“I'm 46 years old, I've been to all 50 states, and visited over a dozen different countries. The salmon at Thai Zapp might have been the best cooked salmon I have eaten. The food wasn't as spicy as I expected, but that's my own fault for being too nervous to ask for the extra spice. The atmosphere here was as expected from a small restaurant. Lots of Thai nick-nacks on the walls and shelves. I will definitely return here.“

“Twisted Bakesters provides delicious baked goods prepared in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. We ordered the German Chocolate cake and it was delicious! Three generous layers of moist chocolate cake covered by frosting and coconut. We will definitely be back for more.“

Jango's Frozen Treats Ice Cream Shop • $$
9100 Bay Ave, North Beach - 7.02 miles

“I was 21 years old when my body decided I wasn't allowed to drink milk anymore. It wasn't a choice I made, or even wanted to make. After years of consuming all the cheeses, creams, and shakes, my intestines said "no more"-- well... no more without consequences, at least. The shame I've had of my daughter asking me "daddy, why didn't you get one too?" as I pay for her dairy-laced cup of wonder from the cold stone... and I have to remind her that her dad is a milk bigot. When we moved to the beach, there was only one ice cream shop in town, a common dairy distributor. It could satisfy my kid, but did very little for me. That was until a new shop opened up. Enter Jango's Frozen Treats. The friendly display was coupled with the most beautiful phrase I've ever seen: "Lactose-Free". It was too good to be true, I thought. I assumed it was another sorbet shack or Italian ice place, or nothing that even resembles ice cream. Nope. REAL flavors like chocolate, birthday cake, vanilla, and salted caramel! The conveniently placed benches provided a perfect sitting spot for me and my daughter to sit down and share the good times... danger-free frozen goodness on a warm summer day. And the best part is, she likes it just as much as real ice cream. Jango's is a great addition to North Beach and a great addition to my life, with a wonderful staff to boot!“
