I went in because of the amazing reviews and pictures from here. Turns out they were old and it's not longer a proper restaurant (I heard the owners move it to another location) but more like an actual café with just some basket options. The flavor was ok but not great as previous reviews stated.

We were in town during thanksgiving week. Only place we could find to eat. They had turkey ham dressing and all the trimmings. Great place to eat. Great staff! Will be back again probably next year.

I expected a Mexican restaurant but its now a soul food restaurant. The Gumbo was decent and service was ok. I am not sure the restaurant has it figured out they didn't know sizes for portions and service was alittle inconsistent. Ice burg lettuce salad and some hair was the main culprit for losing stars. The food in general was good so I think this place can make it if they do better at managing the business. I give a four and will see you in a few weeks.

I am almost afraid to share my secret on how fabulous this place is! Small and quaint! Old fashioned at a Mexican restaurant? Amazing! Sangria margarita! Perfection! Both dishes we ordered were full of flavor and did not disappoint! This will always be our first stop when visiting!
I went out of my way to find this place traveling because of the ratings . If you want good Mexican food this is not the place. The food is very bland . Salsa is ok but everything needs more flavoring. The restroom was gross and it was not a very friendly atmosphere.

Very, very tasty! Ordered the Fajitas for 2 to be delivered. Still hot and really good. Driver must have turned the bag they delivered in sideways, because the food had all slid to one side of the takeout box...(not Cane Rio's fault of course.) I was a little disappointed in the rather smallish amount of steak in the huge portion of onions and peppers. It was very good though. The salsa is great and the best guacamole I've ever had!! Will definitely order again.

Our family considers ourselves connoisseurs of Tex-Mex, so we had high expectations for Cane Rio Cafe. Unfortunately, it really fell in the middle of the pack as far as Mexican food is concerned. The salsa is heavy on the chili powder side, much like On the Border salsa, and the portions were not big enough to match the price point. That being said, the meat on our carnitas tacos was delicious. The restaurant wasn't busy while we were there, but we still waited for chips and water refills more than once. They were very kind, but not very attentive. If we stayed in Nachitoches again, we'd likely find another hometown spot to try rather than trying this out again.
