My husband and I are a little bit picky about our BBQ (who isn't, right?) So we weren't sure what to expect when we came to the KC area. We really enjoyed our meal at Gates. Their sauce is a little tangier than we were used to, but we enjoyed it very much. We shared a sampler platter, which was more than enough food. The staff could not have been more friendlier - we felt like they were inviting us to have dinner at their house. Very good experience.

Family takeout for a late dinner. Had a line that was entertaining to wait in. Ordering can be a little overwhelming but staff and other patrons are supportive. Food is good but we prefer some other bbq places in town.

This location was just ghetto. The employees outside cussing people out, inside demonstrating how a fight took place. Half of them have attitudes, not all of em just most. Sorry not sorry but them cooks that they had in there were not what Gates use to have.. hopefully when they remodel they will have better cooks.

we were in line and when it was our turn the lady yelled "NEXT", my husband began ordering and she cut us off thinking we were done and walked away and another worker lady farther down yelled at us to move.. it was a hassle to get them to recognize us so we could let them know we still had drinks and other things to order and i had a panic attack it was just all bad i'm amazing this place still up and running to be honest. horribleeeee customer service. absolutely horrible.

Whoever is giving this place 5 stars for food quality and service knows nothing about either one. The brisket that they gave me was chewy and lacked flavor. They tried to cover up the nasty flavor with their nasty sauce. The lady (that’s really giving her more credit than she deserves) was rude and had an attitude. How this place stays in business is beyond me.

This place is still high priced and lousy service. Used to work here about 17 years ago and the kitchen in back is dirty sloppy grease all over the floor and walls. So no wander it burnt down beside them wanting the Insurance money. Well hopefully if it's rebuilt they will have better house keeping and maintenance so this doesn't happen again.

The brisket was dry the sandwich was a beef and a 1/2.
Food was good, order taker/cashier was lousy. Didn't get my order right, didn't give me any napkins, didn't offer catsup or extra sauce for the fries (maybe that's why she didn't think I needed napkins). But HEY! There is a help-wanted sign on the door. They desparately need some good help if anyone is looking for a job!!!

Wow so many fries! We picked up our order. Can't wait to dine in. I think it will make a difference. The food was good but I think it would be better hot.

The place is terrible the fulle was burnt they charged me $60 for four burners and Richard in in a onion ring and the food was burnt they didn't give you a show on your food they wrapped it up so fast it sent you out the door with it I came all the way from Missouri to get this garbage don't go there and eat that food is expensive and they treat their customers like s***
