Well the grounds are beautiful. Paying in average $100-150 per person you shall expect top quality. Well, it's not really the case. Getting a hard reheated bread dumpling is unexpected. So over seasoned salted food. I'm more than happy to pay for quality food but after complaining the chef Petr (eventually the owner) coming to the table while the main entrance was delivered asking to leave the restaurant..... shame on them!!! these people don't deserve my $$$..... they ruined a birthday celebration dinner!!!! Ohhh btw no wondering there is a war in Ukraine!!!!! With this behavior I'm not surprised......

To be quite honest, simply writing a review doesn't encompass my experience at the Royal Eagle. Being my birthday, my friend surprised me with a romantic evening at the Royal Eagle. I was so impressed by his effort, everything about this evening was perfect! He told me weeks ago that he had a special surprise for my birthday celebration. Of course, I was trying to figure out where we were going. His only words to me....show no tattoos and dress modestly. To be honest, I was in shock! Where could he possibly be taking me? He also mentioned that they do not serve alcohol but we were able to bring in our own bottles of wine. He picked me up and swept me away for a few cocktails before our evening began. I was so excited to see where he was taking me. He always says it's a challenge to surprise me, but this time he truly pulled it off. We drove into a neighborhood, which I was not familiar, I found it rather strange that a restaurant would be situated in such a location. You can only imagine my surprise when we pulled up to the most stunning structures resembling Old Time Russia. We had arrived at the Royal Eagle which is part of a monastery. Walking through the grounds, you could feel the energy of this spiritual place. I was mesmerized by the quaint space and overall decor. I was also surprised to find out how difficult it was to get a reservation. They only serve dinner one night a week so getting in is an epic feat! We decided to get an appetizer and of course uncork our special wine. It was nice to be able to bring our own wine and they don't charge a cork fee. Our entrees were absolutely fantastic. I had the rack of lamb and he ordered a specialty chicken dish. We always share our dishes that way you get to enjoy more! lol The dessert was absolutely fantastic, lavender infused creme brulee! We are still talking about this dessert. It left an impression on our palates. :) YUMMMMM We can't wait to come back in the summer when we can spend some time walking the grounds and enjoying the beautiful gardens. My friend most certainly outdid himself this evening. It was a night of a lifetime and I was so fortunate to be able to spend it with him.

Things started out very well. Nice amuse bouche, table of several sharing several very good appetizers. And then things went south – kitchen must have been overwhelmed. Significant (more than 30 minutes) gap between appetizers and any acknowledgement that mains were even near completion. Mains, when served, appeared to have been under the lights for a while – fish courses had dried out a bit, cream sauces had started separating. For the money, the form (fine) of dining, and the fact that they’ve been doing this for a long time I would’ve expected the service to much smoother and coordinated. The restaurant allows bring your own wine (only wine), and working our way through our supply of champagne helped the time pass.

Borscht , sandwiches, paparika chicken were very good. Chocolate cake was the best ! The price was reasonable , but don't be in a rush. Bring a bottle of wine !

A very unique restaurant located on the grounds of St. Sabbas the Sanctified Orthodox Monastery. They are only open for dinner on Thursdays from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. Because it is very small in the first place, with limited hours, and still not at full capacity because of social distancing (they said at 40%), reservations can be difficult to get. The gardens are magnificent and you can see peacocks and even albino peacocks walking around. It makes for a great post-dinner stroll. The cuisine is predominantly Eastern European/Russian. The portions are very ample. All of the food was good. They don't sell alcohol, but you may bring your own wine. The waitstaff are all very friendly and efficient, but not as polished, as they are parishioners. Four of us ate and, sharing two appetizers and two desserts, the bill averaged about $60.00 per person, without a gratuity. I included a copy of tonight's menu to let you see the pricing. Because it is on religious property, there is a printed dress code on their website. Clothing such as shorts, leggings, capri pants and anything revealing bare shoulders are not permitted. It would be advisable to look at the website before going, because the rules are strictly enforced. Please avoid leaving any negative comments to this code. This is part of a monastery, so they are entitled to ask you to observe their requirements. If you find them objectionable, just select a different restaurant.

I enjoyed my first two visits to this restaurant immensely, having been here once for tea and once for dinner. I was anxious to share the experience with a few friends recently. The borscht continues to be very good, and the tea sandwiches are what you expect at most tea houses. It is exceptional to have a hot chicken dish prepared, however this time the chicken was a disappointment. There was a lot of fat on at least two of the portions. Additionally, it was called chicken paprikash, but there was no sauce. It was just a baked chicken breast sprinkled with a lot of paprika. The ambience here is always delightful, with a lot to take in and enjoy. Before leaving we each used the restroom. Oh my! We were the first group there at 11:00 am on a Thursday. The last day the restaurant would have been open was the previous Tuesday. So, two days to clean the restroom before it opened on Thursday. The trash can was filled to the top with used paper towels. The toilet was filthy. Talk about a turn-off. It was really, really bad. It made each of us feel as though we didn't even want to use the restroom, but you know how it is when you have to go. Since I was the one who was bringing the other three people for their first experience here, I felt embarrassed. On the positive side, our waitress was very helpful, and the chef allowed us to go inside the church to have a peek around and also opened the gift shop so we could do a little shopping. I am undecided as to whether I want to return after this visit.

I really don't know how anyone can give the Royal Eagle anything less than 5 stars! The food is remarkable the service is great. Ok, they served the Borscht how instead of cold (I prefer cold), but it was still excellent. The high tea is a seven course meal....all excellent.

This restaurant is my number one site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this place. everytime I want to go to a good meal, this place comes straight to my mind. Great and all kinds of food and a large list of dishes.generous crew, and pleasant ambience. In addition to that, the tariff is decent. I tell about this spot with pleasure.

This is the sort of place you need to visit. It's a huge complex, in as old school of a Russian style as you can imagine, in the middle of a residential street. Once you are inside the grounds, it's gorgeous. That alone is worth a trip, but the whole thing is funded by the best fine dining on the east side. When we went in fall 2019, there was a charming cat with a limp on the grounds. They were in the process of finding it a home, but I think it really fit in well there. Food was excellent. Every course amazed us.The whole thing is run by a strict, but personable woman who is as animated as the location itself..I can't say enough lovely things about this place. It's worth a visit.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Being that it's in a residential area, I wasn't expecting much. I was completely proven wrong. Even in the middle of winter, the grounds are amazingly beautiful. Moving onto our dinning experience. It's was top notch. The food was fine dining on all levels. I left nostalgic of my Croatian grandmothers cooking. I can't wait to return!

This is a very unique place located in the middle of a suburban subdivision. Went there on a Thursday night for dinner, we had two appetizer champagne shrimp & portobello mushrooms the champagne Prawns were just cold shrimp served with cocktails sauce nothing special the garlic sautéd mushrooms were ok. Three dinner rolls were brought to the table and one of the three was as hard as a rock. we had the pear and feta salad which was good. Time stood still for an hour before we got our main course Beef Wellington and Lamb Chops. The Lamb Chops were tough and undercooked, poor grade of meat could not even eat them. The Beef Wellington was prepared in the morning and then reheated so the filet inside was way over cooked and dry and tasteless. Brussel sprouts were the vegetable for both meals and also were undercooked and tasteless. we had desert flourless chocolate cake which tasted like it was store bought not prepared by s chef.. Final thoughts i would go back for a tour of the church and grounds in the summer when everything is in bloom, it looks like it would be beautiful. I would defiantly skip the dinner.

This is a hidden gem! We had randomly heard about Royal Eagle through the grapevine! They do not disappoint! The inside is absolutely beautiful! We came during the colder months so they have everything ala cart. The crab cakes were amazing! I also really enjoyed the borscht (if you like borscht you have to try it). The Beef Wellington was also amazing. When you go, you must get at least one dessert!!!! Everything is made fresh and is very unique. We were told that during the warmer months, there is a 5 course meal option that we are really looking forward trying! Royal Eagle is bring your own wine. No alcohol is served. It was great! I highly recommend coming and trying Royal Eagle! You will not be disappointed in this special place!

Food not wonderful shrimp overcooked cold in shell with bottled cocktail sauce, soup not very Russian and insipid flavor, sorbert excellent, rack of lamb with pistachio crust was ordered rare and was served rare with burnt crust, strawberry Romanoff was served with quartered berries whipped cream and a bit of custard! For $75. and 20. tip I was disappointed.

Even though we had lived just a short 40 min away , this monestaray tucked away is something most will not easily stumble upon. It is not meant to be a tourist attraction , kept to a higher level of respect for truly what it is , a monestaray. However it is one that welcomes guests certain days of the week for Prayer, and certain days of the week to enjoy a special high tea ,( 2 hours ), or a longer dinner meal in the evening ( 5 hours). Absolutely a peaceful , comfortable , unique gourmet dining experience , in a quiet neighborhood ,surrounded by beautiful gardens . The Staff ( volunteer) was lovely , and Natasha added to our experience , with the interesting information she shared with us, and made our experience all the more delightful. My girlfriends and i came for the high tea this fall, but hope to organize a group for dinner this coming summer when the gardens will be peek
