Old school steakhouse. Nice but not overly fancy so you can dress casual. The prices are reasonable for a steakhouse and the food was very good. Steaks cooked and seasoned perfectly. Shrimp dejoung was a great surprise and tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Would go back.

Have been going to McVeys for years!!! Can't beat their chicken or the perch!!! Love the side dishes of cole slaw and kidney beans... The staff is amazing. Have never been disappointed in the food or service.

Hadn't been there in awhile. Food quality definitely went down. They have food runners that were bringing out the food when it was ready if the waitress was busy. These were young girls that had no idea how to serve a person, one of the girls actually leaned over the round table we were sitting at to hand the plate of food to me across the table. The new York strip had no flavor. Not sure I'll go back.

Best deal in NWI? The $25 prime rib on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It's a massive cut of meat cooked to perfection and served with sides and warm bread. We dined here for lunch on Friday and the phone was ringing off the hook for reservations. My guess is the prime rib tends to run out early. While my husband had the prime rib, I had house made crab cakes and macaroni and cheese. The crab cakes were very tasty. Another good deal? The children's burger meal with milk and a side. It's a hand-formed patty served on a soft brioche bun with a side and a drink. This could easily serve an adult. The restaurant is fine and decorated nicely but it's clearly aged and a little stale smelling. Overall, though, it's a great place for lunch or that fantastic prime rib dinner.

This is the best deal in NWI, hands down. Our family of three had a great lunch of prime rib, crab cakes lunch, and a burger for $60. The kids meal is an absolute steal as the burger would easily satisfy a pre-teen and the hand-formed patties impressed us with it's quality. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and served with your choice of sides. I'm guessing you have to get there Fridays like we did, or early Saturday night because the phone was ringing off the hook for evening reservations. My crab cakes and macaroni and cheese were tasty and satisfying.

I ordered prime rib - they offered 16 or 24 ounce options. I requested med rare - it was perfect. Delicious and tender. The ice tea was freshly brewed and yummy. We were given a bread, basket, coleslaw, and kidney bean salad upon arrival. Dinner included soup or salad. The weight staff was delightful, and very attentive.

Wonderful. I've never had a disappointing meal at McVey's. The slaw and kidney beans you get as an appetizer are wonderful. Service is fast. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Love it.

McVey’s Restaurant is located on Commercial Ave., within the small town of Lowell, IN. Each visit I have been met with a fine dining experience. There is a main dining room and smaller bar room both of which are well suited with many tables. I would recommend making reservations especially on weekends to ensure a reasonable wait time. The food is quality supper club fare which starts off with complimentary cold salads of kidney beans, cole slaw & aewsome garlic bread basket. There is a substantial wine list to choose from as well as beer. Steaks, chops & chicken are main entrees but I find the cheeseburger to be the “best bang for your buck” at around $10.00. It is quite substantial and comes with a choice of potato as your side. Many locals frequent regularly as this is a fine mix between casual & upscale. It is a little hidden gem in the center of our town. The restaurant & restrooms are clean, inviting & service very good. There is parking in the rear and you can also enter from the back door making it convenient for customers. I would recommend this venue for date night, special occasions such as birthday, holidays or simply gathering for lunch with friends. I recommend McVey’s wholeheartedly. I am not affiliated with McVey’s Restaurant this is my personal opinion & experience to help others.

Mediocre food for fancy dining prices. Weird bean and coleslaw looking bowls brought out with croutons-like bread that no one asked for. Sad bagged salad with burnt looking croutons. Ribs were good but entirely too much bbq sauce slathered on. Bruschetta chicken pasta, good chicken but plain noodles with no flavor and a ton of liquid on the bottom. Servers seemed very preoccupied with so little going on. Won’t be returning.
