Want to head to a place that makes incredible coffee and has one of the best barista staffs in the city... Look no further than Zumes!

The drinks are good, but they no longer let paying customers USE THE BATHROOM. The last time I went with my 5-year-old, I asked for a bathroom key and was told it was just for staff, and that I could go use the bathroom at Whole Foods. Can you even imagine telling a customer they can't use your bathroom and that they should go to another private business instead? They even advertise having indoor seating, but you can't wash your hands or pee here. I went to this business for years and won't be back.

This coffee shop has a great selection of gluten-free options. Their coffee is made with love , and the staff is so friendly.

Would absolutely recommend Zume’s !! I’ve been visiting them for breakfast and coffee for a few years now and the service, the personal touch, and the quality of food is always excellent!

Spent $10 plus tip for an iced coffee & a stale coffee cake. Went back to the counter to ask for a cup to put some water in and they wanted to charge me. Nope.Ps - I was trying to support a local business. Hope somebody else takes this place over. Not even friendly.

Good egg sandwich, good bagels and lox, solid coffee, great environment, friendly staff. Good place for a quick and chill breakfast.

So bummed Zumes just isn’t the same anymore. Used to live in Charlestown and I took a detour while in the area to stop in. The staff was so incredibly rude I couldn’t even believe it. My breakfast sandwich was sooo dry that I could barely eat it, so I politely went to the side counter to ask for a pack of butter. I waited for the butter for 2-3 mins, not wanting to bother anyone, when I suddenly realized they were waiting for me at the register, to charge me 25 cents for a pack of butter. I’m not sure why they didn’t indicate to come that way… i was just standing, waiting, and so was the staff member. I was blown away - my sandwich was inedible, she knew it, and she was still unapologetic and charging me for butter. I absolutely want to support small business and the money wasn’t the issue, it was just the entire bizarre situation. What I hoped to be a relaxing stop for coffee was just uncomfortable and disappointing. Won’t be back unless it seems things have changed with their angry crew.

Good place to chill out for a sec and the staff was friendly and welcoming. If you’re coming looking for specialty coffee, you might want to head elsewhere. They serve Atomic so I thought it would be solid, but espresso beverages are prepared carelessly with no attention to milk quality and shots are very long/overextracted. They have a good selection for flavors and beverage options though.

Food and coffee is alright, but the staff is so unpleasant. The manager has been so rude on multiple occasions. I really wanted to like this place but overall bad experience.

How have I not written a review before? We have been going to Zume's since they opened in Charlestown. From the coffee to the food, we always can find a tasty treat. I love that they are a huge part of the community as a small business and that they have thrived in the face of corporate coffee competition. Thank you for being there for Charlestown and us!

Of the clutch of coffee shops and cafes in Charlestown MA, incredibly, just this one - Zume's - no longer allows customers to use their bathroom, even in an emergency and after paying for items. So if you order at Zume's and gotta go, no luck "because it's Covid"!? This is the end of March 2022 when Zume's management no longer requires masks. But they keep the bathroom locked behind a hanging curtain?! So best advice is go forth to Tatte, Starbuck's, Sorelle's, Style, and other local coffee shops that respect customers enough to maintain an accessible, clean restroom post-Covid.

My morning tradition. Good coffee, pastries, and people. Love the recent remodel and looking forward to spending some time in the window seats watching Charlestown walk by.

Good selection of locally sourced hot tea, a variety of iced teas, and matcha! Also a great selection of sweet & savory gluten-free options (including gluten free bagels and breakfast cookies!). Friendly staff and cute location.
