I miss the other mexican restaurant that used to be here :( It was warm, this place is cold. The food here isn’t even authentic!

Elevated casual taqueria experience with solid food.Chilacates expanded aggressively throughout the city last year, and this West End location was one of them. Although I haven’t visited their original Amory Street location, this new outpost impressed with its comfortable seatings and a clean, modern interior. I came a couple times before TD garden events and always had a solid meal.Although Chilacates is more known for their burritos among the locals, I got to try some of their other offerings on the menu. The Taco Plate and Carne Asada Quesadilla, in particular, were some of my favorites. The Birria in the burrito bowl was also soft and tender, but the beans were slightly undercooked, giving them a harder texture than preferred. From their dessert and drinks, both the churros and the horchata were great. Horchata had a slightly stronger cinnamon flavor compared to what you might find at other taquerias around the city, but it was still refreshing. With its rapid expansion, Chilacates now rivals chains like Chipotle in number in Boston. If you’re looking for a more authentic Mexican experience, Chilacates is a compelling alternative with its more diversified menu. It may not be the best Mexican food in the city, but it’s good enough to fulfill Mexican food cravings.

Best QSR Mexican food in Boston - no debate. Anna's up the street is highly rated, but it really is nothing compared to Chilacates.

The food is fine. It's probably better than you can reasonably expect for the cost. I was particularly impressed by the shrimp in my burrito bowl, and I know one of my friends was particularly impressed by the quality of the beans. The storefront is a hole in the wall in an area that is not really geared toward restaurants, so you can't expect much in the way of ambience. You also can't expect to have a conversation because the background music is loud enough to be uncomfortable. I was not terribly impressed with the service, although I admit that I came in with a big group. The staff was obviously not happy to have to deal with a big group, and they made their displeasure known. I ended up not getting what I paid for, but I didn't want to upset them further by pointing that out.

Not anything special at all. If you need a bite to eat after a game before getting an Uber it will help you kill 10 mins though.

Went there and asked if I could use the bathroom and the very rude lady at the front said it’s only for customers I told her I can buy something that’s ok but I really need to use the restroom asap and she said NO you have to buy first and then you can use the restroom! Like WHAT!!! You just lost a customer I always buy here and other locations but screw that.

Food was decent. But the atmosphere is very cold. And the music is so loud that you can’t speak to the person you came with. The cashier loudly sang along but we couldn’t even speak to each other.Wheelchair accessibility: Door is not very wide. Would struggle with a wheelchair.

I got a grilled chicken burrito bowl. Very low on chicken. Small chicken cubes the size of a nail. I had to request/pay extra for guac (which is typical), extra pico (which proportion was not extra), jalapeño (which i got 3 pickled pieces)- should be unpickled in my opinion. I requested corn, which was never included. And sour cream, which I got a small spoon of. I’m not sure why portions were so less, I spent 22$ on it. This makes me want to just make this at home going forward smh

This place is a gem! It was past the opening hours when I came (only realised after I left) but I was welcomed with a warm smile. Ordered some hard shell tacos and they were an absolute delight. Very hard to find hard shell tacos in Boston so I was quite pleased. The fillings were full of flavour and absolutely delicious. Glad to finally find a Mexican place with a kitchen staffed by Latinos who know how to cook. The restaurant was well-lit and spotless clean. Will def be back again.

Quick service and great flavor. Ordered Birria tacos. A little pricey but what isn't.

Late post. I love Mexican food but I can never find a place that serves hard shell tacos, and to my surprise, they had hard shell tacos!!! I ordered 2 chicken and a beef taco to go. That was a mistake, I should’ve ordered more. Unfortunately, I don’t live in Boston to frequent this place but when I’m in the area, I’ll definitely come back. My tacos were delicious.

I always go to this place, because it is around the corner from my job, never had any complaints, but yesterday i ordered 2 carnitas burritos like always, when i got home and sliced them open, it only had the meat, and beans and rice, no sour cream, pico, or guacamole, i was so disappointed, and i should've double checked before i left because the guy at the counter never asked me if i wanted everything on the burrito... I'm so pissed!!
