I had not dined at House of India for a long time and decided to have dinner here while I was in the neighborhood last night, a Saturday. Dinner was wonderful -- vegetable samosas (spicy but not too much!), chicken tikka, roti. Wine by the glass did not seem over-priced compared to trend I've been seeing at other places, and it was a generous quantity that lasted through the meal. Restaurant interior is nicely decorated and feels very cozy at the same time, though they look ready to handle a crowd. I'm glad that they have avoided putting up any large TV screens, which can spoil dining out rather than provide a distraction, in my opinion.

I recently enjoyed a family dinner at the House of India, the best Indian and Nepali restaurant in the Columbia area. It surpassed my expectations. The owner is incredibly cool, and the staff are truly awesome. The authentic flavors and warm hospitality make it a standout dining experience. Highly recommended!

Great lunch special that includes something like 8 items in your lunch, available on weekends too (but they are closed Mondays). No more buffet at House of India. I hate going to an Indian restaurant and having to order just one item and then pay extra for naan. The lunch special had meat (there is a vegetarian option too), two veggies, rice, naan, samosa, papadum and dessert. Quite a lot of food.

This used to be an excellent restaurant but after 2018, the food turned terrible. I ordered from House of India during the pandemic in 2020 and the food was disgusting. It ended up in trash. I visited this place out of curiosity in September of 2023 and again I was totally disappointed. Everything was bad, the chutney, naan, cocktails and the main course. Everything had an unpleasant flavor and didn’t taste good, not even the dinks. House of India has probably been the worst Indian restaurant in Columbia for the past five years or so. It is very disappointing when I remember what fantastic food they were serving in 2013 when I first discovered this place, and for the next few years.

Always a great experience. It’s changed hands many times over the 15 years I’ve been gong there but they have retained some of the same staff throughout. Different chefs over the years, but still a staple in our family. I have enjoyed it with friends and family alike. Authentic food, great pricing, courteous and attentive staff.

Appearance wise it’s not the fanciest but the food is pretty good. One of the best I’ve had in MD. And the service is excellent. The servers are so kind. Definitely recommend.

Excellent food with a lot of choice (one of my guests was vegan, non gluten.) Two of us had chicken masala. Plenty of space here with booth and table seating. Prompt, friendly, and helpful service. (Note; at midday on Friday it was not crowded.) Prices very reasonable, and we could save and take home extra food. This is a great place if you want to converse and be heard while eating--no loud music!

Great first experience at House of India!Food: For an appetizer we had the vegetable samosas. They came out hot and had excellent flavor. We ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Lamb Biryani for the entrees. The meat used in the Lamb Biryani tasted fresh and was flavorful. The raita that accompanied the biryani was delicious. The Paneer Tikka Masala was perfect! I greatly appreciated them making it not spicy for me. The portion sizes were generous with extra to take home. The garlic naan was warm, fluffy, and perfectly cooked.Service: Extremely attentive, kind, and polite individuals. They made us feel at home.Atmosphere: Comfortable booths and warm decor. I enjoyed the relaxing music that was played low so it wasn’t distracting. The restaurant was clean and attractive.10/10 would return! A great hidden gem in the Columbia area that would be tried.
