I'm giving one star based on the prices which have gone up considerably recently and please don't use inflation as an excuse!! It's gouging cause you think you can get away with it.

I would not recommend this place. I ordered takeout, which included three pork chop plates. The pork chops looked nothing like the one advertised by the waitress last time I was there, who showed me hers while raving about how great the pork chops were at the restaurant. Her pork chop looked as if it was cooked to perfection. I could tell it was juicy and looked well seasoned. When I opened my plates, however, my pork chops were visibly over cooked. They were all dark on at least one side, as if burned. I bit into one anyway and, as I thought, it was so dried out and over cooked that I couldn’t even feed it to my dog. I went back to get a refund and was instantly met with nasty attitudes from who I believe was the owner and his son. The older man told me that the pork chops were no good because I’d driven from Gretna to Gentilly with them. Just because I mentioned when I called in the order that I was coming from Gentilly does not mean I drove back to Gentilly. I went uptown because I was treating my family there to what I thought would be great food, from the looks of the sample pork chop I was shown my first visit there and the co-signature of the waitress, who was very pleasant and the only good thing about this establishment. When I told the older man he didn’t know where I went when I left, that I had not traveled far, and that there’s no way the pork chops continued to cook in the plate until they were burned and dry, the son then jumped in and said, “I was going to refund your whole order but now all I’m refunding is these three plates.”1. I NEVER ONCE demanded or even mentioned anything about a full effing refund and have NO PROBLEM paying for edible food, which the rest of the food was. The whole comment was unnecessary and smelled of racial profiling. They treated me as if I was some ghetto black person coming there to cause a scene and try to get free food. I match energy, so what you WILL NOT DO is be rude and nasty to me and expect me to bow my head and be polite.2. If I came there and dropped $90+ dollars on lunch in the first place (plus a tip), do you really think that I’m hurting for a full refund? So yes, that comment just infuriated me even more. Perhaps learn to keep your mouth shut instead of being smart a**es with customers when they complain about food that should never have been plated in the first place! I’d already complained to the lady over the phone on the way there (I actually wasn’t going to even bother getting refunded but they wouldn’t answer my calls when they saw my number on the caller ID because they knew I was calling about the below quality food they’d just sent me off with, so I started driving back), so I didn’t have anything more to say about it when I got there but the owner and his son just had to open their mouths with the attitudes, escalating a situation that didn’t need to be escalated. Again, you will not get away with talking to me like I’m stupid and telling me that food continues to cook and burn when taken off the heat source. That’s crazy. They don’t have to worry about me returning if that’s how they treat paying customers who tip well. Again, the one waitress with the glasses was super sweet both visits. I don’t see how she works with such nasty people.

A great place with an extensive menu and friendly service! The fried shrimp is so delicious- be sure to try the potato salad with it if you can! The special item I specifically go there for is Green beans- they're the best! Fresh green beans in a savory tomato sauce with onions, it's so so good! Can't find them anywhere else like that! If you're in downtown Gretna during the week, it's a great place to stop for breakfast and lunch.

In all fairness to the place, I can't rate the food because the availability of parking is nil. Yes it's by the courthouse, but, good luck trying to find parking in the area even blocks away. I believe it might be a handy spot for anyone going to court or the attorneys and judges in the area who already have designated places. There is a parking garage, perhaps a block and a half away. I would use that if it were necessary for me to go to court other than that, I would bypass this place. There's too many other places in New Orleans that serve great food with easy access to parking. Perhaps I can revisit this s*** I ever have to go to court... God forbid.

The food is Fairly expensive in my opinion for the quality. The decor could use some updating, honestly some brighter light and maybe brighter paint would open up the atmosphere. I rate 3 stars because the employees are kind.

I drove to Gretna to reminisce my family and our traditions. I loved this cute traquile breakfast nook and i want to give it 5 stars but i can't.The eggs and grits were incredible. I paid for ALL DAY parking as I was hoping to take a day off and read a book. The waitress suggested I read on the levee or on the street called Huey P. Long. It was incredible to learn my waitress also left a abusive marriage and understand my pains. I was thrilled to spend the day where my family cane from. I walked from the restaurant to the levee where I was greeted with a horrific cloud of CIGAR smoke from a man smoking on the bench. I immediately left as I has allergies to smoke. I walked to the COMMON sense Restaurant which was closed. I sat on the porch reading until an OLD Expedition Pulled up and nearly killed me with his exhaust. I tried to find another area to read however there was Construction EVERYWHERE. There were jackhammer going ofconstantly. There was dust and dirt everywhere. I'm DONE. NO THANK YOU GRETNA. This is not a place to raise a family.
