Umami Sushi is an American-Japanese restaurant owned by Koreans. While the seafood, particularly sashimi, failed to meet expectations, the restaurant's hospitality and atmosphere make up for it. The sushi roll, East & West, was disappointing, with overcooked rice and an unsuccessful attempt at torched flavors. The Yakitori appetizer was underwhelming, with small portions of chicken and a lack of freshness. The Oyster Chase appetizer, a raw quail egg and oyster shot, was not worth the price. However, the hibachi table experience offered amazing food, cooked to perfection, with a showy performance by the chef. The steak with fried rice and vegetables, served with a small salad and Miso soup, is a recommended dish. Overall, Umami Sushi is a decent choice for those who enjoy trendy, Instagram-worthy meals, but may not meet expectations for those seeking high-quality seafood or sushi.
