Was driving from Las Vegas to Central Florida. On the way I wanted to stop in New Orleans for some of there famous food.A side portion of gumbo and the Dixie Special Po Boy.The gumbo was hot in temp not flavor. Taste of the gumbo can't really describe but can tell it was authentic with creole Cajun flavor. The Dixie Po Boy was an experience in it's own. I don't usually like a dripping sandwich when I bite into it. But this one was different it was extremely joyful to consume. Was well worth the stop in New Orleans for the time. I'll be back one day hopefully sooner than later.Only a few parking spots for the location, but there is public parking available close by.
The seafood and the string beans are tasty. Unfortunately, the amount of food doesn't equate to the price. Local seafood markets, like Castnet have double the amount of food for that price. This is considered a seafood platter.

If New Orleans is about community then Dixie Chicken & Ribs is your go too. The chicken is song itself. Crisped to perfection. Locals fill the tables in this small restaurant and the food and beverage servers know the clientele from years of stopping for lunch. Worth a visit.
