I've gone 3 times during normal operating hours and this particular location has been closed. Updating hours on Google would go a long way.

This is the best coffee I have found in the Portland area so far! This location is small, but has an excellent selection of whole bean coffee to choose from and the cashier is always helpful and gives good recommendations. I’ve heard Speckled Ax does a coffee subscription and I am extremely tempted to try it…

Visiting from Cleveland and this is one of the best coffees I’ve had. Perfect balance of flavors and acidity. The employee was friendly and quick. Definitely worth a stop!

Speckled Ax is probably the best coffee in the world. I recently moved to Portland, ME, after having lived in Seattle, Washington for 9 years, which was after living in Los Angeles for over a decade. I used to say that the best coffee in the world came from Portland, OR. But the best coffee in the world (in my opinion) comes from Portland, ME.Sometimes, I send coffee from here to my buddy in Seattle so he can catch a glimpse of what he's missing. If there's a better coffee out there, I haven't had it.

Went on a slow Saturday and got a latté and a pastry-- both were good. There isn't anywhere to sit but the inside was nice.Parking: Easy parking.

I first encountered the amazing coffee flavor from wood fired roasting in downtown Portland several years ago, and that experience has stuck with me since, so I was really thrilled to find the Speckled Ax location on Walton last weekend! Long story on why I was on the outskirts of Portland with less than 30 minutes to find a good coffee spot, and since I was so far removed from downtown, the likes of 7-11 and the dreaded Dunkin popped up as close by, so I was SUPER relieved to see another Speckled Ax location just 6 minutes from the Portland Friends Meetinghouse where I was to pick up my son. It was super easy to find, and unlike downtown, ya just pull up and park! There is nothing flashy about the space, but that's the point right. You don't come here for pizzaz and flash, you come for a great cup of coffee and conversation. Didn't catch the barista's name, but he gave me a friendly greeting and then we had a nice chat while he pulled a shot of espresso to set up my iced latte. Tragedy struck when I spilt that beautiful iced latte all over the counter, but no worries, my man made another real quick, and insisted that I not clean it up. Not surprisingly, the drink was delicious and robust. There is something completely unique about the flavor of their espresso, it seems like it has a sweetness to it, but a sweetness with an edge. A perfect balance of milk ice and espresso crossed my taste buds and I knew I had the perfect drink companion for the drive back to West Hartford CT. My girlfriend found the little garen area from the food program next door, and so we sat and watched the bees and soaked in the beautiful fall day for bit, and I"d recommend you do the same. I'm looking forward to our next trip through Portland to check out the other location!

This tiny location is convenient to my travels & serves up the best coffee and baked goods Portland has it offer.

The coffee was okay, but a tad sour tasting and there were no indoor seats.
