20240329 This restaurant is beautiful. The decor of the bar area is amazing. The bartender was very nice and helpful. I ordered to go so that we can eat outside with my pups. The crab and mango cake was delicious! The red fish was great. So was the shrimp po boy. The food is a bit expensive. I learned at the gift shop that if we eat at this restaurant, the admission to the garden is free. This makes the food price less expensive. The outdoor dining tables are located next to this beautiful water fountain.

Overall it was great. I highly recommend making this a regular thing, not just a great meal, but the experience of an incredible garden and grounds that nothing else can beat. The Turtle bar is a must, they have most every type of high end alcohol that exists. The only improvement needed is the wait staff. There's enough staff, they are simply inexperienced and young. Overall, still worth the experience.

Lauren was a great server and very knowledgeable. In fact every employee at Houmas House was excellent and knowledgeable! Thoroughly enjoyed it and we'll return on our next trip thru LA.

Another fabulous visit to The Carriage House. Friendly staff, fabulous food and a nice selection of offerings makes for a terrific evening out. The only complaint is that the music was a little loud and interfered with conversation.

The Carriage House is a beautiful and delicious dining experience. The crab and mango cake, the eggplant and crab entree, the salads and the praline cannot were wonderful! Great service!

Celebrated anniversary there. Second visit and did not disappoint. Went for lunch instead of dinner to avoid traffic but menu was same and food was great. The scallop appetizer was perfectly cooked and delicious, the biscuits served were outstanding and the desserts were off the charts. I had a cannoli filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with praline and vanilla sauces and it was as good or better than it sounds.

We dined here yesterday for a dear friend's birthday. I hadn't been there in years, and the place is still so beautiful. It would be the ideal restaurant for a dinner party or social gathering.I had the scallops appetizer and wish they'd been seared properly as they mostly weren't seared, but they were fresh and meaty. The honey butter and biscuits shaped like dragonflies were scrumptious. The bread could have been fresher, though. The ultimate delight, however, was the curried crawfish bisque with corn. It was absolutely superb, and all at the table agreed. After our meal we were presented a paper with dessert options, but at the top of the page there was an entree option, halibut, listed. My cousin remarked that she would have quickly ordered the halibut, but didn't know about it as the server obviously hadn't informed us of that daily special. The server gave an odd reply when questioned about how the paper's just printed that way listing the desserts and the entree option, instead of simply saying she'd forgotten to tell us about the daily special. All that said, it was a lovely atmosphere--but the pink Christmas trees do need to be removed as it's nearly March!--and we would definitely return, hoping halibut is on the menu and we are so informed.

Our dinner for 4 adults in the Carriage House was above and beyond! My brother and his wife joined us from New Orleans! Our redfish, eggplant, and steak were great! The cannoli n bread pudding was superb! Oh! The Caesar salad was excellent with the lettuce leaves coated with the dressing! My husband and I will frequent the restaurant again soon as we live in Pelican Point! We also love going to the Dixie Cafe! Thank you Mr Kevin Kelly! Your talents are much appreciated! Nita LeBlanc

Beautiful grounds even though everything was dead from the freeze. I can't wait to go back in spring or summer. The mango crab cakes were probably the best crab cake I've ever had, and the black and blue shrimp and grits were not bad, a little pricey for shrimp and grits, but I did enjoy the meal.

I love everything about the Carriage House. The food, drinks, decorations and ambiance. I feel like royalty every time I dine there. The Turtle Bar also has a phenomenal selection of high end bourbons to chose from.

You could simply drive by Houmas House and seeing it from the road would be a treat. Walking through the gardens and enjoying a delicious lunch was such a treat. Only about 10 minutes off interstate it's a great break in a trip out of New Orleans or when visiting the area. The food could have been swill and I would have still enjoyed myself. It was, however, fantastic!

the Carriage House never disappoints. We always start our outing in the Turtle bar (best kept secret) for great bourbons and cocktails then we dine and finish up with after dinner drink and a stroll thru the grounds

One of my absolute favorite place for a date night, dinner with a client or even family. The grounds are beautifully kept and plunty to look at. It's honestly peaceful and has so history.
