What a great spot to grab a drink and a bite with some friends. We ordered a few appetizers and a couple of round of drinks after work. The place got pretty busy, but our 1 bartender was able to handle it all with ease and warmth!

Classic corner pub. Great chicken pot pies, low-key atmosphere with no TVs, and nice outdoor seating. We need to protect the remaining places like this in Fells.

I am a frequent regular at Penny Black. It's a nice change of pace on Fell's, if you're bar hopping, it's a perfect breather. Very quiet and nice atmosphere, perfect if you'd rather have nice conversation than hear a band. It's one of the few bars with outdoor seating where you can smoke a cigarette and get some work done.No matter where you are sitting, the staff is always insanely accommodating and will ensure you get drinks and food in a timely manner.Kid-friendliness: By day, this is much more of a restaurant atmosphere, and can generally be seen as kid-friendly any time before around 8

Lived in the neighborhood for over a year and just had the chance to stop in for lunch. Place was completely empty which normally is not a good sign but the experience was great. Friendly service, good food, and nice atmosphere. Also, for the location prices are very reasonable. Definitely recommend stopping in for a bit and drink.

Cool spot near the water. Quiet with candlelit. Service was pretty good.

Pro tip: ask to be seated in the “dining room” with the warm fire. John is a wonderful waiter and the wings are the best in the city.

I had drinks at Penny Black a few weeks ago with a friend who lives in the area, and I really enjoyed it. It had definite vibes - old school, traditional neighborhood bar vibes. It feels retro and cool without seeming to try too hard. The service was good, and - while I stuck to classic cocktails - the drinks were good as well. Definitely a cool spot I'd be happy to find myself at again.

Came here for a holiday party, so we were seated in the back room. It was very comfortable for our party of almost 25 people -- cozy and cute! We had one server dedicated to our party, so it wasn't the fastest service but he was very friendly. As a bonus, there was a Bluetooth speaker available in the room for us to play our own music! The drinks were great. They have a good selection of beers and wines that will appeal to most folks, and a cocktail menu with about 10 items. The French 75 was my personal favorite! Food was hit or miss. Overall, the happiest amongst our group were those who ordered sandwiches. The spicy chicken and oyster po boy were the two most popular. They have two pot pies (chicken or oyster) listed under a separate heading on the menu, which I assumed would make it a hearty option, but was a bit disappointed. The pot pie came out very thin, almost like a soup, and was not very filling. They do have a variety of fish entrees as well, which I will probably try next time!

This is a quintessential Baltimore Fells Point bar. It's one of the few places that serves food late. It's bar food, nothing to write home about but sometime the food shocks you, in how good it can be. I love the ambiance of the bar - there's something about the tin roof and the red light of Penny Black that casts a glow. There's a decent beer on tap selection but you don't come here for cocktails or wine. It's a dive bar! The staff is friendly usually the same career bartenders which makes it feel so special. It's quieter than other fells point bars which is the best. You almost feel transported when you come in here.

We sat at the bar and the bartender explained to us the history of the physical bar and how the building procured it after it sailed internationally on a ship in the early 1900's. Great spot to grab dinner and drinks.

Penny Black is a fantastic resturant located right in Fells Point. They offer not only a great drink but also a fantastic menu. This was our first trip to Baltimore and this was the first place we ate. I had the Crab Cake sandwich which offered fresh crab and hand cut fries that were some of the best I've ever had. The hostess was wonderful and managed the whole bar by herself. Fantastic place to visit while in Baltimore!
