just ordered takeout and the food is delicious. I’m eating the shrimp fried rice as I review this and it could not be better. Our new favorite sushi place in Newton.

Pros: - Sashimi Deluxe is alrightCons: - Spider Maki is smaller than what you would usually get- Seaweed Salad looks like a decent portion size but the bottom layer is mostly cucumbers

A small and cute place! The two chef's specials we ate were both rlly yummy and i would go again if in the area. Overall nice staff too.

This place went down hill. It used to be our regular weekly spot but no more. Nothing is fresh, even avocado seems withered and unappealing. Goodbye Otake !

This is my go to sushi place. I think it strikes the right balance of quality to price. It's good sushi at a reasonable price. Edited to add another photo of one of the entrees with spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls as well as tuna and salmon nigiri. I love this combo!

Not a terrible experience here but not great either. Waited for probably 10 minutes to even get drink orders taken (restaurant wasn't full). Seaweed salad was good, tuna tataki was just OK, rainbow roll just OK, udon soup extremely bland. Nothing really wrong, just no real flavor to anything. Maybe they were just having an off night, but we likely won't return.

I’m only giving two stars vs 1 because I used to love Otake but hadn’t been in many years. Tonight, 90 mins after delivery order was made through GrubHub, no food, multiple calls to restaurant with no answer. They do their own delivery vs GH, original quote was 35-45 mins — so I ended up just cancelling (GH tried calling as well with no answer). So if you’re hungry be weary of ordering delivery! Was really looking forward to it but won’t be ordering again unfortunately.

The sushi tasted old… the tempura was old and cold. I would not recommend.. I felt sick eating and didn’t even continue to eat. I was only happy because they prepared it fast but not fresh so.. meh

Sushi good, friendly lady at front counter, my neighbor a sushi snob and loves this location. Parking can be tough in the Highlands. Solid for takeout.

Really enjoyed the freshness of the various rolls on offer. Their more complex rolls were good as well. I wish perhaps that both the fish and the rice had more flavor or character. Nonetheless this is a solid sushi place.

Otake is great. I've been here 5-6 times for dinner and have ordered a variety of dishes. The food is consistently very fresh, well prepared, and delicious. The staff is friendly and kind. The atmosphere is pleasant as is the neighborhood. Parking is o.k. too.If you like Japanese food and sushi, you will not be disappointed.

While the food was a little slow to arrive, it was truly fresh and delicious. We especially enjoyed the seaweed salad and the first two Chef's maki specials. Very reasonably priced, too!
