“Went on a Sunday morning around 11ish. Sat our selves at the bar and got greeted/menus within a couple of minutes by the bartender. For a place that is not that large they do a decent job of utilizing the space to seat customers and also make it not feel super cramped. They have some fun drinks on the menu and the breakfast menus has a lot of options. Once our order was placed the food was brought out within a reasonable amount of time. The only one thing I'd make a suggestion to is please look at the ticket of any requests made by the customer (ordered well done has browns sadly there were not)The value of the meal was satisfactory and the overall experience was good. From the outside this place may not catch your eye but it is worth checking out if you are looking for a spot in Salem,MAParking: Parking lot is in there back if it is full try to find street parking can be tough. In the lot if people park correctly there's enough spaces if not sorry you're out of luck parking there.Wheelchair accessibility: No accessible in the front due to stairs. Unknown if there is a back entrance.“

“Expect this place to be PACKED at night! This is apparently THE spot to be every night. (Which is awesome for the business, they're doing something right!) It's small and very loud when it's busy, so be prepared for that. There was a wait and a group ahead of my husband and I when we went in on Saturday night. Not really the scene for us because we were more interested in the food than the bar. We ended up stopping in for lunch Sunday afternoon instead. Way more our speed, it was quiet with a few people in there having a drink and lunch. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. The gourmet grilled cheese is out of this world! We ordered corndogs as an app, then "La Femme" and "A Fig Deal" and shared them along with some cocktails. The sandwiches were messy and delicious and I will dream of them until I return to Salem again.“

“10/10 Five Stars All the Accolades We had a group of 20- 13 kids and seven adults- and our service was TOP NOTCH. They seated us together right away. Brought our food out together and quickly. Understood that we had picky kids and worked with us every step of the way. The food is amazing. The cocktails were cute. The kids had root beer floats, so it was fun for them, too! I always come back because of their food, but their service has made this a staple of mine for every trip to Salem from now on!!“

“If you are thoughtful about when you eat there and adjust your expectations accordingly, it's a wonderful experience. This is in the heart of Tourist Salem, so understand the limitations of a tourist restaurant during the busy season. They run a very well organized kitchen but waitstaff will vary depending on the season and year. The head chef is nothing short of brilliant. The menu is thoughtful and inspired for the vast majority of potential diners. The line cooks range from competent to truly talented and motivated. I have eaten here a dozen occasions and have never seen a plate served that wasn't carefully presented according to the original design. Consistency is surprising given the fact that this is a popular tourist eatery, but that's why my fellow locals also keep returning. It's a 3.5/4 restaurant with appropriate prices. The seafood is always peak freshness and chicken and steak options have always been perfect. It does get very crowded and a bit loud on weekends or most nights during the summer & October. Please plan appropriately and expect a wait during that time. A small tip at the checkin station certainly could help you acquire a better table if not shorten your wait a small amount(not official policy, of course). It's not needed though as most seats are excellent and the wait is rarely very long due to two floors of dining options. Still, if it's a special night or you are looking to impress, a tip and a kind word will go a long way. Note: The world is rapidly changing and some seem to carry pride at displaying a lack of empathy, decency, and manners in public. Please don't be rude to the staff at the restaurant even if you aren't having an ideal experience. Instead, try politely discussing your issues with a staff member away from the table. If you are kind and express understanding, they will return the same and work to find a solution with you. This is about all restaurants and most businesses in general. I am just leaving this here as a good number of reviews seem to not understand that all of the employees are truly striving to give you a great experience. Some issues are beyond their control and a decent human being will understand that difference.“

“I got the fries and they were fine. Can't wait to go back for a meal because its all from scratch. I really like what the new owners have done. Magleashes was fine but I always thought it to dark and closed off. Now there are large windows looking out at Lafayette Sq. It completely opens the place up. Not only that but also there is a new tin ceiling, mew velvet seats and really fine staff. I am super excited for Vinyl Monday (byov and they play it starting at 5. They also will have live jazz Tuesdays 6-8. I really hope people visit and keep coming back so the babe is around for awhile. I met 1 of the owners, Freddy, and he is just a delight to talk with. I highly recommend it.“

They were delicious as well! Restaurant was clean and plenty of space at the table. I will be coming back here next time I'm in Salem.Kid-friendliness: Server and staff were great handling my six year old, brought her food out with our appetizer and she loved the ice cream sandwich dessert that is a part of the kids menu.“

“Absolutely loved everything about the Gulu . The alt/bohemian ambiance was choice and the food was delicious. My server PJ went out of his way to help us and was funny and charming and made great recommendations. I had the What a Funghi grilled portabella sandwich on delicious gluten free bread and a blue cheese apple and walnut salad with balsamic dressing who’s clever name escapes me. My husband enjoyed the max and cheese and I loved my simply divine cocktail the Maleficent, an absinthe cocktail with witchy purple flowers on top. If you like Seattle Grunge era vibes with a slightly more upscale aesthetic, this should be your place.Dietary restrictions: They have an entire gluten free menu!“

“Salem, MA, is an enchanting city that boasts a rich tapestry of history, intriguing social narratives, and an air of mystery. This city is renowned for its iconic landmarks, exceptional dining spots, and vibrant bars. I had the pleasure of being invited for a beer at one of its notable establishments, although I was cautioned that it leans more towards cocktails. The Dire Wolf not only met but surpassed my expectations. With a soundtrack featuring the likes of Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, and INXS, the ambiance is undeniably steeped in classic rock vibes, setting the stage for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The establishment is helmed by an incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming host, and the offerings are complemented by fresh, quality ingredients - albeit generously portioned - that perfectly match the excellent and carefully curated selection of beers.Observing the surroundings, I noticed an atmosphere filled with good spirits, visually appealing and deliciously crafted cocktails. Indeed, the Dire Wolf stands out as a quintessential landmark in Salem, capturing the essence of the city's charm and vitality.“

“Why this place doesn't have at least 4 stars is beyond me. The bartenders are amazing, definitely the biggest selling point on us going three times in one day. The view is incredible and the drinks are good but the staff is the best! I think I ordered at least three apple cider mimosas which are one of my favorites as well as a few autumn mules. We did not eat at The Roof but it was pretty quick to get a seat at the bar. Next time I am in Salem I will absolutely be back.“
