Amazing spot near the airport. Had some time to kill when my son and I landed at BWI and saw this place had great reviews. So glad we stopped! The service was friendly, prices were reasonable, and food was fantastic. We ate upstairs in the porch area overlooking the road and getting some fresh fall air. We're from MN so it was the first pit beef for both of us. Best meal of our trip and it happened within 15 minutes of landing!

To me, there's nothing more Baltimore when it comes to food than a perfect fit beef sandwich on a Kaiser roll. This little place pulled it off flawlessly. Friendly service. Nice eating areas upstairs. Pit beef was perfectly cooked and stacked with onions. Will come back next time we're in the area.

Come here if you would like a juicy, thin-sliced, flavorful, smoky, rare pit beef sandwich! I ordered mine with extra meat. They gave me nearly a pound of rare pit beef on a Kaiser roll. The prices here very reasonable. The counter service is speedy. Most of the customers come here regularly, as the staff know most of the patrons names. Keep in mind this is a lunchtime establishment. The hours are 10am to 2pm. This restaurant gets 10 stars for cleanliness. My only gripe is that they don’t have free tap water. You have to buy bottled water if you want water.

Always on the lookout for a great pit beef sandwich (aka MD BBQ), wanted to give this play a try. This is complicated because they only serve pit beef during lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. This sandwich is almost a complete 180 from the last pit beef sandwich I ate from Beefalo Bobs. Unlike their overly smokey beef, The Pit Sandwich barely had any smoke flavor. The beef was sliced out of an alto shaam (hot box) rather than off a pit. The result was nicely cooked, if not a little cool, beef that really lacked any pit flavor/texture. It would have benefited from salt and pepper. Not saying it was not good, but was more like roast beef than pit beef. Pioneer still reigns supreme. On to the next one.

Definitely a great spot for lunch on Thursdays or Fridays if you're in the area! Had the Baltimore double sausage and it was delicious. Definitely will return to try the rest of the pit beef menu!

Thursdays and Fridays they do Pit Beef, Turkey, and Ham and it is outstanding. Highly recommend you try this place if you're around. You will not be disappointed but you may encounter a line depending on when you try to go.
I have to travel 1.5 hours to Linthicum Heights, from VA on business (every now and again). My wife "Makes Sure" that I schedule it on a Thursday or Friday so I can bring home "several" pit beef sandwiches!

4.5/5Very friendly service at homemade BBQ and the sides. They are only open Thursday and Friday 10-2. Delicious ham, macaroni salad and baked beans ($12 for combo meal with large servings) that were not overly sweet. West River BBQ is still number #1 IMO but this is still a great place for BBQ.BBQ sauce bought at Sprouts was excellent on the pit ham.
Best pit beef and chicken salad!
