“I had never had Ethiopian food before. We came in and asked for a recommendation. They gave us this great platter with a bunch of different little freshly made foods. We also got a plate of this awesome spongy sour bread to pick the food up with. It was SO GOOD! I think everyone should visit this restaurant. :)“

Rimyya Friendship Bar And Restaurant Cop African •
529 Ellice Ave, Winnipeg

“This restaurant is fairly new but the waitress that works here is always kind and smiling no matter what time of the day it is. This place is also very unique and interesting because it serves African cuisine and Italian pasta dishes and pizzas. The price is pretty reasonable as well. I ate here on two different occasions and loved the meals each time! I got to try 2 different vegetarian dishes. The first time I came here I ordered "Foule." It's basically a big dish with Fava beans and vegetables, it comes with bread, butter and this delicious sour cream. It's my favorite dish at this restaurant. The second time I visited which was today I picked "Special Fata" to try. I don't usually like spicy stuff but I was hungry and I felt like being brave. This meal is very well crafted. It is spicy but the yogurt that comes with it neutralizes the spicy-ness. I added some salt to the spicy bread and it was pretty exquisite, my tastebuds were happy. I highly recommend Winnipegers and others to be adventurous. Come here and try this cuisine! For those less brave there is always pasta and pizza too.“

“I was craving Jollof Rice and originally went to a place that sevres already prepared Jollof Rice but it was closed. Went to Akins and I do not regret it. The pricing was fair; I got the Chicken Jollof Rice and a drink and paid under 20. The portioning was good; I probably would have had some left over but I was hungry and it left me full and satisfied. I had a whole take out container and they even filled one of the smaller areas with rice. The rice was perfect; oily but not too oily, good spice, firm but soft and cooked all the way through. For the chicken, I got two legs thoughI prefer a thigh and leg. That being said the flavor of the chicken and the texture were nice. The plantains were the best I have ever had; They weren't slice but I did not mind that at all bc when they are sliced they are not as juicy and flavorful as these ones were. I will go back to try other dishes and I will recommend to others. also, I didn't eat there but the restaurant was clean, comfortable and nice looking. would have taken pic but I ate it all already X)“
