If you're tired of driving around the city looking for good fried chicken only to find it but can't find a parking place or looking at waiting in line for 25 to 45 minutes every time, try Chaps Chicken in Metairie , Louisiana, best crispy fried chicken and the juiciest breast meat I've ever eaten... hands down!!! I don't see how it could be any better... the red beans and rice and macaroni and cheese are second to none.... I left one full, satisfied man with money left in my pocket! Absolute perfection!

One of the best fried chicken places I've ever eaten at. The chicken was fried when you order it instead of sitting under a heat lamp which made the experience much better than chicken that has been fried a long time ago. I ordered the jambalaya on the side which was pretty good but not my favorite the chicken far out rated anything else on the menu. It would be hard to beat this place for the price and the taste.

Great prices, great service, great menu, and above average food. The wrap was stuffed with ingredients and they did not skimp on the avocado. The fried chicken was above average, had a super crispy batter so I recommend eating it ASAP to really experience the crisp! The batter had an ok flavor, just super salty. The fries were thin and well seasoned, no complaints there! These fries are better than any fast food joint, that's right I said it! Jambalaya was OK at best. It didn't taste bad by any means but was mediocre. Nothing too special about it, I would have to say their other sides are probably much better. The fries for sure. The biggest gripe would probably be parking, that lot stays packed. But what can ya do about it... Give Chap's a try, you won't be disappointed, especially for the price!

Hubby & I tried Chaps out today. We have been converted. No more Popeyes for us. We had the 2 pc dark meat with jambalaya. Both were Delicious! Super fresh, seasoned to perfection & excellent crisp. Ordered online for pickup. We picked it up 30 min later (they need 20 to 30 min). They were packaging it as my hubby walked in. Friendly & professional CS. Place is spotless. We appreciate the taste & freshness Chaps serves up. Give them the required time to provide you with all that goodness. It is well worth it!

If you're looking for some BOMB a** chicken this is the place to go! I mean it was shocking biting into the first bite bc it was SO good. The sides were average, but not awful! We got a 12 piece chicken with small side of Mac, green beans, red beans, and a large gravy fries ! This was PLENTY for 2 hungry boys and a little Asian girl with an appetite! Lol and the bill was less than $40 with this combination of food! Cheaper than Popeyes!!

This place is now Chaps Chicken. Breakfast was great, employees are very nice. You need to try the chicken, best around town. Made fresh to order.

Excellent fried chicken! Not spicy like Popeyes, but as good or better in almost every other regard. I would take off a half star for the sides, however. Mac and Cheese was ok, but I've gotten cole slaw twice and both times I received a half-full small plastic container that wasn't worth the price.

Chap's chicken is excellent. In a personal survey of fried chicken, including Copeland's, Galley, Mr. Ed's Oyster Bar, Church's, Brother's KFC and the King (Popeye's), Chap's is tied for first with Popeye's, having similar qualities such as crispiness and spiciness. It definitely stands out for quality control, compared to Popeye's, because the chicken is individually prepared for each order and staff attitude is in a different world. You don't have to worry about things like getting the wrong pieces and other mistakes that are common to every Popeye's visit, including the shabby treatment. Just wish Chap's had some Cajun rice!

First off is this cafe royal or chaps now or same owners? Anyway, got 2 pieces w mashed potato and an extra side of potato salad. Sweet tea. Takes the full 20 minutes to cook. Chicken was was very fresh juicy and not fried to death. Like moms out of a skillet. Problem is I like chicken fried to death after all these years of gas station crap and Kentucky Fried. Mashed potatoes and gravy real good, maybe not fresh peeled but good. Potato salad needed the tabasco but most everybody's does compared to mine. And it's in the New Orleans style all mixed up fine. I make it so you have pieces of hard boiled eggs and celery and pieces of black pepper in it. So I actually had over half the breast and most of the potato salad left. Here's the clincher: It tastes great COLD ! That's a true measure of good cooking. Like pizza, steak or spaghetti. So I'm changing from 3 to 4 star. I'd like a little more zip in chicken batter though. And service is great.
