I'm visiting my hometown of Houghton Lake, MI again. There is lots to do and lots of people to see. One place that is always on my I GOTTA GO list is The Custard Cup so I can get real ice cream in a real waffle cone. This trip I hot a Single (because I was driving) Butter Pecan cone. Haven't been up to Houghton Lake recently but today we took the tour. The Custard Cup was a welcome remembrance. The recommendation was Grand Traverse Black Cherry and it was extremely good. The service was quick and friendly. The price was good. Nice couple from Cadillac shared that they had rode their bike over to get "the real custard". We recommend The Custard Cup for a tasty treat.

Houghton Lake is where my partner's family does their 4th of July reunion. Their lake house is a five minute walk to this ice cream shop and it is already a bit of nostalgia for me. Service is not always spot on, so go early in the day so you don't worry about them closing down a bit earlier than the hours say.
