This place is inconsistent. I was trying to order a custom cake for a special occasion, checked their website, and called many times. No one answer the phone! Finally I went to the store, talked to a woman. The price on their website saying a basic 6" is $55, the woman told me it's $65, in two minutes, she said " or no, it's $75". Ok, then, when I emailed the person to order the cake , she relied me with a price of $85 for a basic 6" cake with almost no decoration! Ridiculous!

The cake is amazing and the baked goods are so fabulously delicious and they look great! The chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream are a family fave. The sticky buns that are only made on weekends are my favorite in the area. The cookies are just the right level of chewy and crunchy. I go to every bakery in the area and this has become my go to in Bethesda. This high quality bakery really makes a memorable moment better. You won’t regret going.

They made delicious and lovely cakes. The deal went over so easily. They truly understand our cake preferences.

Just stopped in for a treat. Loved the key lime bar, brownie with a scoop of ice cream! Looking forward to going back to try the cookies!! ??

I don't think I've ever given a business just 1 star before, but I think I must this time. In all fairness, they were very accommodating to bake a birthday cake for me with just 2 days notice when I was told they usually require a 3 week lead time. First, communication was less than desirable. I ordered over the phone, then decided to stop by to confirm. The staff person who'd taken my order got the wrong date. I called on the day to confirm the pick up time, only to receive a recording that the business was closed & wouldn't open till the next day. Frantic texts, emails, & phone messages ensued. Got a call back from Megan telling me that, while the business was indeed closed, bakers were there to take payment & hand over the cake. It would've been nice if that info was on the recording or she'd mentioned that in previous communications. Now to the cake which was very pretty. However, it was mostly icing when sliced. I ordered a strawberry short cake, and there were precious few strawberries between the 3 layers. I've never even heard of a strawberry short cake in layers with butter cream frosting....and a LOT of that. Maybe it's my bad for not realizing the nature of their cakes....but it's their bad for not explaining it to me since I'm a new customer. It never even occurred to me to ask if a strawberry short cake came as a multi layer cake with butter cream frosting. Sent pic to the baker/owner (?) but haven't heard back. Good bakery if you like a LOT of icing. Oh, and they do bake gluten free cakes. My cake actually was moist & tasted good after we all scraped away all the icing, which made a big mess.

I worked with Fancy Cakes by Leslie for my wedding last May. It was such a smooth and easy process, and they were extremely responsive. If you're not won over during the cake sampling part, I can't help you. There are so many options to choose from and they have a beautiful gallery if you're unsure of what design you want. The day of the wedding was seamless and to make it easier, they worked directly with the reception venue and florist (fresh florals were added to the cake the day of) so I could enjoy my day. The icing on the cake (pun intended) - we got a complimentary smaller version of our wedding cake for our 1-year anniversary. I highly recommend them!

This review is long overdue - my sister got married in October and I threw a bridal shower for her in September. She loves "Steel Magnolias" and has always wanted an Armadillo Cake for her bridal shower. As you can see from the pictures, Fancy Cakes by Leslie did a beautiful job, and the cake was delicious. But that's not what prompted me to leave a review. On the way home from the bakery, despite driving carefully, one of the armadillo's ears broke in half. We called to get advice on repairing - and the baker said she would come to our house in the morning before the shower and repair the cake! She brought an entirely new ear over and within 15 minutes he was good as new. I was blown away by this level of service and will be using this bakery for every event I have in DC for the foreseeable future.

Their treats tastes like expired milk... Also don't expect your custom cakes to be perfect

Their cookies and brownies are absolutely delectable and my eyes don't know where to go when I'm inside their store. Cupcakes are definitely better than Georgetown

Attractive and creative selection of cup cakes; Although frosting was tasty across the selections, the underlying cakes were universally mealy, bland and disappointing.

I can't say enough about this place. Fancy Cakes is THE place to go for your special events. If you want your dessert done right, Fancy Cake will put your mind at ease. This cake was the highlight of my wife's 50th Birthday. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

I walked over to ask about a cake . The posted hours were until 5pm . It was 4:27 . The door was open . Someone walked over and closed the door and said we are closed . Basically closed it on my face . No explanation either . Pathetic and very rude . I'll be taking my business elsewhere .

I would not recommend this place if you need a cake for a birthday party or a special occasion. I preordered a cake and they sold me a 5 day old cake. This place was recommended to me by a food blogger and of course I went and ordered a cake on Wednesday for my son's birthday. Since my kids saw the cookies after we walked around and lunchtime I went back to get them some cookies from this place. The cake ordered for Sunday had a sold sign on it. When I questioned them why, she said I'm sorry I will move to the back and they could not understand that I did not want a five day old cake for my son's birthday. I went on Sunday and picked it up as instructed after 12 o'clock. I looked at the cake and it did not look fresh but I didn't say anything and I took it home. When my son was cutting the cake a triangle piece 3" x 2 1/2 x 3" fell off the side frosting and cracked on the ground like dry masonry. A month later after I returned back I went and I talked to the managers about the situation and what happened and I was very clear saying I didn't want anything in return. They were very indifferent and lack of care in the situation and did not even give me a business card and say please next time you need a cake call me or email me. none of that just OK, thank you & goodbye. I would never buy a cake from this place or any other pastry from this place ever again and the 12 families at the birthday party will never buy from this place again. Sad.

A cheery staff and delicious desserts- what more could you want! For my birthday, I was surprised with the most delicious multilayered chocolate cake filled with a rich chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries.Their cupcakes and treats are so yummy. My favorites include the raspberry cheesecake brownies and the red velvet and mint oreo cupcakes.
