“Moved to Gray recently , was asking around about pizza, as I grew up in NY and we eat it 3 days a week down there . Anyway , I ordered a plain cheese pizza the first time I went, and that was so good I just did the same tonight. Very close to NY style pizza, more specifically long island pizza where I grew up.. They definitely put some good stuff in their dough as it is seriously on another level of anywhere else I been in 13 years in Maine . And it being a HOP, looking forward to getting the Gyro next!!”

“Flavorful, upbeat and great service. Had a reservation at the bar and was happy to see how quickly and meticulously the staff worked and how kindly the Chef treated his staff.
The cobb salad left a lasting impression on me. It even inspired me to recreate it at home a few days later. The bone marrow toast was like a French onion soup on bread but better! Suckling pig and foie gras were ok. Wish I could of stayed longer and tried more dishes but had to run to another reservation. I will definitely be back.”

“Last month our flight to Portland was delayed a considerable amount of time due to weather issues and it looked as though we would not be able to make our 5p.m. reservation. My daughter called from the tarmac in Boston where we were rerouted and refueled and explained the situation. The hostess, Susie, was very understanding and compassionate And said that even though our table was booked for another party a 7, we should come in and she would see what she could do. We got there late but Susie greeted us warmly and told us not to worry about being rushed that she had arranged things so no one would be inconvenienced. The atmosphere was warm and cozy; the food so very delicious and our waitperson, Anika, was the best. Atmosphere, impeccable service, food and warmth all rate 5 stars and another visit next time we are in Portland.”

“The Gelato Fiasco in the Old Port is always a fun stop when you want something sweet. There are a ton of flavors to choose from, the gelato is rich and smooth, and the staff is usually happy to let you try a few before deciding. It can get busy, but the line moves well and it’s definitely worth stopping in while you’re walking around downtown Portland.”

“Leeward is a phenomenal restaurant with food better than we’ve had in Italy. It has a carefully curated and thoughtful wine list, and the servers are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

The one issue that detracts from the experience is the kitchen’s repeated failure to pace courses. Notwithstanding the fact that we have pleaded with servers on multiple occasions, busers continue to deliver plates before we finish each course. The result is feeling rushed rather than exhilarated by the Leeward’s incredible dishes. We hope the kitchen manager takes heed of this persistent problem since Leeward is one of our favorite destinations on the planet.”

“Truly an all 5 star reviewed place exists! We were looking for a place to eat with our dog in tow while driving through Portland. This place is amazing. The flavor combination with curry and Vietnamese flavors, the fresh ingredients, the friendly staff, the cute patio seating (we were under a yellow umbrella so the photos are very yellow), our picky kids devoured the food, and our favorite two hard candies were gifted at the end. Wish we could have tried more items on the menu. I think couple of items were sold out, but it was already updated on their website as we were approaching. The pork belly and mushroom wontons were especially delicious, and the local tap water even was sweet.”

“Just finished one of the BEST Italian meals ive ever had in my restaurant going life in a place id never have expected to and thats saying something being a 1st Generation Italian coming from NY ! ViA VECCHiA is Portland, Maine was absolutely 10/10 on everything they did! We started with Meatballs, Whipped Ricotta & Grilled Octopus. The meatballs reminded me of my mothers, the ricotta was tremendous with truffle honey & sesame breadsticks and the octopus was grilled perfectly. One dish was better than the next. We shared ravioli with as an entree and we never felt gross like we ate too much. The portion sizes were PERFECT. Wrapped the night off with a espresso infused cheesecake over salted caramel. Wow. Staff was incredibly accommodating, professional and polite. Service was excellent! If youre ever in Portland, ME you must go get a meal here!”
