The food here is unmatched, truly a gem. Service is always great as well. I normally get the Central American breakfast, which is great if you don't know what you want. Bring cash and it's worth the special trip. I've been eating here for 10+ years and it is always great.

Authentic flavors. I had the flounder and the Spanish garlic shrimp. These were by far the best Salvadorian cuisine I ever sampled , not to mention a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Definitely worth the wait time before the food is served to you!Kid-friendliness: Waiter/owner was very friendly
Some of the best pupusas you’ll have round these parts. The service was fast and friendly.

This restaurant is absolutely delicious. Everything is fresh and the portions are generous. I live in Northern Virginia where we have tons of Salvatorean restaurants so I have tried lots of different dishes. La Macarena's food is by far the best Salvadorean food I've ever tasted. We loved the Mint Lemonade, Mayan Chicken, Pupusas and Flautas, Grilled Shrimp and Chicken and the Seafood Special. The service was excellent and the ambiance was very homey and eclectic. If we lived in NOLA this would be a regular spot for my family!

The service was excellent. The guacamole was perfect but the pupusa's were not edible because of the beef lard there fried and the main entrée was undercooked. However, the owner is extremely kind.

As a Salvadoran I tell you that they are 100% Salvadoran pupusas, they are made on site and the horchata is a delight, nothing surprising, totally recommended
