Experience Haysville's Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“Absolutely love this place. What really makes it stand out from the other joints around town is the people! The service is an 11/10 every single time! I see the owner every time I’m there, always very kind and welcoming! The food is amazing as well. Good portions and price! Love love love!“
“We had a good stop on the restaurant. The chimichanga was good. I was a little disappointed that it was meat only. I was looking for it to be loaded. I was happy with it though. The fajita taco bowl on yhe other hand was really good. The best menu item I have tried thus far.“
“Food: Authentic and Fresh…WITHOUT A DOUBTCustomer Service: What other place do you know the owner will come talk to you….Don’t worry I’ll wait….Family owned, community oriented and let me tell you now. This hands down beats out many places…Way to go!“
“Love, love, love Poblanos. I've been eating their fabulous rice bowls since they had their first location on W. Central many years ago. I'm sure the rest of their food is excellent too, but I love, love, love their rice bowls and choice of ingredients - white or brown rice, beef (or chicken or other protein), sauteed veggies, cheese, cilantro, black olives, peppers and choice of 5 salsas varying in heat level (i choose the middle one which has a little heat but not too much.) . Be sure to have them put lots of extra broth from the meat on your bowl. I had a rice bowl at Fuzzy's the other day and it doesn't come close to the delicious rice bowls at Poblanos. I'd never order one of theirs again.“
“I recently relocated to Wichita from Southern California and didn't expect to find a gem like this! The adobada & carne asada vampiros are addicting! We're there weekly, the food, drinks & service can't be beat! Plus they have a really cute outdoor seating area, ya gotta give them a try“
“Fantastic place. Been going for years and always come back.Their delicious #9 Carne Asada Tacos are a must-try! Let's support and celebrate small businesses like Pollo Express that bring flavor and joy to our community.Parking: Plenty of room.“
“Casa mexicana mexican restaurant offers authentic Mexican cuisine with fresh ingredients, extremely friendly service (ask for Hector!), and a great atmosphere. Must-try dishes include their ceviche, pollo feliz, and excellent chips and salsa. Overall, a top-notch authentic dining experience that leaves you craving more. Highly recommended!“
“Amazing amazing this is my number one taco dealer in all of Wichita the Barbacoa is beyond amazing I mean there’s an El Rancho in here the claims they have the best barbacoa no way Los Banos text Bryce no way that was piña stick surprise for the green sauce that green sauce is beyond beyond amazing it’s so special I want the recipe to that green sauce“
“This is such a cute little restaurant that seems to have not kept up with the times....That is a good thing! The soda fountain looked original as well as the hutch that was next to it. If you are looking for a throwback diner that remindes you of a first date back in the day, then this is a must place to visit. I had the hot pastrami on marbled rye and my wife had the open faced seafood salad. Both were really delicious.“
“My favorite place to eat on the Southside, hands down! Incomparable whole hearted friendliness from each staff member, making you feel accepted as part of the family with every smile and warm hello from every beautiful soul that makes up the El Mexico Family! Thank you guys for all of your hard work! You are a reminder of how well it feels being a member of this heaven on earth we are all working towards!“
“Great food with even better service. I wish I could remember the name of our waitress. But she was a younger woman with stylish glasses and a great attitude. Everyone was wonderful. But she stood out a little more for her great personality and friendly demeanor. I will definitely be back!“
“I’ve been twice, both time had different burgers. Incredible flavor and extremely juicy! Atmosphere is like a family. I got to meet the owner Jeremy, you can tell he has a passion for great food and loves his city! If you haven’t been here, you are missing out!!!“
“I came here with my boyfriend and we will definitely be back! He had the carne asada torta and I had the pastor torta. The pastor was sooo good! Everything was delicious. The waitress was extra patient with me so I could practice ordering and speaking in Spanish. Such a great place!!“
“Best street tacos in Wichita!!~ no ground beef, these are the real deal!!. Everything made fresh! Excellent guacamole too!! Many menu items as well but I'm seriously addicted to the taco plate!~ "hi this is Lisa"!! lol pretty sure they know my voice when I call ~ they are located behind the KFC on 47th street near the turnpike“
“Valentines dinner. Felipes struggled tonight. We waited for drinks. We waited for napkins. We waited for just drinking water. Three people working the floor making drinks, serving food, bussing tables, bringing out more "wants"...figuring sales tickets.....it was crazy! They managed it ALL as best they could. All 3 workerbees were in a dead run the entire evening, doing their very best! Patience is a virtue. Most all the diners took it in their stride! Kev & I were happy to see the diners kindness for the servers struggles. Nice evening! We tipped big, and gave much needed verbal praise and appreciation before we left. It made their night. Minimum wage! Tips matter! Happy Valentines Day to all! Thanks Kev!!“
“My first time at Puerto Vallarta Restaurant but have had their food catered at work. Well catering food was awesome so we had to try the restaurant. Amazing food, Amazing service thanks to Maria and fun atmosphere. Highly recommend this place. I wish I would have taken a picture of my plate but I didn’t. Delicious. I got the smoothed burrito yum!!!“
“Heard about this place from my girlfriends boss o we decided to go here for our birthday the 11th an 12th we were not dissatisfied 1 bit.. The chips an salsa were great plus got a amazing seafood appetizer an 2 very different dishes both were out this world. My pineapple shrimp dish came out with with my mouth open! My girl didn't even get the chance or refused to share hahaha. We will go here again, the price was very easy on the eyes with what we ordered.“
“This is my FAVORITE Rene’s restaurant! I go out of my way and drive to this restaurant at 2424 S. West St. The food is so flavorful, hot and delicious. The ground beef is seasoned. I can’t tell you how many restaurants I’ve gone to where they just fry ground beef and throw salt on it and call it seasoned. Queso is on the menu & chips are free! They even have dessert!“
“The best Mexican food in town, hands down! Hubby had his usual beef chimichanga while I had my usual chicken chimichanga. I can never eat it all and brought my leftovers home. They are served with lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, Pico de Gallo, rice and refried beans. Of course, chips and salsa are automatic. They now serve some alcohol drinks. Next time I will have a margarita. Service is excellent and very fast. Love, love this place..Vegetarian options: I've never tried it but I'm sure it's delicious.Wheelchair accessibility: Front door parking“
“5☆ YumYummyYummyYummmmYummmmmmmm!!!!!I am a horrific picky eater but found many years ago their stuffed pepper! It is just as wonderful today as it was then maybe better!!!!You have to give it a chance!!! The pepper! The place is simple its a must go!!!!“
“As soon as you walk in you smell that homey clean smell mixed with delicious authentic Mexican food. The staff was friendly and helpful. My bf and I both got the birria quesadillas (2 each) which came with amazing consome with garbanzos and rice in it. The weather was Soo cold that the meal was absolutely perfect. And what's even better is it was only $33 and we both got drinks. Did I mention they have glass bottle sodas like in Mexico?! Made me miss Mexico for sure. Also, the decor is Soo cute and the tables are not sticky or dirty. All around a great place.“
“they are friendly. smiley not fake smiles either! tonight friday aug fourth maybe about 1030 pm had a quebirra? and a taco... very fresh. no greasy taste. the green sauce is hot and i dont like hot. but i do! this taco truck has made me expand my likes! back in the past they gave me free food just because!“
“They don't have the biggest menu but for the items they do have are all super good. The tacos are small but they are definitely worth it. They have a great selection of meats you can choice from. If you are in the area definitely stop in for you won't regret it.“
“Kinda wierd and inconsistent ordering the one out east gives you a buzzer to go pick your food up from the counter but the one out west brings it to you but I digress the food is good and actually on the cheaper side you can easily eat here for 10 or 12 bucks and I tried 1 of each of all their tacos and I would say the best was the shrimp one.“
“Food here is AMAZING!!! By far the best Mexican food I’ve had in the US - across several states. Daniel is a pleasure and a joy to interact with. It’s my go-to place to eat every time I’m in Wichita visiting family. Just go there, you won’t be disappointed!!!“
“So enjoyed this little mom/pop restaurant (maybe 20 ft wide!). Two people working and the older lady/cook spoke no English, always a good sign for the food. I had four $2 street tacos, assorted meats. All tacos and 3 sauces were great. The meat had some tasty crunch from cooking on a flat top. I can now say I’ve had beef head tacos! I will definitely go back.“
“Holy moly this place is great. 75 cent taco Tuesday is the way it's supposed to be. My 75 cent tacos blew away the chains that keep popping up thinking it's ok to charge 8 dollars for a taco. It's a taaaaacoooooo not a prime rib. No matter what you do to it a taco should never be over 3 dollars. The place was packed and 10+ people ordered ahead of me and I was in and out in less than 9 minutes. I waited in the drive thru for 41 minutes at Taco sh@p. That's a difference between night and day“
“By far the best restaurant in Derby! They were the first Mexican restaurant back in nearly 90s. They are the most popular still! The owner is fantastic and treats everyone with respect and like family. The wait staff is very friendly and they go above and beyond. The food is always fresh and delicious, the drinks are out of this world! The Andy-Rita's Chiefs inspired margarita is amazing!“
“It is the second time I have eaten in a Mexican restaurant and this time at Gorditas Durango it was a special experience, excellent service, reasonable prices, pleasant atmosphere, excellent, fresh and well prepared food and above all the cleanliness and order of the living room and kitchen stood out. I am a professional chef and that is why I have such a thorough opinion... whenever I am in that area I will go because it is fantastic. HugsParking: Spacious and on the restaurant grounds.“
“Not that they need anymore great reviews but I love this place so much I had to get it again! 2x in 1 week :) be patient as they have increased business now! 10/10 recommend everything on the menu *chefs kiss* + super friendly great service!“
“We went at 9 on a Friday. no wait, after leaving another establishment that didn’t wait in us for 20 mins. I had the burria tacos with amazing consume as well as all the different and fresh hot sauces. My friend ordered nachos and they were amazing as well. The chips were thick, crunchy and a little chewy, fresh fried with the right amount of salt. No soggy chips here! I ordered a fun drink, and it came with a fresh orchid flower. If tequila is your thing, they have pages upon pages of selections. Beautiful restaurant, excellent food and service. The only complaint was that the seating was a little close for me. They sat us at a 6top, (3, 2-tops pushed together and then sat someone at the opposite end of the table.“
“It had been a while since we have been to Chicos. We were very happy we went as the food was very good. I had the cheese enchiladas with an egg and the wife had a combination plate. Our food came out quickly and tasted great. While there are more authentic Mexican food in town and also chain Mexican restaurants, Chico’s was very good with a taste all it’s own. Service was excellent and restaurant was very clean.“
“First time to Abuelos. Three of us entered right at opening and there was no hostess. We waited, and saw two wait staff walking around but no one seated us or acknowledged us. We finally decided to seat ourselves. The hostess finally appeared about a minute later and brought us menus but acted very put out that we hadn't stood there waiting for her. Our waiter was not very friendly, just did his job. So for me the service was not the greatest. However, the food was great! All three of us really enjoyed our meal. So I only took one star off for the service.“
“The owner and her husband are so sweet! I always feel very welcomed and treated like family! I love the fried Tilapia!!! It’s seasoned to perfection, I always ask for the head to be removed ?? it just grosses me out as if it's looking at me so the owner is always very kind with my request removing that part. She never makes me feel like it's a burden or inconvenience.“
“My only complaint is that our waitress was not very attentive at all. But it was otherwise a good experience! The food was delicious, and came out hot and fresh. It's a small restaurant, and is very cute and cozy! Definitely recommend!“
“Right price and great rice ? your going to be pleased with the food and drinks especially the great atmosphere ? be sure to tip the amazing wait staff and be sure to have an awesome ? cool refreshing house margarita it's surely to make for a fun delightful trip out for family or even just the two out on the town for a great experience.“
“Good little restaurant for an authentic Mexican meal. Space is tight but if you can get in at the right time then it’s worth the trip for the fresh chips and salsa alone. Menu prices are very reasonable and service was speedy once I got seated. The puffy taco meal I chose was good yet a little basic for my taste, but I will be back to check out a combination dinner of more creative menu items next time. I recommend trying El Patio for a simple and traditional Mexican meal while downtown. You can’t miss the cool matador mural on the side of the building.“
“Went with a relative for a special dinner occasion. The pricing is very fair. They give you a lot for cheap plus chips and salsa while you wait for the main dishes. Friendly staff, very clean restaurant. Recommend the Chile Relleno Burrito. I was observing lent and this was one of the tastiest options.“
“The greatest restaurant I've ever eaten at, the Camarones Diabla is the absolute perfect meal, and is always made perfectly. Always a clean dining area and the wait staff are top notch, be sure to avoid their Andover location, it's the exact opposite in every way.“
“Been going here for about a year now since there right around the corner from me. Definitely a little slice of true Mexican food brought to a rather uncultured town. The fact they also sell hats, snacks, blankets and more FROM MEXICO is amazing. Don't change a thing“

“I highly recommend anything with the Al Pastor or Chile Verde. Or the Hot Dogs/Mexican style Burger. You can add additional toppings to orders for extra but the portion sizes and toppings I've received are usually enough to make me full. They only accept cash or cash app at the moment.Very kind individuals who work here if you have any food restrictions they'll do their best to work with your modifications.“
“I'm not upset about the liquor license being renewed at moment because I am not a raging alcoholic anymore! Two years sober this month unlike the angry person below me LMBO. I think this place has some potential, not perfect with room to improve here or there. As for the food... It was really good when I came here for lunch today. The shredded white cheese, guacamole ?, lettuce beans and rice. Chips and salsa was delicious. Thank you guys for a delicious lunch!“
“Went for lunch on 3/30/24. Clean restaurant, nice, and friendly staff. I Asada burrito with rice and beans, the burrito was good size and tasted great. The beans were a little salty and the rice was okay. My girlfriend had Barbacoa with rice and beans. The Barbacoa was very good. Tortillas were huge, thick, and tasty. We'd definitely go back again to try other dishes. Excellent food at a great price.“
“First time I ate lunch at this hole in the wall taco shop. There's not much to look at from outside, but inside is a whole different world. I ate the chimichanca burrito, rice, and beans combo. Turn out to be very tasty and was affordable. Go and eat there, you will be pleasantly surprised.Parking: Enough parkingKid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“I was in the mood for a quesadilla. Since taco Lopez is right across the street from my business, and on my way home. I decided to give it a try. O.M.G. I have only gone through the drive through. Ordered the carne asada quesadilla. Took it home. It was so full of meat and meaty cheese. It was huge! It was so good. So good in fact I just went back today for lunch. The enchiladas are just as amazing. My favorite is the carne asada quesadilla. It doesn't need salsa. I will be going back to try everything. That is my mission. If you get a chance, do yourself a favor and stop in.“
“El Fogon is a small, family-owned Mexican restaurant in Wichita that is cash only but serves up delicious tacos and tortas. The unassuming restaurant is located in a small building but they make some of the best al pastor in town. I ordered both the al pastor tacos and the al pastor torta during my recent visit. In the past, I've considered their al pastor to be the best in Wichita - perfectly marinated and charred with melty bits of buttery pineapple throughout. However, it seems the al pastor is not quite as incredible as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, it was still tasty, but lacked the strong char flavor and came without pineapple already mixed in - I had to request it on the side. Where El Fogon really impressed me was the al pastor torta. The fluffy, fresh bread was loaded with tasty, thinly-shaved marinated pork, melty cheese, beans, avocado, and all the right fixings. Every bite was so flavorful and satisfying. While the al pastor tacos may not be the undisputed best in town anymore, the tortas make up for it. For super fresh, authentic Mexican food in a no-frills setting, El Fogon is still a go-to spot, especially for the great-value tortas. Just make sure to bring cash and an appetite!“
“Ordered pick up and it was soooo delicious, i definitely recommend it. They have gained a new customer! We had tacos, a Mexican hamburger and their green spaghetti ?? and not to mention they are very generous with their salsas and toppings! Their guava water was very good too. 10/10 recommend.“
“Food is fire!! Chips and salsa are always on point and the service is great too. Think it could use a bit of upgrading to make the atmosphere a little better but they def have everything else down.Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of room for someone that is disabled as long as they aren't slammed full of customers.“
“Thank you so very much Karina Marchan for my DELICIOUS cake... All my friends and family if you need a cake for any special occasion y'all need to get with Karina. All she asks is to give her a few days notice. Karina and her husband own a little restaurant in Haysville called Breakfast with La Pasadita...“
