I HIGHLY recommend buttonwood to anyone in the Newton/Chestnut Hill area. Even if you don’t live near that area it is worth the drive! My husband and I enjoy this as our favorite spot for a date night. This is perfect for a night out that makes you feel like you’re going into the city, but not quite in the city. The menu has SO many options. It is seasonal, fresh and absolutely delightful. We recently went for my birthday over the weekend. We enjoyed the delcious chicken wings (cooked & flavored so perfectly!), the cornbread with the Tabasco butter (a must have!), my husband got the chicken under a brick & I got their pasta special (gnocchi with a duck ragout…. AMAZING). To top it all off, they provided complimentary cannolis for each of us for my birthday!! And then we ordered the banana pudding… (also a must have!!)We left with full bellies and full hearts from such an amazing dining experience. Thank you buttonwood!!!

Went for a Friday night date — servers were very attentive, loved the atmosphere.. Very romantic! My salmon was big and hearty and cooked to perfection with a crispy outer layer from cast iron...

First time dining at Buttonwood. Table was ready, server Tara was attentive and friendly and knew the menu well. Food was excellent (arugula salad, chicken, cheeseburger and steak). Very limited wine list but the Pinot from Oregon was quite good. Will definitely return.

Buttonwood is a lively and welcoming neighborhood gem upscale American restaurant. The food is well-made, not overly salty. The wine list has some interesting and creative bottles along with some good crowdpleasers . It's a great place to bring friends .

The food was excellent and the service was excellent. We enjoyed the buratta appetizer, which is large enough to share it for two and quite delicious. We had a burger, chicken, under a brick, and a side of broccolini, all good

Hey people, be careful with this restaurant. I did the reservation and after 5 minutes I called them to cancel it and they said I am gonna be charged for late cancellation!!! 25$ per person! This is fraud! Also they won’t take the call and it’s so hard to even find them to cancel it

Loved Buttonwood! Our first night there. Service was amazing with Alex at the bar. The food was terrific, fresh and perfectly prepared. Had the arugula salad to start. Lightly dressed perfect portion so good. My wife had the brick chicken. Excellent dish, so tasty and moist. I had the Salmon. OMG crispy crust, perfectly cooked and the best Brussels I've ever had. Great experience and met Chef Aaron. We will be back and adding this to our top restaurants list. Thank you!!

Each time I have been to Buttonwood it is a wonderful experience; between the mouthwatering food (you can taste the chef's love and expertise), to the relaxed and friendly service, and the overall atmosphere - truly special!

Buttonwood is always fun and delicious! Service is friendly & the menu is creative. I particularly appreciate that there is almost always an interesting vegetarian offering. The corn bread is absolutely the best in the world!

Great place with yummy food. The one drawback is that they don't always have a vegetarian option on their menu. I went with a group that included a vegetarian and a vegan. When I was selecting a restaurant, there was an obviously vegetarian entree that seemed like it could be made vegan on the menu. It had disappeared by the time we dined. When asked, they did offer an off-menu gnocchi option, which was nice. But I think it would be great if they always at least a vegetarian option on the menu, with the ability to adapt to vegans. The server, while nice, offered up no vegan options for small bites, salads, etc. I'm an omnivore but was a little surprised and disappointed on behalf of my friends.

We had a lovely time food and service were excellent. It was pretty loud but it may have just been that the people sitting next to us exceptionally loud. I would definitely recommend going here. It's a little on the pricey side but given what restaurants cost these days it makes sense and the quality was definitely there, great for a special night out!”

Wonderful birthday dinner! The appetizers were fabulous, especially the cornbread, which may be a side not an appetizer, but so so good! Everyone loved their entrées as well. The banana bread pudding for dessert was exquisite. This place feels like a neighborhood restaurant with excellent food. There were seven of us for dinner, and it was wonderful that we could actually each other even though it was a very lively convivial environment. Nice service too!

The food is still great, though I wish they'd make more changes to the menu. Cocktails are always excellent. It doesn't feel so neighborhood-centric anymore, which is probably good if you're coming from a distance; but for us locals, it would be nice to get that back.

Wonderful birthday dinner with friends at Buttonwood! The food was delicious, the service was lovely, and our server made our experience perfect! The birthday girl was surprised with a delicious cannoli and candle at the end of the meal. I highly recommend and will be back soon!
