Truly delightful. Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders who make great cocktails, and a really wonderful atmosphere. We loved it and wanted to bring the whole thing home so we could go anytime! It's a perfect place to just relax and enjoy a really great drink.

Based on the reviews, it is clear that some people don't know a good bourbon bar. Noah, the owner, is so accommodating and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is perfect for those who truly want to relax and enjoy a good drink. We wish we had a bourbon bar like this in Pennsylvania.

This used to be a steakhouse now it's a bar and lounge (drinks and apps/lighter fares) it's a beautiful setting. Good for meeting friends/coworkers or even a date

My husband and I used to frequent Timber alot back when Henry was the Bartender. He made a very good drink. Our Old Fashioned was so extremely sweet I almost could not drink it. There were so many things wrong with the meal. The rolls are so sweet, nothing you would expect in a fine dining establishment, and with the amount of great bake shops with awesome bread in Portland it would not be hard to find an exceptional bread offering. The service was good and the salad was great. On to the actual meal. We have no problem spending 65 dollars on an outstanding steak, but at that price it had better be outstanding. They are not. The sauce on the Steak au Poivre was very salty and lacked flavor. The Ribeye was mediocre at best. There have been many visits that have just been okay and we keep returning because we have such fond memories of our visits. Sadly, this place needs to get a new chef or get someone to come in and consult. Clearly the owner is trying to save money and take on more of the responsibilities, but maybe its not something he should be doing. I sincerely want this establishment to be great so I can return, but i think for now we are probably done.

To quote the words of Al Pachino in Dog Day Afternoon, "Kiss me. I love to be kissed while I'm getting _ _ _ _ _ _!" It looks like a typical, small pub, but it's priced like a high end steakhouse - which it is not. A 10 oz filet will set you back $59 and that includes NOTHING. I take that back. It did include one little Hawaiian-like roll per person of which two of the three were scrunched up. Want a baked potato? That will set you back $8.00 in a state known for its potatoes. Pressed for time, I ordered the 10 oz "Big Juicy Burger" for a mere $26. The burger was good, not $26 worth of good, and the fries that came with it were not firm or crisp, they were limp. This is a place that is priced to be something it is not. It is not a high-end steakhouse in any sense of the word with the exception of price. In terms of ambiance, the tight tables and settings, it feels like a pub. The final insult was the fact that if you choose to use a credit card, you are charged an additional 4%! Of course, that's fair because we all know that nobody uses credit cards anymore. I will say the waitress was very nice. I feel sorry for her.

Drinks are way overpriced for Portland Maine, meal was brought out plate by plate. Mashed potatoes were brought out first and were cold, then the Maine course. The steak was great but the service and delivery needs a lot of work for the prices they are charging. Then get the bill and a premium is charged if you don’t pay with cash! I bet the IRS would like to look at their books.

Horrible food definitely a stretch from the truth. Gourmet sautéed carrots were definitely just baby carrots with butter on them sautéed spinach was just boiled spinach it tasted like for a $65 steak it was horrible and the risotto tasted pasty not creamy. I would’ve been better off going to a cheesy place like Longhorn definitely overpriced and over rated between three of us our bill was 400.00. The waiter was shocked none of us wanted to bring our food home.we will never be going there again stay far away !!!! Save your money

The good: one of the best filets I've ever had that practically melted in my mouth. The bad: they add an additional 4% to your bill's total just to use a credit card AND their suggested tip amounts are after tax!Turnoffs: everything is ala cart. If I'm paying $60 for a steak, I'd expect potato and a veggie to accompany it and not have to pay an additional $25 for it.

Way overpriced. Salads were overdressed and the steaks were tasteless. However the service was good and the owner thanked us for coming in.

This is one time I should have read the reviews before going here. The last few reviews are spot on about outrageous prices and small portions. The bartender was friendly and attentive. So the mandatory one star will go to him. We split two appetizers, chicken wings and mozzarella sticks. The wings were 16 bucks. They were 6 of the puniest wings I have ever seen. Obviously these poor chickens were malnourished. 6 wings for 16 bucks, really. The mozzarella sticks were frozen straight out of bag. Again 6 for the magical 16 bucks. Do yourself a favor and walk by this place.

Went to Timber this past Wednesday and it was the worst meal I've had in years. We dine out a lot and I can honestly say the food at Timber is awful. Ordered popcorn shrimp appetizer. They tasted fine but they were frozen not fresh. Ordered $65 steak (medium rare). When I got the steak it was pale so I already knew it was undercooked. My suspicion was confirmed when I cut into it and the streak was raw. Sent it back and they got the temp right. Gave me the same steak, which is fine, but it was chewy as hell. Steak quality was bad to terrible. Almost like they're buying it at Market Basket or something. Waitress was nice but she never apologized nor did anyone else come over to address the issue. For $65 a steak, in Portland, it should be perfect. I usually don't write reviews good or bad but had to share this experience.

Timber is one on the more expensive places to eat in Portland but the food does not meet the price tag. You leave angry at the money you just wasted instead of WOW what a great meal. I feel bad for tourists who come here. Completely overrated. Much better places in Portland. Don’t be fooled.

Really nice waitstaff, nice atmosphere, but outrageously priced food. I got the risotto with jumbo shrimp. The shrimp were small and the risotto was bland. And it cost $46. I wanted a glass of Chardonnay and was going to order a glass or a bottle of Butter, but it was $16 a glass and $60 a bottle. I bought a bottle last night for $12. I get the mark up deal at restaurants, but that's outrageous. They charge a 4 % up charge for using a credit card. Most people don't carry wads of cash, but thank goodness we did tonight. My husband ordered a filet which came with 5 supposedly Jumbo shrimp and asparagus. For $66..... yikes. And we're not picky or easy to please but for the price, you're better off at Wendy's

Overpriced for the food. I was here for their happy hour and got their daily premium cocktail ($8); on that day it was some raspberry concoction and it was only super sweet and little boozy. As far as cocktails go, it was not good. My partner ordered a local beer(I guess it's local; shipyard for $4.50) which was just ok. For appetizers we got popcorn shrimp for $10 (that's their happy hour price) which was oil heavy and not much flavor to be honest. For the price, it was not good food. We didn't stay for dinner (considering it was too expensive and not to mention several other restaurants in the area to try) but I don't expect anything spectacular given the prices (even with the NYC standards that I am used to). Hostess was friendly: bartender not so much. It's 2 star from my experience of their happy hour. TIP: they have a 4% cash discount
