“Food is great never had an issue, Me and the family at least try to get pizza from here 3 times a month. Best pizza place in town, Next time you go in order the large BLT pizza substitute the cheddar cheese add extra mozzarella. We get it everytime trust me its well wroth it and the silli sticks are amazing as well.”

We got to make some minor changes to our meals when we ordered and the food was hot, fresh and delish! I'm from a busy city so a little background music would be nice but, great if your looking for a quiet spot.Parking: This is a quaint place to dine with sufficient parking.”

“I love the skillet breakfasts! Every one of the waitresses are nice and accommodating. The atmosphere is a home town diner and has been completely renovated since their fire. I'm so glad they fixed the damage and re-opened”

“Vegetarian options: The owner is super nice, makes me and my wife feel like family. Very sweet and friendly staff. The food is amazing. Cooked to perfection. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. My 1 year old and I felt welcome and not out of place they even had highchairs for different tables so even if we sat at a high-top table my son would have been easily accommodated. The food was incredible! I can't wait to go back!”

“Solid food served in a log cabin setting. Servers are fast and efficient. The breakfast offerings are the bomb! Pancakes, sourdough toast, raisin toast are all good. Hash browns are served crispy on both sides. On my third visit, I tried a Mexican omelette that is made with 3 eggs folded around a seasoned ground beef filling, topped with cheese and their signature coney sauce. It was wonderful! I took half of it home and it warmed up as a great second meal. Cant wait to continue trying other menu items.”

“Very nice place to have a quite breakfast. Owner was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has a lot of interesting old pieces of items to look at, such as guns , saws, products, snowshoes, sleds. Oh you have to see it for yourself. Go and enjoy.”

“I've been wanting to visit this place for a long time. The Ribeye I ordered medium and it was cooked perfectly as were the shrimp on top. The prime rib that was raved about really was mediocre though. I'm still drooling over the French onion soup. That would be amazing over the prime rib.The staff was really great, there was a new guy who did a good job and an experienced gal, she was holding it all down while also guiding him. She should be commended for being so great!Upon entering I felt awkward because it was a banquet hall with minimal decor and despite many other diners it was dead silent, eventually there was some quiet music that played.Suggestion for the dining area, To hide the stuff at the back of the room, build some wooden dividers that are on casters so they're mobile for events.Get whisky barrell flower planters, also on casters, 10ft 4x4s and cement them in and put them around the room and hang Edison lights across the room. Both of these examples are on Pinterest and would make a much more intimate experience in such a cold awkward space.”

“Recently moved down to the area from the UP, and love the atmosphere here. This place has a genuine yooper bar feel to it, that is tough to find below the bridge.”

“Really enjoyed this place. Sadly, we were there on a Saturday night at 10pm, and only 6 people were in the bar. Very homey, relaxed atmosphere. The waitstaff is amazing! Personable and friendly. “Excellent service, great waitress and food was excellent. Will definitely stop here again when in the area. My wife had the cod dinner and she said it was great and I had the liver & onions. The liver is tender & mild with excellent flavor.”

“This bar is usually pretty good. If you go during the off-season, service will be great. Be warned if you go during the summer you may be waiting quite a while for service even after you get seated. I love karaoke Fridays.”

“We stopped in for a first time visit with the kids, none of which knew what they wanted. The staff was patient with them while they chose their goodies. The cases looked very yummy with all the fun treats. I will say, the only thing I didn’t love was that all the frosting is cream cheese based, which I don’t love, so that turned me off immediately. But I know most people love it. We got a couple frosted sugar cookies, a cream puff, a few chocolate chip cookies (filled with ganache), a pineapple upside down cupcake, and a strawberries and cream cupcake. My favorite was the strawberry cupcake (it had strawberry jelly in the middle!!). We will come back to try some of the other fun things they have.”

“Food here amazing and service is great we been coming here since I was young kid we had no issues Ice cream is amazing there it’s our favorite along with Dairy Queen and other new one there fries and burgers are a success and so is there mozzarella sticks it was fast to we love it and to see this place full of happy smiles since the 50s houghton lake is the place to be”

“I work at a local business within walking distance to this location. I put in an online order and then got caught up in some meetings. I called the restaurant and told them I was super late picking up, and was going to ask if they would just put it in a refrigerator until I could get there, but Danny offered to run it down to me on his break! “We love the place....small and friendly. Peggy, the bartender, is very nice. The Shrimp Shack has good food..... especially the soup. They're closed for the winter though.”

“While the service was excellent and the cook on the food was solid, this long standing restaurant truly needs an infusion of attention to detail. There is so much under-utilized + wasted space, the ambience is non-existent, the amazing charcoal, real fired cooking station is 100% not being utilized to create a destination spot and you would never know that this establishment sits on the water.Someone needs to buy this place, renovate it and create a draw where people will drive 1 - 2 hours in every direction. ALL of the variables are in place to do so.”
