Two chefs stood shoulder to shoulder, grills blazing, trading bars while cooking at full speed like the Food Network meets 8 Mile. I don’t know who won, but we all did.
Now let’s talk food. My filet was cooked perfectly, which deserves its own standing ovation because anyone who’s eaten hibachi knows that filet on a flat-top grill is a high-risk operation. Tender, juicy, flawless. Respect.
The onion volcano wasn’t just impressive—it was the size of Hawaii. I’m pretty sure it had its own ecosystem. Lava (steam) levels were aggressive. Tourists would have taken photos.
And then… the machine-gun shrimp throwing. Rapid fire. Unrelenting. Shockingly accurate. Shrimp flying through the air like edible bullets, landing straight into mouths. Zero casualties. True professionals.
This wasn’t dinner—it was dinner and a show and a minor athletic event. If you’re looking for subtlety, go elsewhere. If you want perfectly cooked steak, culinary chaos, and chefs spitting bars while launching seafood projectiles, Kuki is the move.
Would 100% return. Possibly wearing protective eyewear next time.”

They have a decent selection although low ticket 🎟 payouts for skilled players. My nephew got 100 tickets 9n a game in the mall gives out 3X as much. The pizza os decent but it is about the kids so, are they worth the cost. Yes. Just imagine the place like a little kids casino. Real money spent low chance of return. Walk away with memories. “I walked into Circle Coffee for the first time ( all bright eyed and not decaffeinated, and I totally forgot to ask for my coffee decaf ( or what my sister calls sad coffee). By the time I realized, they’d already made my coffee and I was walking out the door— but instead of giving me the “well that’s on you” look, they smiled, told me to gift the original to a coworker ( who now thinks I’m the nicest person alive) and made me a fresh decaf for free. Heroes are baristas apparently. The shop itself is a whole vibe — calm, great lighting and welcoming atmosphere—enough ambiance to trick me into thinking I’m the kind of person who journals daily or could write a novel. Also, do NOT sleep on the strawberry goat cheese danish. It’s seriously delicious. I took one bite and considered writing it into my will. Life changing and I’m probably emotionally attached to it now. This place has great vibes, great people, and even better coffee and pastries. Highly recommend.”

“This evening was my and my husband's first time eating here, we came with three of our friends. I appreciated the sign on the door stating that they were working short and waiting times might be longer. Despite this, we waited no longer for our food than what I consider to be normal on a Saturday night. The food was cooked so well, very good flavors, and presented very nicely. The prices are very fair for the amount you get. The service was warm and not overdone, the perfect amount of checking in and asking if things were going well. We have all decided that we will be craving more and coming back soon!”

“Best authentic Mexican food in the area. Me and my husband absolutely love the beef enchiladas. The enchiladas are packed full of authentic flavored red sauce, ground beef and topped with shredded cheese. So moist, full flavor, and slightly crispy on the edges. The rice is good and the refried beans are seasoned with flavor that you can taste (unlike most Mexican restaurants). The pork tamale with red sauce is also a favorite of ours. They are big, moist, and full of flavor as well. The salsa and fresh tortilla chips and also delicious. The salsa is so good we could drink it. We plan to try other menu items but its hard when these items are so amazing. Also want to mention that the service is also memorable. The husband and wife team that run the restaurant are so down to earth, kind, and talented that it really makes for a great experience everytime we go. I should also mention this is a small but cozy place perfect for a lunch date or authentic experience. Thank you for giving an meal today that we will never forget.”

“My first time in Topeka, Kansas found the wind gusting into the 40’s. Once I dropped off the highway, instead of being relegated to the hotel treadmill, I was able to wander across the parking lot to the Westridge mall.

Two miles in, and a handful of laps behind me, I finally slowed my pace to a crawl and then to a stop in front of this wholesome cookie shop. What kept crossing my mind as I passed it was how vibrant and full the cases looked, in a mall that has seen better days. It was obvious someone or multiple someones were keeping this business busy!

When I stopped, I found out the “why” of that curiosity. Gayla does a little walk in business, but catering and corporate orders have kept her busy for the past 11 years!

My sugar tooth kept directing my mind to the frosted sugar cookies. As she was bagging a little luck of the Irish up, the banana crumble caught my eye and that was added to the bag as well.

A little more conversation and a picture later, and I was back to walking. I did not make it far before I had to open up the bag.

First was the banana crumble. I will never claim to know baking, other than I can consume copious amounts of cookies, but it was light and the banana was very pronounced. Would recommend trying it! One, (or two) would pare perfectly with a morning cup of coffee or tea.

Next up was the sugar cookie.

The first bite, I could feel the snap of the cookie. It surprised me a little as I am used to a soft sugar cookie but then all curiosity was lost and the frosting coated my palette….

Again I know so very little about baking and even less about frosting. But this frosting was absolutely delicious. I can say it is the best frosting I have ever tasted! Light and balanced; not too dense or too sweet, but a perfect mouth feel and taste!

If you are in Topeka, please stop by and try Gayla’s cookies! These small businesses need our support, especially in spaces like Westridge mall!”
