Last year I was looking for someone who could make a custom birthday cake for my daughter. A relative told me they got their cakes from Tara. So, I reached out to her. Only a small queue to buy but a long one to go inside and eat, so I just took mine to the park. I’m from Hong Kong, so I’ve had many egg tarts but these are definitely the best I’ve ever had. The pastry is flakey but very crispy, allowing it to be so thin.
....as in churn out the pasteis, churn over the tables. That is not to say that this place is disappointing - it is a good pastry shop and it has the best coffee americano that I have found (so far) in Lisbon. But it is a tour destination with about 500 tables dispersed among 4 or 5 small dining alcoves, a patio and a large court-sized room.
