Hands down a must visit if you want a vegan friendly food spot. My first time trying veganized southern food, and it was amazing!! Also, being a picky eater, I must say that everything I tried was delicious There wasn't a single item I didn't like. Great food, great vibes! I'd give 10 stars if I could! I came to eat 2 days in a row cuz it was that good

Absolutely, 1,000% delicious!!!! We had THE hardest time deciding what to eat. They had so many gluten free options, we were so impressed. Most vegan restaurants don't have very many gluten free options besides salad or a wrap. We loved everything, left stuffed, with leftovers. PLEASE TRUST ME- you won't regret eating here.

It took me about 20 minutes to decide on what I wanted, lol. The selection had so many great options. I decide to go w the build your own w 2 proteins and 3 sides. And it did not disappoint. The food was AMAZING!!! *chefs kiss I would eat here everyday, if my funds allowed!! Everything is fresh. The juices are scrumptious!!!! The atmosphere is clean and pure. The staff are gracious brings. You are in for a treat here!

Honey coconut Cauliwings - 100/10; a little spicy but I'm a wimp. The fried cauliflower is the best I've ever had Mac and cheese - 10/10; wasn't expecting the spice, but that might have been residue from the wings. Either way, forgot it was vegan. And we all know how hit or miss vegan cheese is. Brussels - 10/10; sweet, crispy, delectable. No other words. Sweet potatoes - 100/10; I expect all my sweet potatoes to be grilled to this perfect from now on.

Crabless crab cakes! Avocado fries! Vegan Cauliflower Wings! And fried oyster mushrooms! You know what, just get it ALL! I had such a great time here. The people here are friendly and knowledgeable about food allergies, so I didn't have to worry at all about getting sick. And the food was DELICIOUS. I don't know what kind of magical alchemy they've got going on here to make vegan, gluten-free food taste so decadent, but WOW. They put so much love and care into their culinary creations here, and it shows! The interior is adorable, with plants hanging everywhere, a beautifully painted piano, and all around cozy vibes. Best hibiscus tea I've ever had, too!

What’s left of my not crab cake and RA pasta…the BEST vegan and GF food I’ve ever had!!!! I thought for sure I would be sick…no way my allergy food could be this tasty and comparable to “real food” nope!!!! Not sick at all! I felt like I was eating “bad” food. Thank y’all so much because I can’t eat anything just anywhere! Will be back!!!!!

My boyfriend is vegetarian and I am pescatarian. We like to try restaurants that cater to our eating when we travel out of town. This soul food black owned restaurant was perfect! We both ordered the 2 protein with 3 sides dish. I had the crabless crab cake with lemon pepper wings, the quinoa jambalaya, mac n cheese and side salad. As someone who still eats seafood, the crabless crab cake didn't do it for me, but for my boyfriend, it was perfect. The cauliflower wings were my favorite as that is sometimes the one dish I miss as a pescatarian. They were crispy just how I remembered ordering my chicken wings before I switched. The Mac n cheese was delicious and creamy. The quinoa jambalaya wasn't to my liking, but to my boyfriend, he loved it. My boyfriend got barbecue cauliflower wings with the skrimp, quinoa jambalaya, cornbread, and roasted vegetables. He ate everything! This place is differently a place we both would recommend as a place to try. Though I didn't have the taste buds for some of the items I chose, it was still delicious and filling!

When I travel, I try to find and patronize restaurants that are family owned and representative of the local culture so I'll literally have something to write home about. I left my French Quarter hotel and walked toward the famous Tremé neighborhood, hoping to find some vegan food. Yelp led me to I-Tal Garden. The word "ital" is a Rastafarian word meaning natural. Having some familiarity with that community, I knew it meant the food would be carefully and lovingly prepared. I knew I was in good hands if I could just get there. It wasn't a long walk, but it's a bit off the beaten path for the average New Orleans tourist. It was a worthwhile walk, and then some! I approached the counter, asking if they were ready to serve yet. I was their first customer of the day and they were still setting up. As it is the South, the young lady was polite and sweetly apologetic when she explained that they were only serving breakfast. At that very moment, Coltrane started blowing out of the speaker and I said breakfast would be just fine. I suggested that she choose for me, and she didn't disappoint. My meal consisted of cheese grits, sausage links, potatoes, yellow lentils and chickpeas made to taste like scrambled eggs and mushrooms seasoned and breaded to taste like shrimp. Now, I don't necessarily need vegan foods to mimic other traditional foods, but as this is New Orleans, "shrimp and grits" are totally proper. There were four or five guys working in the prep area and kitchen, which is partially obscured by a counter between them and the dining room. It's behind that counter where those men are performing magic. My overall impression is pure happiness. The place is large, and it's believable that they could host community events, and I hope they do. It looked like there is a DJ booth upstairs. I hope they flourish. I hope they shine. They've been in business for three years, the last two of which have been hard on everyone. This place is worth going out of the way for, and I hope someone reading this does just that.

This place is a total gem! The food is everything you could want in New Orleans, but done vegan. I made my own plate with jackfruit ribs and fried oyster mushrooms ("oyster bites") for the proteins, and for sides I did cornbread, mac n cheese, and greens. ZERO complaints! I only wish they were closer because I would 100% be a regular!

tldr; phenomenal food. phenomenal vibes. you can't go wrong with anything. the only thing i'd say is a must have is the mac n cheese and the yams. honorary mention: the brussel sprouts. outside of that i'd probably try something new every time. full review: i'm not vegan but i love plant based options so when my sister (who is vegan) recommended i-tal, well the restaurant itself is situated right next to a bridge and is pretty unassuming from the outside. but then you walk in and it open up to this kind of clubhouse-feeling-open-area. to the right is the order counter, to the left are stairs that lead to an upstairs eating area, there's also an eating area directly to your left, and to the back is a partially open kitchen. basically, most days you'll be able to dine in comfortably. we ordered the mac plate, a build your own plate (2 proteins and 3 sides), candied sweet potatoes, potato salad, and crabless crab cakes. if it sounds like a lot it's because it was. expect around a 20 minute wait but that's a guarantee everything comes out hot. personally i like it spicy so i got their maple sriracha and buffalo house sauces. i thought i'd prefer the buffalo but the maple sriracha is like a thick mustard based hot sauce. my favorite. the mac plate was delicious. it comes with bbq cauliflower wings, greens, mac n cheese, and cornbread. i was skeptical of the breaded cauliflower but they really worked their magic. the cornbread was somehow still fluffy and buttery, and the greens were just *chefs kiss*. of course i liberally added the hot sauces but if spice isn't your thing you'll be just fine straight out of the kitchen. my sister got the build you own with dry cauliflower wings, meatless shrimp, mac n cheese, black eyed peas, and brussel sprouts. the highlight was definitely the brussels. roasted to perfection and finished with a balsamic glaze you will want more. the meatless shrimp were basically popcorn shrimp (best dipped in the maple sriracha), and the black eyed peas were par for the course. i mean it is new orleans after all. of the two sides i got; the potato salad was good but unnecessary with the sheer amount of food we had for two people, but the yams were definitely needed. if you're black you know you've got to mix the yams with the mac n cheese. it's a symphony in your mouth. now i haven't tried the other appetizers but you'd be hard pressed to really tell the crabless cakes apart from real crab. topped with maybe an aioli or maybe their maple sriracha on a bed of arugula you've got some incredibly tasty bites. if you haven't picked up on it yet, i loved i-tal and can't wait to go back. so be like me and order too much, you won't regret it.
