“Had a fine meal here. Was driving through the area and needed some food. They do only take cash but have an atm (requires a pin.) I got the shrimp poboy and husband got the swamp fries. The poboy had good soft bread and a lot of well-crusted-but -not -so-much-you-can't-taste-the-shrimp shrimp. The swamp fries are swampy with a rich soupy gravy. Service was friendly and there are a few small front porch outdoor tables if you're still a person who eats outside. Recommend“

“Not that I’ve ever had a bad meal when I’m here in Louisiana, but this just may be my new favorite place when I’m here. The batter they use on their shrimp and catfish is delicious, everything I ordered was delicious. Their lunch platters have perfect sized portions for me (enough, but not too much to go get back to work after lunch). The service was amazing, and even though the place was packed inside, my food was ready incredibly fast.Parking: It’s in what I’d call an “old town” setting, which is why I didn’t try this place the last time I was here, because there’s a lot of traffic and I didn’t want to park on the road. But I found parking across the street on the railroad tracks.“

“Best fried shrimp in Ponchatoula! The portions are large so the hubs and I split the shrimp dinner. It comes with fries and a salad but we sub the onion rings…they are made by hand and are amazing! If you can’t get your favorite seafood shack by the beach…this place will satisfy you!!!“

“Best pizza in Hammond that I've found, and I've had all of the popular ones. The owner is usually pretty accommodating, but the staff can be rather inflexible when he's not there, and will constrain themselves to only what the system allows. For example, you can get a half pepperoni and half sausage pizza, but you will be charged for 2 toppings, even when you only got 1 full topping. If this is fixed, I will happily make it 5 stars across the board.“

“We had a crew of 16 people tonight my brother and sis n law was in town from Michigan so I made reservations here because the food and atmosphere is always amazing, as always we had a amazing time and they loved the food. Hannah was our waitress tonight and she was AMAZING! Great personality and so sweet and funny we really enjoyed her and she did a great job making sure we was all taken care of. “The food was so good! Feels like you're eating an authentic Honduran meal in a different country. Large portions. Food took a minute but could tell it was just cooked and we got the tray so it was a lot of components. Definitely going again. The soup looks amazing. Not to mention, my new favorite thing is that stuffed plantain. Never would have thought beans, cheese, and plantains were a good combo, but wow!Parking: Parking is limited. “Went inside to order Togo food. I ordered wrong & got seafood gumbo instead of etouiffe, but when I got home & ate the food (seafood gumbo, blackened alligator & fried alligator) I was very happy with what I ordered. It was magnificent! We're going back again very soon.“

Everything was very salty, my caesar salad was dry and the chicken was salty and kinda greasy. Our waitress and the atmosphere was nice per usual. However the food wasn't it's best.“

“Just ate at Cena for the first time tonight for my birthday dinner. I’m so happy we gave this place a chance. Everything was wonderful from start to finish. Everything we had tonight were specials and not on the regular menu. We had a smoked pork belly appetizer that was actually being entered in a bacon competition in Gulfport tonight and definitely worthy. It had fried shrimp and melted cheese on the top. My only complaint would be the crust on the shrimp. Just a little too hard for our liking but that’s being picky. It’s the type of crust that’s so hard it falls off when you cut into the shrimp. The smoke on the pork belly though was perfect. We ate it all before I could get a pic. For our entree’s, my husband had a filet and I had gnocchi which is the very reason I wanted to eat there. It’s very hard to find gnocchi in a restaurant much less homemade. It was in a Parmesan cream sauce with grilled shrimp on top and there wasn’t a bite left on either plate.The atmosphere was very nice and I know they were booked for the evening. We were lucky to get reservations the same day but we did call as soon as they opened today. Our waitress, Abbey, was one of the best waitresses we’ve had at any restaurant ever. She was so personable and knowledgeable about the menu. There were about 6-8 specials to tell us about between appetizers and main course and she had it all memorized perfectly. I would’ve stumbled through notes if it were me. We will definitely be back and will definitely request her again as well.“

“I was staying nearby and this came as such a wonderful and unexpected recommendation from a friend who's eaten her way across the south and just published a book on gas station eateries. I even had a friend drive down from New Orleans to join me. We tried a little bit of everything from the saag paneer to the molai kofta to the butter chicken and an order of chili naan and weren't disappointed. Every bite was really good.“

“It was the first time I’d been there in over a decade. My fiancé and I stopped in for dinner. We started with an order of fried wantons and they were just perfect. Them he had the sweet and sour shrimp, which he said was very good. I had the mandarin chicken with the gravy served on the side. The chicken seemed a bit over cooked, to me, and was slightly hard to chew. When our server asked how things were, I told her it was good, but I was a bit disappointed in the doneness of the chicken. I wasn’t even trying to send it back but she immediately picked the plate up and returned it to the kitchen. Within minutes, she returned with a fresh plate of chicken, lightly fried, and it was amazing…just the way I remembered it from years ago. The pork fried rice was better than any other restaurant for miles around. I had forgotten how similar China Lotus was to Trey Yuen, a Chinese restaurant that is no longer open in Hammond, but was a favorite of many when it was (I miss it so much!!). I can honestly say I’ll be back but I’ll order during lunch hours instead of dinner because the dinner menu is a little pricey. Well worth it, but pricey. The service was excellent!! I couldn’t ask for a more polite, attentive server. The entire experience was way beyond our expectations.“
