“The Earl is one of those rare places that hits the sweet spot between dive bar and craft beer hangout, without trying too hard. In the middle of downtown New Albany, it’s got a industrial interior with brick walls, rough hardwood floors, and exposed beams, that still manages to feel warm and personal, im sure helped by the Bill Murray mural and fridge shrine dedicated to him. It’s weird, it’s charming, and it totally works.

Their rotating lineup of local and regional craft beers is always on point. You’ll find something familiar like Country Boy, but also a few wildcards you’ve never seen before. It’s perfect for after work or a laid-back late night drink.

On a personal note, this is where I first told my girlfriend, now wife, that I was falling in love with her. So yeah, for all the cool beers and eccentric charm, and even Bill Murray, I can personally attest that The Earl is also the kind of place where memories are made and actually stick. Can’t recommend it enough!“

“The server was most likely the owner. She was very friendly and let us know that all the hot meals are made by her from scratch. She cooks the roast for the beef Manhattan, house made chicken and dumplings, huge salads, club sandwich is more than you can eat. Most meals are under 10.00 and the tea is 1.40. Every thing was very good and I will go back.“

“Went in to grab a quick dinner. The food was great our server was friendly and seemed like he liked his job. Overall we had a great time the meal was good and hot and came out quicker than expected. “Went in to grab a bite to eat from reading a posting how food is served went inside.. very casual laid back Bar. I asked if food was served and got a quick no from a local, I had some things to do and needed to grab a quick bite so I left.. as I was backing out they came outside and stopped Me saying they had $5-6 pizza if that was ok. I went back inside had a pretty good pizza 🍕 the staff was really friendly making Me feel welcomed being new to the area, had a couple beers introduced myself and left. “Bud’s is the best! The friendliest service and the best fried fish ever. My order is almost always the fish fingers and a cup of their bean soup because both are the chef’s kiss. Their open faced roast beef special on Thursday is killer too, as is their Carolina Burger. Wonderful all around, this place!“

“I do NOT recommend this place. We went with a party of 15 this afternoon and had a truly disappointing, awful experience. We arrived shortly after they opened. We were the only ones on the outside patio the entire visit (just shy of 3 hours) and the inside dining room never got very busy, but you'd never guess by how terrible the service was. It took nearly 2 hours for (most of) our food to come out, and even then, several orders were wrong. Our drinks were rarely filled. Our waitress and other staff may have been stretched too thin, but did the manager ever come out to speak with us or try to make things right even once? nope! The food and beer prices are high and not worth the price. (Food arrived cool and tasted ok... not worth the prices.) No apologies were offered before we left after paying our expensive tabs. We will not be back. Don't waste your time! They clearly don't care about getting return customers.“

“I live very close to here and my kids like to go over just to run around.. there is tons of open space and seating on the covered patio n outside area. I have eaten at Jeffs doughnuts, Bandits pizza and Bunz burgers (I haven't eaten here since Bunz has moved to this location but Im quite sure its the same delicious food) and all 3 are super delicious. Jeffs doughnuts is kinda pricey.. for a doughnut i mean and Bandits pizza and Bunz burgers has very reasonable pricing. I would definitely recommend trying this place out. I will for sure be back to try all of the other restaurants.“

“upon entry 2 staff members behind the bar and a female staff member at the entry to kitchen behind a wall chatting it up on her phone. People were observed leaving due to no service. after 10 minutes I asked for a bar towel to clean a table so my party and I could sit down. food was mediocre at best and our pretzel bites allegedly weren't even written down. we did get the pretzel bites after our meals were served and someone please tell me why the hell we couldn't get a rootbeer served when it's on the menu?! guy said he couldn't serve it where we were sitting. Not sure any of them had a bit of ambition as they were very snail like. 🙄 I encourage you to keep walking, don't let the loud music lure you in!“

“Myself and both my sons went to the Highlander Point Tumbleweed in Floyds Knobs today for lunch. We had great service with our waitress, Mindy Goslinowski. She was very helpful and courteous and thorough. We didn’t have to wait long and she went the extra mile for us. I rate her a 10 out of 10.“

And it seems like each time I’ve interacted with him, he seems to have been drinking. Very unprofessional. Other than him, I love this place.“
