happened to my wife and I was that bad.So we walk in obviously we had never been there before and were greeted with “do you you have a reservation” when we said no we were then asked if we were going to be drinking. This caught me off guard and I didn’t know how to respond so I said no. We were then told to sit wherever we wanted in the front room and someone would bring us a menu. I was a little put off but whatever. This is where it gets bad. We waited for over 25 minutes no one said a word to us asked for drink order or even as much as brought us a menu. During this time we saw over a half dozen other party’s come in without reservations greeted and taken to a seat (also without being interrogated)At this point we got up walked out and went for Mexican where I am writing this review. This was supposed to be a nice date night for me and my wife (she like that type of food I not so much) and unfortunately we will never go back and can not recommend this place to anyone. For a place that has just opened up you would hope they had better customer service

I so much wanted Sokuri to be good. A good Korean place in Kokomo would be a very good thing. They are still in soft start mode, and the menu is fairly limited so I will try to cut them some slack. They claim they plan to eventually have sushi and Korean BBQ, and I hope they do, but they don't right now.I can sum up our experience with Sokuri in one word – bland. In my experience, the word bland is not what one expects of Korean food. While I am far from being an expert in Korean food, I have eaten it in a number of restaurants, both in the midwest and on the west coast. I have also been to a few Korean places in Japan. All were pretty good. All were better than what we had at Sokuri. At Sokuri, the three dishes we requested were quite edible, but they tasted like they were either deliberately made bland so as to not offend the American palate, or they were made by an amateur cook who has no professional restaurant experience. Korean food is known for spiciness and bold flavors, including flavors from gochujang, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and gochugaru. None of those flavors came through in our dinner. Even the banchan was lacking in pizazz. And, I was surprised they did not have my favorite noodle dish on the menu, the very popular japchae, which is easy to make and flavorful. The first dish we ordered was bulgogi, a staple of many Korean restaurants and popular with Americans, because it involves steak. It is supposed to use a nice cut of beef like ribeye or tenderloin, providing a tender bite of well marinated meat. What we got was under-marinated and tough. It seemed to be both a tougher cut as well as overcooked. It was edible, but chewy and a bit dry, and not as flavorful as it should be.Second was a seafood tofu combo dish that contained shrimp, mussels and cuttlefish. The amount of tofu was generous and the seafood was not bad. But again the dish lacked flavor. It was under-seasoned, bland and not as satisfying as it could have been. It was just not really restaurant quality. Finally we had the pork tonkatsu, which was OK but unremarkable. The pork could have been a bit more moist, but the batter was good and it had decent flavor. Not “knock your socks off good”, but acceptable and the best of the three dishes. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the Korean lady who came around and offered explanations of the dishes and banchan. She seemed pleased that we had at least a bit of familiarity with Korean cooking. Our server was friendly and helpful, if a bit inexperienced with Korean dishes. I asked her if they had kimbap and I don't think she had a clue what that was. Finally, given the quality of the food, the pricing seemed a bit high. That could be a problem here in Kokomo where people are pretty price conscious. Certainly the quality of the beef in the bulgogi did not justify the price of that dish.I am hopeful that Sokuri is successful in the long run and they can figure out how to up their game. I suggest they get help with their recipes because at this point they are disappointing and in my opinion will not lead to enough return business for them to be successful. Perhaps if they get a good sushi chef they will garner more business, but because there are already three sushi places in Kokomo, relying solely on that strategy may not be enough. I wish them the best of luck. We really can use a good Korean restaurant in Kokomo!
