I would give a zero if I could. Very disappointed. We had reservations but when we got there, the restaurant was closed down. Permanently! We had to make this reservation months out. We show up and the door is locked and empty inside. Waste of a day and I had two very upset little girls. Open table should probably take the Mad Hatter option off their website. DO NOT BOOK.

Horrible!! I made reservations three months in advance. Received a reminder from open table of my upcoming reservation the day before. When I showed up for our scheduled reservation the doors were locked and the lights were off. My daughter and I looked inside the everything was gone. Just an empty room. We drove an hour and a half to get there to find out they are permanently closed. The bakery next door said they saw workers removing all the materials from the building for over a week. I had one very disappointed 7 year old little girl.

Wanted to check this place out. It's definitely unique spot. However went for lunch & sorry to say I can't recommend.

Idk how they're still open. The food is not good and their drinks are not a wow factor. But the worst part is the place is so run down now they haven't even bothered to fix it up. Anyway we got sick after coming here and never plan to go back again.

They served the tea as store-bought tea bags and brought them to your table to briefly look at and decide, rather than having a tea menu and serving pots of loose-leaf tea. The tea was served in a way no better than I would do at home, and the experience was not worth the money. Hopefully this is only due to staffing shortages and will change of additional people are hired.

Our experience was amazing! Had a party of 12 for my sisters birthday. Atmosphere is amazing we loved the theme of Alice in wonderland we hear renovations are coming soon and sure hope it stays as is with the Mad Hatter theme that was out sole reason for choosing this place! Our server "Bow Tie" was nothing short of amazing himself. He is definitely meant to do the job he does and it shows he loves what he does. Will definitely be returning!

So I was super excited to go to this place. Overall it was nice. Small and personal. However I'm a bit upset that it didn't live up to the hype. It's was kind of dingy in there and the service was mediocre. I thought it would have been a lot different felt pieced together to me. Could be because of covid and the lack of people eating out. The food was okay not really what I was expecting, it's more of a brunch place than anything. I was disappointed at the opportunities they missed for fun food ideas and drinks. All in all not bad atmosphere just not exactly what I thought it would be.

We took our daughter for tea service, but the couldn't accommodate it because they didn't have advance notice. We had tried to call but the phone either wasn't answered and went to voicemail-which said book a table on OpenTable or when it was answered by a person was told the same thing. Anyway. Food was just *ok*, nothing special and expensive for what we got. Rabbit hole downstairs closed for renovations but seems like it has been closed for a while. Won't be coming back anytime soon. Our waiter was fantastic, best part of the visit.

We popped in given the high reviews on various apps and given that we were visiting from Ann Arbor and we don't know local places in Birmingham. We had the same experience as Samantha M: there were many empty tables in this restaurant, and we were turned away as well because we didn't have a reservation. Given that we were trying to eat at 1:00, I wouldn't have thought they would be expecting a rush and someone could have looked at a reservation book to determine if they could accommodate us at that hour. Disappointing.

food was very subpar. was told that chicken and waffles "would not disappoint" and my husband was not pleased with them at all. the crab cakes were nothing to write home about. will not be going there again.

Have to say I'm disappointed in my 1st experience after hearing so many good things. Service was very slow for a party of 2. My food came out wrong and it took them longer to remake my dish then the initial order arriving to the table. My partners pouched eggs came out over cooked. More like a soft boiled egg. The breakfast potatoes have a burnt taste. You should remove those small diced potatoes from the menu they are cheap and taste awful. Overall not dying to return. I really wanted this to be better.

We were lucky enough to have Jason the front end manager/bartender as our waiter. Wow! That was like winning the lottery. He was so amazing! I ordered my first ever Old Fashioned, and after I ate the cherry too early, he helped me out learning so much about the drink, how it's made and everything. Then I had a Manhattan because I knew I'd never have one made by such an esteemed drink artist. My wife and I, out on a much needed date both had the steak. It was melt in your mouth delicious. This was our first date night, without child, since before the pandemic, and it was truly a magical experience. I am so grateful we chose Mad Hatter as our spot.

The place is very neat but the carpet and basement are very dirty and musty smelling! They need to rip that carpet out and fit the basement! It's a great space abs has definite potential. The food was good..

Mother's Day brunch we left because there was one waiter for 10 tables and one cook no bartender. Waited 45 Mins with only water many people left too. Waiter was scrambled dropped our drinks everywhere.
