If you’re interested in trying German food, this is a good place to go. We had no wait to sit down on 6pm on Sunday. The waitress was very hurried the entire time, rushing us during ordering and throughout the evening. We ordered and food came out quickly. The salmon pasta was just average at best. However, the potato pancakes were perfectly crispy and well balanced. My husband rated the Reuben a 4/5, he’s had better but would order it again. Overall, prices are quite steep for the amount and flavor of the food. Overall, not a horrible experience, but likely not a place we would return to again.

My family and I love this place, we have been to many German restaurants including one that used to be in Ann arbor and was related to them. It was called old German, and unfortunately it burned down. My children did an exchange student time in germany, and said, this place is the most comparable to what they had there. My son and I especially love their pan-fried chicken livers, with onions. My wife and daughter lean more towards the bratwurst. They have excellent spatzen / spaetzle, authentic German potato pancakes, beet salad etc... there are loads of authentic items on the menu that are fantastic - way too many to list here. They also have wonderful desserts, several varieties of beer and wine. All I can say is that this place is one of my favorite places to go to out of all the restaurants that we frequent. I highly recommend this place, the staff is wonderful, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere makes you feel as if you are in Germany. I give it two thumbs up in a full 5 stars!

Been going to Metzger's for 50 years, when they used to be located downtown and I was a student. Still great food and service. Sauerkraut and stuffed cabbage were really good. The Kolsch beer was as good it was when we were in Cologne.

The food is true German awesome! We often get takeout and it's always correct and delicious. Favorites for me are the tornados steaks, spaetzen, and the Creamy Garlic salad dressing.

My wife and I was there today for lunch (4-1-24). I had the "Metzger's House Specialty since 1928" - Sauerbraten and chose a salad and spaetzle for the 2 sides. The spaetzle was good but the "slow-roasted marinated beef" was terribly tough and very dry. The sour cream gravy was good, as was the salad. But I could barely cut the meat with a steak knife. Seriously. I would think that the House Specialty since 1928 would feature beef that could be cut with a butter knife. At least the beer and service was good. The onion pie appetizer was good also. My wife had the German Bratwurst. The menu said "lightly spiced" veal sausage. Indeed it was LIGHTLY SPICED. They weren't lying. Very little flavor at all. As an afterthought, she should have went with the German Mettwurst or Knackwurst unless you like very lightly spiced sausage. But the quality was good, just kind of bland. We'll go back again. The place is very cool inside. Plus I want to sit at their bar, looks awesome! I would still recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent food (especially the schnitzel!) but the best thing about our visit was the server, Leslie. She was attentive, friendly, kept our bread basket full and drinks topped off.
