Fresh pastries, good prices, & helpful staff. If you're not familiar with hispanic pastries, they are not nearly as sweet as American ones, & can seem bland as a result. But bite after bite you start to notice all the subtle flavors that get lost in cloyingly sweet American doughnuts & such.Case in point: Yesterday I had a cream horn at an American style bakery here in Covington. It was flaky enough, but the pastry had no flavor. The cream filling was flavorless except for sugar. I only had a few bites before I threw it away.Today, I had the cream horn at La Rosa and it was SO MUCH BETTER! It was also nice & flaky, but that's where the similarities ended. The pastry had a flavor & freshness the other one was missing. It was also filled with Bavarian cream, which is a departure from a typical cream horn, but it worked so much better. So yummy!!Besides the cream horn (of which I only gave my husband one bite!), my husband & I also bought a cookie with a smear of pineapple filling in top (it had the consistency of an almond cookie, very short), a yeast doughnut with glaze & sprinkles (again, very minimal with both), & a mound of bread with a slightly sweet sugar treatment on top - we have no idea what it's called or how to describe it better, but it's so good!!This place may be small, but they know what they're doing. Definitely worth the visit!!

So happy to have found a new place for delicious, spicy chicken tamales. The owner is an absolute sweetheart, and even delighted this expecting mama with a chocolate treat “for the baby” - muchas gracias!!!

Nice ambient, pan dulce is great but you should come early in the morning because that's when they come out fresh out of the oven! They have a variety of drinks as well as hot coffee!

Fresh tamales every Saturday morning. Custom cakes to order. Nice selection of breads, donuts, and pastries. Excellent quality. Friendly service.

This small, hidden little store and bakery is a great little find. The store is basic: towels, soaps, basic food staples, soft drinks. The bakery shelves have some large pasties available, non of which have disappointed yet. On weekends I look for the poster they put in the window indicating whether they have tamales available. They usually have both cheese and chicken made.

I now have excellent donuts and pastries within walking distance of my house, which is definitely good for my soul but bad for my waist.

A taste of home for the homesick at heart. Delicious sweet bread and tamales! The husband and I will be there every Sunday getting our pan dulce after mass!

Cute little family bakery, serving traditional Mexican pan dulce, cookies, cinnamon rolls and tamales (are available on Saturdays and Sundays).
