The food is mediocre. The location is the draw. As an interracial couple we were denied our reservations. On two separate occasions. I wrote and spoke to the owner who just yelled, called me names, and threatened me with a law suit if I share my experiences. So I'll be watching the mail after this. I'll never go back. Terrible customer service, mediocre food and awful reservation procedure. The wait staff it pleasant.

Kind of a sleeper spot on State St! My husband and I didn't have a dinner reservation on a busy Thursday evening, and most restaurants we walked past on Liberty looked to be full with people waiting. We turned the corner on State and walked past Red Hawk, which looked to have plenty of capacity for walk ins. We went in and were seated right away. Right off the bat, I liked the look and feel of the interior! Cool bar, warm and modern. It does smell a bit like beer, but I don't mind that. We got a couple of apps and an entree to share family style. I also got a Bell's Two Hearted on tap, which you can never really go wrong with. Beer was nice and cold. - Beijing Duck Quesadilla with Mango Salsa. Loved this! It is really nothing like Beijing duck wraps haha, but nevertheless, the quesadilla is meaty and cheesy and the salsa adds the perfect brightness and some acidity (think it's mango and pickled onion). - Chicken Wings. It's listed on the menu as crispy and spicy. It was definitely crispy with a thick fried batter, but not spicy. Served with ranch and blue cheese. I enjoyed! It's not my husband's favorite style of chicken wing, but I like the crunchy crispy layer. The ranch was thick and seemed house made. - Traditional Red Hawk burger (cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red onion, dill pickle) with steak fries. This was a good burger! The veggies were fresh and crisp, and the burger juicy. Steak fries were done nicely. I dipped both in ketchup. We definitely left full and happy. One word of caution though (and why I took a star off) - the food is sodium heavy (I mean, especially with our choice of order so partly on us). But I actually woke up several times over night just super super thirsty. So maybe hydrate better than I did or order healthier items to balance things out a little better haha.

Great place to grab an evening bite in Ann Arbor. Decent service and food. Establishment doesn't have a college town feel eventhough it's right in the middle.

The experience was what really impressed us. Although they were very busy because of the Washington-Michigan game, the staff was very attentive and was super quick with refills and getting food and drinks to us. They even offered us a table that had a clear view of the TV later when it became available. That was thoughtful of them. Thanks!

I just had the privilege of devouring the GUMBO of shrimp, chicken and andouille sausages at the Red Hawk. The combination of authenticity, simplicity and savoir-faire in this dish made me fall off my chair. The quality and freshness of the ingredients splashed off the plate and the masterful preparation - brilliant in its simplicity - did the rest. Not only delicious, but also healthy and satiating. Anyone looking for unadulterated quality without fuss, at a fair price in pleasant surroundings, knows where to go.
