As an iconic New Orleans restaurant, this is an experience you can't miss when you come to town. You absolutely need reservations but it's well worth a little planning. We were there for Friday lunch and guests were energetic & dressed to impress. The food & service were amazing. Trust the advice of your waiter, they know which dishes are consistent crowd pleasers. We had Michael Gindy(?) as our waiter and he was fantastic.

We were there for a private event. We were upstairs with a jazz band and access to the outside balcony. It was a wonderful dinner and drinks, with great to boot. The food and drinks were excellent. We very much look forward to returning when we can sample the full menu and experience. The service was top notch.

I now use this restaurant as the gold standard to measure every other restaurant against.

Honestly they have a dress code but the restaurant is not fancy at all. It’s a tourist trap if you ask me. The food was very disappointing. The chicken was dry and the crab with mushrooms was basically only mushroom and a lot oil. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.

While strolling the heart of Bourbon Street, stride into a world of refined elegance at Galatoire's in New Orleans, where over 100 years of tradition converge with exquisite culinary craftsmanship. From the moment you enter through its French doors, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of sophistication and old-world charm. You are treated to a dining experience that is both traditional and refined, a true celebration of Louisiana's rich culinary heritage*. Impeccable service and classic Creole dishes await each bite a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence. It is a place where tradition meets innovation and where every meal is an unforgettable celebration of food, family, and community.?What I Tasted: The appetizer quartet showcased flavors from the indulgent crab maison to the crispy fried oysters. For the main course, fresh local sautéed fish adorned with seasonal crawfish Etouffée. The fish had a delicate yet rich flavor profile that melted in your mouth. The optional lemon caper beurre blanc sauce, with champagne, was the perfect complement to the fish, adding a velvety smoothness and subtle acidity and saltiness to each bite.? Standout Feature: their unwavering dedication to preserving Creole traditions while infusing modern flair sets it apart. With every bite, you are transported to a bygone era of refined dining, where the vibrant culture of Louisiana comes to life.⚠️ What Was Mid: While some may find the classic decor and attentive service charming, others may perceive it as slightly rigid or stuffy. It has all the qualities of rigid service, former attire, and feeling of exclusive clientele but without the real upscale elegance of refined dining elements However, whether the ambiance suits your taste is subjective and may depend on your dining preference.*If you are a guy do not forget your jacket it is one of the few places in town that does require one after 5:00

Just ate there Friday. Was excited to try the turtle soup. Tasted like canned chili. The Sazerac I ordered tasted like NyQuil. The oysters Rockefeller looked like they’d been under the food warmer for a while. Couldn’t taste the oysters. The blackened pompano was 1/2 of a barely legal pompano. So little meat. The Key Lime tart was good. Sad. Won’t be back.

I am here on my own and love Galatoires until now. I sat at the bar and a completely unfriendly bartender took care of me. I understand that the people sitting in here are drinking at lunch and eating big meals so all his time and attention was on them. I had a Diet Coke cause I am taking a cooking class later and want to be coherent. Just ordered turtle soup and shrimp remoulade just non attentive and never asked how my food was. Busy doting on others. Because I’m a woman and alone doesn’t mean you are a jerk. Sick of being singled out cause I dine alone. I’m in f and b industry I tip well for good service. He’s a jerk.

This restaurant is definitely overhyped in New Orleans. Securing a reservation can be tough, which might give you the impression that everyone is clamoring to dine at Galatoire's. They enforce a formal dress code, and if you arrive without a jacket, they'll provide you with one if you want to sit in the main dining area. You'll quickly notice that the clientele tends to be on the older side.Once you're seated and handed the menu, the waiters are quite focused on upselling you on various items. We opted for a crab salad to start, and honestly, it was presented in the most disappointing manner I've ever seen from a high-end restaurant. Our main courses, shrimp creole and crab sardou with spinach and artichoke, also lacked in presentation. While the taste was decent, it fell short of gourmet standards, especially given the price.Service wasn't particularly efficient either; we observed waiters wandering around aimlessly. I'm not trying to criticize the place unfairly, but I truly don't believe it deserves to be ranked among the city's top restaurants. If you adjust your expectations accordingly, you may be able to avoid disappointment.

3rd visit. First two were amazing, and this time definitely not......We prefer to not dress up too much and sit in the bar area, and have always loved every minute of it. This time we were told the bar area was full (even though there were clearly empty tables) so we were led into the secondary dining area and it's a whole different world and not for us. We didn't order wine and my wife wasn't too hungry so only ordered a salad and a side dish, and the waitress didn't seem to be happy about that and didn't pay much attention to us. Also the bar area is calm and laid back but both dining are as loud as a high school cafeteria and for some reason no one even tries to keep their voices down. We could clearly identify voices from multiple tables across the room and it seemed to be normal. When my drink was gone she took it away and didn't ask if I wanted another. So no dessert for us, we ate and left. Would go back again, and put our foot down for the bar area, but not sure how much leverage we'll have with a $50 deposit on our reservation.......

A disappointing experience all around. The service is inattentive and rests on their notoriety assuming everyone will just agree it’s amazing. We arrived for a 6:30 reservation and was told as we started to order that there was no crab available. Over half of their menu are crab based dishes. This seems to be a problem with sourcing and ensuring the restaurant is properly prepared to serve what’s on their menu. We ordered the oysters Rockefeller and were very disappointed. There were no bread crumbs to be found on these oysters, the spinach looked like someone dumped a can of goopy spinach on top, and they over baked the dish. I could bounce my fork off of the stiff spinach goop on top of the oyster. I waited for my waitress to ask how it was as we only ate two of them… she didn’t ask, and when she came to remove them, I informed her they were not good. She said, “I’ll tell my boss” and carried them away. The “boss” did not come to check with us and they indeed did charge for them. The main entres were mediocre and nothing to rave about. The service was “barely check the box” and a bit arrogant. Sadly, another overrated restaurant that rests on their past reputation. Don’t fall for it… go find a lovely restaurant where they care about your experience.

We are so glad we did not bother with the jacket nonsense. I told my husband not to bother. We had the BEST experience today. We had 5:30 reservations. We were taken through a large area. We went to a nice area. We greeted by Andrew, he was very nice and made sure we were taken care of. Our server was Brittney, what an excellent server and so-so nice. Brittney made sure all was perfect. Ask for Brittney. Good luck to you Brittney. ? Our souffle potatoes OMG! Filet mignon cooked perfectly. The cauliflower a little undercooked. All went well. Will come back for sure.
