I was really impressed with the friendliness of service here! The bartender and the guy at the door. I came here to celebrate my birthday with a large group of friends after having an horrible experience across the street and they were able to accommodate us with room and allowed us to bring in my birthday cake. Everyone was happy. The plus was there were pool table in the room we were in. I’d highly recommend this bar to have a few drinks and chill.

We ended up here last night after another bar across the street refused to let us have birthday cake… even though we were a huge group and they had a space they said we could have used for it - IF we had reserved in advance… which, by the way, was EMPTY! We stormed out shouting “let them eat cake!”Anyway, THIS place was warm, welcoming, and fun and I’m happy we spent our money there instead! Doorman was charming and friendly and was given some cake, deservedly!Plus: pool tables!Thank you guys for saving the day!!!

Great Dive downtown. Not too pricey. Great crowd that's not too pretentious.

The bar tenders are amazing! Liz is so personable. The owner is great and they make you feel like family! Not only at the bar, but also in their hotel. Highly recommended for a great time!!!

Our group visited on a monday night, which has their specialty fried chicken dinner. This is an excellent meal, especially with the bisuit, cole slaw, and red bean side dishes. It is worth the price.

We had a blast at the Roosevelt Bar. This tiny hole in the wall, neighbor bar, has a great vibe and an even better bartender. Bailey made us a wide variety of classic cocktails, each more delicious than the last. She chatted up locals and tourists alike with a positive, fun attitude, keeping smiles on everyone's face the whole night. So glad we stopped in on a whim!

This is not the bar inside of the historic Roosevelt Hotel (that is the Sazerac Bar), this is a stand-alone bar next door. Drinks were decent, much better than Bourbon St but not high end. It’s small in the room with the bar, but opens to a larger room with pool

We kinda got lost & landed in this bar. We got Elizabeth and let me tell you. She is amazing. We stopped almost every night during our stay. She made us feel welcomed. We would definitely be coming back next time we are in town. Update: we went yesterday to celebrate our friends bday. Bailey the bartender was amazing as well. Come see them both, you will not regret it.

PSA: This bar is NOT inside the Roosevelt (Waldorf Astoria) Hotel or even related except by proximity. If you are thinking of going to a swanky, artisanal cocktail bar, this ain't it. Go inside the hotel lobby for that, and be ready to spend a pretty penny. The hotel houses 2 cocktail bars (the Sazerac and the Fountain), a cafe (Teddy's), a rooftop bar on the 4th floor pool deck, and an Italian restaurant (Domenica, also not owned by the hotel). It's clear that many Yelpers are confused, as of this writing, there are more than 10 reviews on this page (with tons of associated photos) that should be applied instead to one of the bars inside the hotel. The business this page *is* about, the Roosevelt Hotel Bar (RHB), on the other hand, is a loud & proud dive bar with a tongue-in-cheek name referencing an earlier 1920s incarnation of the historic hotel next door, which was under the "Fairmont" moniker by the time this bar was founded in the late 1990s. Read the full backstory at their website. You'll know you're at the right place if you see a giant parrot at the door and you are entering directly from the sidewalk. With that out of the way...We love a good dive bar and New Orleans has some great ones if you know where to look. RHB ticks off all the boxes: cheap drinks, interesting regulars & staff, and a "come as you are" attitude toward customers of all stripes. Nothing pretentious here, just a comfortable spot to relax and if you like, meet some friendly barflies. After a long day in the heat, we decided to have one last beer before heading back to the hotel, and RHB hit the spot. We felt totally welcomed by the sweet doorman, Al (a former LEO and kickboxing champ) who told us about his dealings with the occasional knuckleheads who get offended if asked to show their ID. These days, it's a thrill for me, lol.Our bartender was a cool chick with an adorable little beagle-sized dog, George, who went bonkers when he heard his Great Dane pal, Beau's, bark in the distance down the block. Beau's owner came in for some ice & attention while Beau & George got an adorable playdate. Half the bar got up to pet the dogs and meet their owners. The RHB vibe is casual, laid back, and affordable. If that sounds like your thing, RHB will take care of you.

The bartenders are amazing, especially Bailey. It's a quiet bar away from the madness that is downtown New Orleans. If you're looking for a place to relax after a service industry shift this is the one. However, the pool tables have been out of service for months now. It seems like a very simple fix for the patrons of the bar. I would love to give this place 5*, but apparently whoever runs this place is asleep at the wheel.
