Outstanding food, great service, extremely cozy (maybe 2 dozen seats?). Started with a variety of oysters (the housemade kimchi was excellent), followed by tinned tuna belly with their housemade briny jardiniere, ending with maybe the best lobster roll I've ever had (no mayo, some chili oil heat) and perfectly prepared broccolini. The broccolini was actually on the tasting menu but they were generous enough to make it as a standalone side for us because we wanted to experience enough other things. Can't say enough good things about our dinner. Cocktails and dessert were really good too, though the dinner was on a level above.

Mink was absolutely phenomenal, from the food to the service to the wine. We got the tasting menu and added on the option beverage pairing and a tinned fish and came out stuffed! The dishes were well rounded and wine paired perfectly with each course. They were also very attentive to any food allergies and the chef paid careful attention to prepping each dish with this in mind. We will 100% come back here, I’m interested in trying their special weekday ramen too! As a couple that loves The Royce, Mink certainly did not disappoint :)

What the actual hell? I feel like I was punked... I heard at the end of the meal that the chef was out of town sooo... giving "some"grace. However, it was not good. I got the meal... my husband got oysters and the lobster roll. Oysters were good, lobster roll decent but soggy. The chefs meal was... a downward spiral. The puttanesca was funky and off putting. The sturgeon was yuck (polenta was yum)). Dessert was fine but at that point we were trying to cleanse our palette. So bummed... been looking forward to trying this place for awhile.Service was attentive, nice but really didn't asked or want to ask if we liked the course.

This is easily one of my favorite spots in Detroit. Each time I visit I do the chefs tasting. I love being able to interact and discuss with the chefs. The servers are incredibly personable and warm. Everything about the experience is worth it, every time.

I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant over the weekend. At Mink, it's all about seafood. If that's not your jam, move on. If it is, read on. They have a fixed price menu, oysters, tinned seafood, and caviar. The restaurant only has 3 tables plus a counter that would seat 5 couples. Wine list is very small, but great. Note that the price of the food is high to very high. Be prepared to throw down some $$$ if you want to do things right. The tasting menu food was really good, and I would highly recommend that. We ordered a dozen extra oysters, and my BF said they were the best he's had in Detroit. Of the oysters, our favorites were: 1) Baywater Sweet, 2) Love Shuck, and 3) Raspberry Point and Sand Dune (tie). The service was very attentive and knowledgeable. We liked the suggestions our waitress made for our wine selections. We liked it and would go back.

We are generally critical and hard to please when it comes to good food. This place when above and beyond. Highly recommend. Thanks Jess.

Wow. What an absolutely fantastic final dinner of 2023! After we managed to find a late dinner reservation for New Year's Eve, it was a relief to discover that our excitement about the tasting menu was well-placed. I would definitely recommend the drink pairings as well! The amuse-bouche featuring oysters from the West and East coasts was a delightful way to splash into the meal. The wasabi and the mangosteen featured in each of the oysters, respectively, complimented the beautiful brine of the oysters in such a wonderfully playful way. This first tasting urged us to pause the menu progression and order an extra dozen oysters to explore the other possibilities. Tasting from Vancouver to Prince Edward Island, they were beautifully prepared and of excellent quality. The first course of lobster salad felt like a summer in Maine. Not that I've ever been to Maine, but the imaginary scene flashed across my vision as I took that first refreshing bite. The grapefruit emulsion worked almost majestically with the light, refreshing flavor of the lobster salad. The tapioca chip was perfect for the crunch to fully bring the different elements of the dish together. A fascinating intersection of refreshment and comfort. The second course was the potato pavé. I'll be thinking of this potato often for the foreseeable future. It was one of those dishes that makes your eyes pop open a bit when you bite it as you realize how good it is. A beautifully layered and seared rectangle of flaky delicious potato resting with a lovely salsa brava speckled with trout roe, topped with tarragon, cured trout, and black truffle flakes. I don't even know what else to say. It was stunning. Sea urchin buttered ramen, the third course, will always be what I wish my at-home thrown-together ramen could be. It was rich, it was luscious, it was comforting. Growing up in southeast Texas, crawfish boils were always some of the most exciting times of the year. The crawfish tails in the ramen brought me back to those summer days eating crawfish with a cold beer. The duck breast for the fourth course was exceptionally cooked. It was juicy and flavorful and made a perfect bite with a bit of cauliflower, raisins, apricot, agrodolce, and foie-sauce. Each bite was such a symphony of flavor that kept me coming back. Last but absolutely not least was the gâteau ardéchois: the chestnut cream cake. Accompanied by cranberry coulis and crispy meringue bites, this dessert was a sweet but still mellow finish. While the coffee mascarpone ice cream was a robust and complementary flavor, we both agreed the vanilla coconut ice cream was the star between the two. Thank you again to the stellar crew at Mink! Happy New Year!

Great experience dining to celebrate the new year with my significant other. Cozy and intimate oyster bar where you can interact with the knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming staff and culinary crew. Amazing dishes (we had the chef's tasting) that really bring out the best in the seafood featured in each plate. Wine pairings were on par with each course and were creative additions. Dessert was perfect and the ice cream was an enjoyable accompaniment. Have been to Marrow many times (always pleased) and will be back at Mink!

Wanted to try a new seafood restaurant as part of our holiday celebrations and Mink did not disappoint. Dare I say that this was probably the best tasting menu I have ever experienced in my whole life? Oh yes, I dare. The restaurant is intimate and very warm and inviting. The staff was excellent--friendly and the courses were well-paced. And the food? Oh myyy. So delicious. We started off with the east and west coast oysters. I am a fan of the east coast brine so that one was my favorite. Next was the lobster salad. This is probably one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. The Tristan lobster was so sweet and tender. The presentation was gorgeous. If this was the only dish I'd eaten at Mink, I would be more than satisfied. Perfection. The ramen with uni was up next and there was so much rich flavor. Delicious. Next was a beautiful potato dish with vegetables from Afghanistan. Wonderful flavors and textures. Then we had the duck. I don't usually eat meat, but I wanted the full tasting menu so decided to try it. It was good, but I am not a fan of duck unless it's prepared with a crispy skin like at Asian restaurants. So this was my least favorite and I really should have gone for the salmon option instead. That decision was all on me. Afterward was the most delicious dessert. Happy belly. This meal will be one that others will be judged against. Looking forward to coming back to Mink.
