I showed up with my girlfriend and immediately the atmosphere there was very hostile, and it only got worse from there. The staff there were bery unwelcoming, and even refused us service at all like thwy just didn't want us to bw there at all. We were literally the only other people there so it wasn't like they were busy at all

I think both service and music here have gotten worse for real, I brought and recommended so many people here, but returning to this place wasn't what I have hopedThey spent the whole night playing ancestral music at a 2024 club, no hookah, nothing fun at all. The service was terrible, terrible music, nothing was worth the time. This is my last time here. They should close their doors. It's not worth anything at all. There are so many African clubs which will tend to all groups and have better services, drinks and music is pathetic. They should also throw away whoever chose the DJ, no one is having fun there at all. Someone people are only getting up just because not because they are moved. Georgia Ave NW in DC have better African clubs with great music. Not the nonsense they are playing at kitchen near you.It used to be the best place but they are getting cocky with no idea on what people wants. They are playing for the owner and not the customers. I am beyond upset for having waste my time coming here when I could have gone on Georgia Ave NW for my new year and had the complete service and actually enjoyed myselfThey don't have hookah by the way, they are lying about actually having one. So if you are someone who like drinking and smoking hookah, don't waste your time coming here at all.

I absolutely love this place. This place has done a complete turn around. The music is 10/10. Great for people who enjoy amapiano, afrobeats and coupe décalé. Food was awesome too!

Kitchen Near You is an amazing place to get authentic west African cuisine. My order was handled with care and love & the young lady Pascale was very attentive to my request. I’ll surely recommend to my friends and family. Don’t think twice, just go to Kitchen Near You and have a nice meal. 10 stars if I could.

Service was good, the food amazing. We oder one fish to eat and one to take away. My friend is new to the area and I took him there. He really liked it and he would like to go back. It was nice African music sound.

I'm giving it 1.25 stars. My family is giving it a 0 and I'm giving it a 2.5. If it wasn't for the soya and Ekwang, I would also give it a 0. This place honestly sucks. I went there for Thanksgiving this week and the first thing I noticed was the smell. So those reviews were right. Also, the unknown brown splotches on the ground were, ugh. The service was fine though. But the food, ugh! at least the appetizers were good. But the eru and the ache were unedible. My grandma and sister couldn't even finish it because it was terrible. The "fufu" is still in the fridge. I'm just glad I ordered the Ekwang. Some minor things I have to complain about are the choice of music and the bathroom door being too dark. So it was hard for everyone but me to figure out that they were going into the wrong bathroom. In conclusion, I don't recommend this "cuisine" because it sucks. The sad thing is, just like one of the reviews said, it has so much potential. Especially since my mom said that it WAS clean and good. (Also, this Thanksgiving was the most "africanish" Thanksgiving out of all of the ones I have celebrated. Sad if you think about it)
