Pepe's establishment has been around for a long time AND in my opinion they STILL have the best tacos!!! Their restaurant is quaint and artsy; lots of beautiful paintings on the walls. The hosts are always friendly! I mostly take out but I have dined in, as well. Both experiences were pleasurable! I always order the beef tacos on soft corn shells.

The absolute worst restaurant in NWI & Chi. Any location is garbage. Most of the food here is just sad, flavorless ground beef with slices of American cheese slapped on. It's legitimately pathetic and just needs to close already for the community's wellbeing. A solid 2 out of 10. I really hate this place, an ABOMINATION to Mexican cuisine. If someone says they enjoy this, they're lying. Where is Gordon Ramsey?

The food. Ordered taco salad, it had sliced American cheese in large slices on it. The lettuce was soggy & brown. No carnitas. Went there for a bday celebration and some of the group wanted margaritas. They lost their liquor license so only beer & wine avail. Just not pleased.

They don't automatically give you peppers in the bag like other pepe stores do you have to pay $1.50. The tostada shell wasn't hard it looked awful. Never saw a tostada like that.

The menu prices online are either very old or they have those new, "Inflation Tacos!" Somehow 7 beef tacos, a taco salad, and a tostada's meal equals $62. I even had to pay $1.50 a piece for three small bags of peppers. The high price could also be due to the special seasoning and magic peppers! I'll ask for the price before traveling to this Pepe's, if I ever go back.
The stuffed steak taco was so good. Wasn't busy at lunchtime and we had a nice ladies lunch.
