“Call ahead as brewery is semi-appointment only with larger tasting room planned for next summer. Unique, must-do experience with first hand look at one of the oldest craft brewing operations in Maine. Loved talking to knowledgeable brewer – his passion for beer and the Maine craft scene really shows! Enjoyed great samples and walked away with some delicious affordable cans.“
“We found this place randomly. Jeff and Reina were amazingly gracious hosts. Jeff let my friend play drums and music there, of the breweries we went to in Portland this was our best experience in the entire city. They have house made beers on tap and they were great. it was such an enjoyable experience.“
“Had a quick stop in Portland ME and booked the brewtour. SO many breweries, so little time....even though only myself and husband were the only 2 beer tourists, Joe still showed up and gave us a fantastic tour! Three Strong Spirits! You all rock. Loved your hospitality! Lone pine and Urban Farm, loved your selections and friendliness! We'll be back, Joe! Thanks for a fun time, Sue & Brent“
“Great brewery! We stopped in on the way to the airport. A lot of IPAs and hoppy beers (not our thing) but we still found yummy beers. Taproom is outside in a heated tent and they have little tent/cubbies with their own heaters. I would love to drink beers here on a random day when it is dumping outside.Lots of merch. Good Food truck. Kids loved grilled cheese, burger. Hook/string game outside. Super friendly staff at the bar and merch area.Would love to come back on our next trip to Maine!“
“Foundation Brewing is a fantastic delight. We had the opportunity to meet one of the four owners tonight and she was so friendly. Tina runs the tasting room, if you see her while you're enjoying the beer or pizza... make sure to ask her some questions about her hometown (Detroit, MI) or how Foundation Brewing came to be a local micro-brew.The pizza is a light, fluffy and crunchy exploration in all the best ways you could imagine. I think this brewery is getting the absolute most out of what space they have to work with and their staff is so friendly/helpful/patient. I'm committing myself to returning over and over and being (hopefully) a regular :)10/10 would recommend to anybody in and around the Portland/Westbrook city line.“
“This was the final spot on our trip before we separated from our Boston friends after an awesome October weekend and they headed home. So glad this could be the last experience together, as it was a relaxing, inviting bar experience. The bartender/owner was super chill and the beers/cocktails we tried were all excellent. The vibes were perfect - had a great time.“
“Lone Pine is one of the best breweries in Portland! Shane is amazing! He had made me feel so welcome to the area! Rachael is also amazing! They know how to give great customer service! As a supervisor of a local hospital, the customer service is top notch! I would recommend this brewery to anyone! So amazing thanks to great staff like Shane and Rachael!“
“Root Wild Kombucha is filling a hole in our hearts left by Urban Farm. Their kombuchas are light and complex, more refreshing than funky (for the most part). They have both 1% and 4.5% kombuchas, and a few beers on tap. The atmosphere was inviting and friendly, and the staff was knowledgeable and engaging.“
“Wow, what a place. Only reason for four stars instead of five is that they don't have a regular food program. But man, are their beers fantastic. The space is very relaxed, the staff is just as fantastic (Katie was great), they have half pours for easy tasting, they have easy parking, and they have nice outdoor seating too. But the beer. Superb. The Star: very bright and citrusy, very drinkable. The Sun: similarly citrusy but creamier. The Moon: slightly less citrusy, creamy, malty, balanced. Among the best I've had. Loved all of them.“
“My husband Erik and I were married at Oxbow Beer Garden in Oxford and are nothing but impressed with the food/beverage, event execution and warm hospitality that was provided. We highly recommend hosting an event with Oxbow and/or visiting the beer garden for delicious pizza/beverages provided by their awesome staff!“
“This was a great place to eat and drink in Old Orchard. The ambience was clean and relaxed. The bartender was friendly. Coming from California, we picked this place as our first lobster roll to try in Maine and it did not disappoint! The beer was pretty good and went well with the food.“
“We received a recommendation from a local to stop by and check this place out. Great stop in a sea of breweries that are all right next to each other. The bartender was very helpful with picking from the large list of option with each new pour being great! The vibe was really chill and if we lived a little closer I know that this would be a spot on our weekly brew tour. Like I mentioned this craft house is in a spot with a handful of other breweries. Make sure that you take time to visit from IPAs to Sours you will not leave disappointed.“
“Beer rotation is always dope. Will be going back for a burger because you can get one for less than $10. I'm not a burger aficionado but that sounds like a really good deal. Will update the review with burger info when it's available“
“Amazing staff and service complimented by delicious drinks! The atmosphere is relaxing and changes depending on the season to spice things up! Great diversity of people and friendly for all age groups! Furthermore, I believe it is the best spot in Portland to enjoy some time off! On the staff topic, I have never been treated more like family at any establishment!“
“Another great brewery in Portland. They don't have flights which I don't love but you can get small pours of all their beers. They have some wine options as well if you aren't into beer. They serve some snacks but typically have a food truck on site. I'm not a huge beer fan but when they have a sour I typically get it. Large inside and outside seating area, which is great for big groups. They also have corn hole. A fun brewery to stop at, with lots of parking out back as well.“
“Steve and I recently tried Battery Steele Brewing and we enjoyed the beer that we had with little hesitancy. Little Flume was the name of the beer we had and was a Session IPA. There seems to be a series of Flume IPA'S in which most of them are more potent than the little version as they have double and triple IPA'S with the Flume title. We personally liked the Little Flume because like most Session beers it's very easy to drink and if so inclined probably spread out through the day as that is the idea with having this beer type. Flavor features to look for with Little Flume are citrusy, hoppy and subtle. The beer is hazy in appearance and light bodied which as I have said before often desired by Steve and myself when doing craft beer tastings.“
“This was a small tasting room compared to most other breweries I’ve visited in the past. However, this is where size really doesn’t matter as it boils down to the potency and flavor of their brews. I have never heard of them previously (also did not even know they were the first NE craft brewery) but noticed patrons walking in and out from the other side of the street. I asked a local friend that I was with and he simply told me to go get a flight in, which I did not hesitate in the least to do.Definitely was worth checking out when in the area. There were a bunch of locals hanging out in there with various brews in their hands. They were obviously proud of the place and welcomed me in as I ordered two flights to taste most of what they had to offer. $20 to taste 8 brews with lovely locals to chat with? Absolutely worth it.Good stuff. Definitely stop by if you’re traveling through.“
“The jams! You can reel me in with good music and you did...plus amazing beers! Amazing place to hang out, relax and they have food/snacks too. We did a flight to check out what they had to offer, and they did not disappoint! Great place to come to and they have some scheduler entertainment as well! Great service and staff who will recommend some great beers!“
“Great local brewery in Portland, love the friendly neighborhood feel here. Lots of open seating inside and out. Smaller bar inside with picnic tables. On nice days, the side wall opens up for more seating outside. Lot's of food trucks all lined up outside when we were there. Great options. Nice variety of beers on draft, they have flights available. I tried there machine, evergreen IPA and gold leaf. Very tasty and flavorful.“
“One of my favorite breweries in the nation let alone Maine. Always awesome staff and great taste in art and beer. However since they went exclusively to an outdoor cart for food purchases, instead of letting people bring in or deliver food from the many decent nearby restaurants- I think the experience has gone downhill. The cart used to be good too when it was a popup, but now that it's permanent their menu has gotten worse and so has their service. It makes me less likely to visit, knowing I will have to plan around meals at different locations or buy food I won't enjoy. There are a lot of good Westbrook restaurants with a diverse range of cuisines, I have enjoyed trying while also patronizing Mast Landing- being forced to instead forever eat from a very slow and mediocre food cart now, just feels wrong, and doesn't really match the brewery's carefully curated brand. I hope this gets fixed soon because I think Mast Landing is a great addition to downtown Westbrook, the right blend of relaxing and cutting edge- I don't want any reason to look elsewhere!“
“Shipyard BreweryIt is noteworthy to mention upfront that the brewers of Shipyard Brewery studied under Alan Pugsley.Alan Pugsley came to the U.S. in 1986 and started a brewery in Portland, Maine. His love of brewing led him to assist with the start of more than 80 breweries in North America. He learned his craft at the Ringwood Brewery in Hampshire, England.Shipyard brews on-site. I sampled four beers. Each beer had its own character and was went down very easy. Make sure to stop in for a brew or two if you find yourself in Portland, ME.“
“We ate there on St. Patrick’s day . We were seated upstairs and it was really nice and cozy . Service was great . We started with the onion ring appetizer. Delicious. We both had the corned beef dinner . It was a huge portion and really good . Fork tender ! Best I have ever had . The chef sent up 2 servings of mashed potatoes to us . The waitress said he felt the potatoes with the meal weren’t enough . They were but it was a really nice of him . Also delicious. Stout chocolate cake and an ice cream sandwich for dessert. Fabulous. Thanks for making our St. Patrick’s day so great . The food here is really outstanding.“
“Stopped by this establishment while hitting some of the local breweries in the area and it didn't disappoint. The beer was great, the vibe was awesome with super friendly and attentive staff there to help with any questions. Loved the fact that you had the choice of either partaking in the main area with some suds or go into the back room and play some shuffleboard to get the competitive juices flowing. The beer wasn't my favorite in comparison with some of the other breweries that we dove into on our day drinking tour. I think that I would come back here for a pop if I was partaking at Lone Pine and just walked up the small hill to the back.“
“This place was a very pleasant surprise. I went here for an office lunch and everyone one of us was impressed with the decor and layout. The staff was very friendly the seating and bar areas were well laid out. The food was really! Good. The only issue was the fries, which tasted good and were nice and crispy, had too much salt.“
“I've been a fan of Bissell Brothers since the early days, when they were still in the industrial park. I'm so surprised I haven't done a review yet. I loved Bissell Brothers from the beginning and there has never been another beer that has been able to top Substance. I can't believe how far they've come and how much if they've grown. Keep up the great work, BB!!!“
“Love this place, perfectly adequate pub food and a great atmosphere, and classic beer styles on tap. Totally worth a trip for a pint of classic ale and some comfort food! However you don’t want to run into this one doorman in about his mid 20’s. The guy seems to usually work the front door on busy nights. He is beyond rude and entitled. I hope he loses his job eventually because I love going there but don’t want to be bummed out or frustrated running into him. Acted like ID’ing me wasn’t his job and I was inconveniencing him!? I’m here to spend my money and have a good time, not be barked at or talked down to“
“Just came out and wanted to write a review in the car. We came here back when it first opened and decided to give it another try since it's been several years. I'm glad we did. I had their IPA to go with my Bang Bang Chicken wrap, my wife had the same beer with a Chicken Banh mi sandwich. The food was delicious! For just simple sandwiches they packed a lot of flavor. With a side of fantastic fries to split we left plenty full and happy. I gave the IPA 4 out of 5 stars, there are so many good beers now! Oh and we tried the homemade hot sauce and ended up buying a bottle. So good and the heat keeps coming as you dip your fries into it! South Portland is a nice little village now! It's nice to see this side of town growing into a nice place to visit.“
