Disappointing in many ways.1) Super slow. We made a reservation and arrived 6:45p but we didn't get our meal until after 8p! They close at 8p and made us feel rushed when we finally did get our food.2) Menu was weird and hard to understand. Looked like some kid just typed it.3) Food. The burnt ends were great but the rest of our food was sub-par and in small portions. The wings were tiny, dry, hard and expensive.4) Service was unprofessional. While we were waiting on our food for over an hour, they came back to our table several times telling us they are now out of what we ordered. Food was finally brought to our table in unappetizing Styrofoam containers with plastic forks and it wasn't served at the same time so some of the party had to sit and watch everyone else eat.5) Dishonest with our bill. They charged us higher prices than were listed on their menu, and up-charged for combos when we didn't order combos. They also tried to sneak an 18% gratuity past us on our bill that they didn't tell us about.6) Just a total hillbilly joint that we will never return to. Probably won't be around long anyway with the way they treat people.

We ate at the new location, very tasty and filling! We got a #2 (brisket sandwich) with pineapple coleslaw #4 (brisket jalapeño melt) with onion rings, cheese curd appetizer, and blueberry lemon cobbler. The meat is flavorful, tender, and a bit dry--needs lots of sauce! The sauce tastes bad by itself but great on the meat. The jalapeño melt was great--a little spicy, strong jalapeno flavor, and a good smokiness. The sides were alright, nothing flashy, and went well with the sandwiches. The cobbler was great! Strong blueberry and lemon flavors, with a sort of lemon custard.Service was prompt and polite. The only issue we had was the cheese curd price: $9 for a small amount of cheese curds (the three of us had about 4 each), rather small, and tasty, but not $9 worth of tasty.(The pictures don't do the food justice, really.)

2/5/2024 Worked up the courage to go by taking a friend with me. Will absolutely return. Loved it!! LOVED IT!!! I'm an old ex-grocery truck delivery driver, used to deliver KC area & delivered to most of the BBQ places in KC. I would stack up what I tried tonight against any KC BBQ!!! I loved the branding iron branded buns. I'm a little confused with the menu but I had the brisket, bacon, fried jalapeños, & cheese sandwich. Fantastic. My side was the baked beans which are at least as good as Fanestil's baked beans!! The loaded French fries were interesting in a good way. They just opened in a new space/location so they're currently an upscale take out place, everything was served in take out boxes. Which didn't bother me. Atmosphere was fine, limited seating for right now. Our waitress was friendly, service was quick. I was very pleased overall. I can't wait to see what's in store for the future of this place & their menu. Despite the menu being a little confusing, you have to give this place a try!!

Of the BBQ I've had while staying in Emporia Kansas this is my top so far. Generous portions, flavor and tenderness were spot on. Only thing this guy is missing is a building of his own in a decent location. I'd recommend and I've been back and will continue when I'm in the area! Great job sir! The sides have been good too.

So, as far as the ribs go, they are average they're not fall off the bone. They are juicy. Got a nice flavor to them.
