Antojitos Express Food Trucks •

“The food was really good, like I was gonna save my mom some but I had to finish off the plate good. I got the fish w/rice beans and a salad. That rice was simple but very tasty! The re-fried beans is hands down the best beans I have ever had . Now that fish omg they had to have just caught it how fresh it tasted. I was in awww of how well this fish was executed and the dish as a whole .The lady’s cooking was very patient with me asking about the menu and what’s what . Definitely gonna go back again to get this fish plate .“

Platillo de Taco Taco Plate

“We were on the hunt for some authentic tacos on Sunday, but there weren't many options since most places we tried going to either close early or closed on Sundays. We stumbled upon Taquería El Viejón in front of the Latinos Supermarket on Florida Blvd and there were already a handful of people there waiting for their food. This was an obvious sign that this place was good, so we pulled up and checked out the menu a bit before walking up to place our order. The older gentleman that took our order didn't understand English too well, so try your best to order in Spanish or use your phone to attempt translation. He was very nice and patient and did his best to work through the language barrier. What immediately caught our attention was the advertisement of tacos de lenguas (beef tongue) and tripas (tripe)! You know it's legit when they serve those two proteins.I highly recommend this spot! The owners are friendly and hardworking and the food is delicious. It was pretty busy around the time we came (7pm) and the food took about 20 min, but no complaints as they are working from a confined space and juggling call in orders as well as walk up orders. Their tortillas were fresh, the beef tongue was so flavorful, tender, and juicy, and the HOT SALSA was on another level! It gave me that booty hole burning spice and that's exactly what I want!!! We noticed some people ordering something that comes in a chip bag so we might try that next along with the quesabirria. One thing I wish they had was homemade guacamole, because I looove topping my tacos with it!“

Típicos el hondureño Salad •
9836 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge

“Típicos El Hondureño is one of those hidden gems that I simultaneously want to broadcast to the masses *and* hoard to myself. There aren't many people there that speak English, and that's a good thing. While I'm not a scholar of Honduran food, I'm pretty sure that this is some authentic stuff. It really doesn't matter what I order; I'm guaranteed that it'll be a culinary adventure into something new and very, very tasty. Memorable dishes include the pastelitos de carne molida, and the pollo frito con tajadas.“

“There's a saying that if you want some good food you'll find it attached to a gas station. This was definitely all facts! I wasn't looking for anything specific to eat but this place called to me so I whipped into the parking lot and headed in! This is such a homey type of place that puts a lot of pride and joy in their food and showing off Latin culture.Los Alvarez Exxpress Latin Food is a local mom and pop spot on the corner of Gardere and Burbank next to the S&P Food Store/Chevron gas station. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect going in but what I got was a lot of warmth and comfort. This is a place for Latin locals to relax and get a bit of familiarity and good food. I dined in and ordered the Granadas Catrachas. Catrachas are traditionally known as Honduran tostadas. Los Alvarez puts their spin on it by using Granada flour to create a puff pocket and stuff it with meat, rice and cheese and serve it with encurtido (Honduran pickled vegetables). I ordered one with chicken and one with beef. The serving was huge and absolutely delicious! I was only able to eat one. That, on top of the chips and salsa and black bean dip had me full for the rest of the day! Everyone that works there is friendly and for a second you don't feel like you're in Baton Rouge. This is a magical place.“
