Navigate Trenton's Mexican food scene with Restaurantji's recommendations.
“Absolutely loved my experience here! The food was delicious and authentic, and the atmosphere was vibrant. It's incredible how close it is to Canada, yet it feels like a true taste of Mexico. Definitely worth a visit! Also, won a gift card at the Trenton winter fest, came here for the first time, will now 100% be back!!!“
“it's about time that a good Taqueria opens up downriver! I live right up the street from this place and I love it!!! it is run by a family, and they are very nice and friendly, the place is always clean, and the food is always excellent! When I go, I usually get theBotana with either steak or chorizo, their tortas are excellent! There is nowhere around here downriver that you can get authentic Mexican food like this!!!“
“We have been here a few times and every time the service has been on point and welcoming. All of the food we have tried has been authentic and really, really good. We have had enchiladas, burritos, tacos and of course, a flight of margaritas!! Highly recommend. It is now our go to place in the area.“
“I ordered the taco bar for a birthday party this past weekend. Everything was amazing! The service was great from ordering to pick up. The food was great, the meats were delicious . The size of the sides were much bigger than I expected. Everyone was very impressed Well organized and very happy with the experience!“
“I must say, if I could give 10 stars I would. Service: friendly and on top of their game. Food: o.m.g. I got fajitas. But, hot and right out of the kitchen (clean kitchen at that ) Atmosphere: amazing. I will be going back, I wish I lived closer!!!!“
“Went looking in my neighborhood for a big can of Hominy to make Pozole. I way overpaid for the can of hominy, BUT, my daughter saw the eating area and asked if we were eating. So we sat down to eat, I ate the enchilada lunch, and my daughter had the milanesa kids lunch. They were both delicious. The chicken was juicy and breaded and cooked so good. although the portion of rice was small, it was fresh, hot and delicious. The refried beans were also very good. And while i probably wont make it a point to go here, I would stop if I was in the area and hungry.“
“wow, omg this place was AWESOME, 1st time I dined in, I got the el chapo torta, it was fabulous. Leigha, whose father started this place and conceptualized the tortas, can't say enough. I struggled to finish half of it. my wife got a mango margarita which was so delicious. would definitely come back here. AWESOME.“
“Honestly one of the best food places in Flat Rock. I go there a few times a week. Never had a bad experience. The food always tastes fresh. The prices are reasonable. The employees there are always nice and respectful. I would recommend this place to anyone. If your looking for great food in Flat Rock. Come to this place.“
“I'm pretty impressed with this place. On the weekends they offer a self serve tender meat by the pound. Beef, lamb and pork. They cook their chips to order which I really appreciate as I don't like salt on mine and they stay fresher longer. The tacos are only 2 bucks and they are nice portions and on Tuesdays they offer 10 tacos for 12.99! I'm all over this place and recommend. I was there yesterday and I'll be back tomorrow lol.“
“This hidden diamond near 8 mile road is THE BEST mexican food you will have outside of Mexico. I'm a Texan and telling you this. I started coming to this place when my parents moved to Ann Arbor, MI. My godparents wanted to have family dinner and took us to Tijuana...this was in 2002. I now live in Columbus, Ohio and travel here once a quarter for this restaurant. The favors are so rich, fresh, and DEEP. The salsa is drinkable. You literally don't even need chips. Everything is made from scratch. Someone's grandma is in the back there making this ( Yes, the owners aunt and mom use to work in the kitchen supervising the meals. This is how often I was coming here! Extremely nice family). I have never had a bad meal! My personal favorites or the Mimi Chims and Chicken enchiladas! If You are in Detroit...stop by! You will leave with a smile and ready for a NAP“
“My boyfriend and I truly enjoyed our time here. We ordered a Chicken Quesadilla (app), Chicken and Beef Botana, and a Wet Burrito Supreme, and let me tell you that they did NOT disappoint! ? Everything was packed with flavor! ?They have great serving sizes as well, and last but least, their prices are AFFORDABLE. ? We definitely recommend this spot! ☺️“
“I've lived in Melvindale for 17+ years and only been in this store probably 2-3 times has a veggie burrito like yearsss ago but as my kids got older they ask me if we can go get a snack I've let them and just recently they went for lunch and I tried the veggie burrito again it was AMAZING ! so today we tried it and added shrimp and I grabbed a few other things like tres leches cake OMGGGG !!! They also have fresh breads , cookies ! This place is a hidden gem ! Must try ! Very nice owners very clean and very fast service !“
“Decided to order from here on a whim. We live nearby but haven't tried. We weren't disappointed. All 5 members of my family were happy with the food. We got an assortment of tacos. We'll definitely be getting this again in the future!“
“We love the food is delicious and very authentic. The service is always awesome and the prices a very good they give you a lot for the money more then most places give you for the same price and less quality. I think it is very clean nice and spacious. I cannot say anything bad only good things this is one of our best choices when going out to eat or carry out. Keep it up.“
“Downriver is so fortunate to have an authentic Mexican bakery. I got a flan and a few Mexican pastries. I really enjoy their pastries. They have great pastries, great service, and the bakery is conveniently located on Fort Street. Definitely worth a visit.“
“Pretty good experience with this place. Much like Los Arcos, a few blocks over, it is a grocery store but has an area where you can order food and sit down to eat.I came in here for Taco Tuesday and for $1.50 per taco, you really cannot beat the price.I ordered the carne, pollo, and chorizo tacos. I found the carne and the polo to lack flavor. The chorizo, however, was definitely above average and was something that would make me return to this place. If you sit down and eat, they offer chips and salsa. The salsa is definitely some of the higher quality that I've had. It was fresh and pretty flavorful. They also served 2 verde sauces and one red sauce, both of which were in a bottle. One of the verde sauces was creamy, which was my favorite sauce of the three provided. As far as the grocery store, one thing that stood out was the large variety of drinks. There are many Mexican favorites and they also sell Mexican beer. The staff is very friendly. They also know English quite well, which isn't always the case when I go to Mexican places like this.Overall, this place is worth checking out. The service is efficient and friendly. I recommend going on Taco Tuesday when tacos are $1.50 each. The chorizo tacos are the best, in my opinion.“
“Good taco truck food served up fast and fresh by friendly people. There's a lot of selections on the menu board and prices are pretty reasonable. The food here is actually better than a lot of Mexican sit down restaurants. Definitely worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.“
“My husband and I have eaten the mini packs for 3 weeks on Saturday...so Saturday taco day and I feel like they are my family who make me delicious food and I love not only the beans but feeling as if I have an extended family who cooks for me.“
“Fabian & his crew are top notch. And the food is fabulous! This place is tucked into a quaint neighborhood inside of Wyandotte. Nothing against Detroit's MexicanTown, but knowing this bakery & restaurant is 10 minutes from my home makes it all the better.Delicioso!“
“I had driven past this place quite a few times before and had always wanted to try it.Finally, the other day, I tried it for the first time and was really impressed with the food.I kept it simple and ordered the steak and chicken tacos. It came to a little over $6 for the 2, which wasn't too bad as far as price. I was tempted to order the dinner special, which was 3 tacos with beans and rice for $6.99, if I remember correctly. Maybe it was a dollar or 2 more, I don't remember. But it did appear to be a good deal. The only reason why I did not order the dinner was because you could not mix up the meats.I see some of the comments in the other reviews stating how much they enjoyed the verde sauce. Meanwhile, I thought that it was a tad bland in flavor. But it was spicy, which I liked, and the texture was smooth and thick, which I also prefer. What really stood out to me the most was the meat. The quality of it was good but the flavor was impeccable. It seemed that they marinated it as it was tender and juicy. It was also cooked to perfection. And while I liked the steak very much, I loved the chicken. To top it off, there is a bottle of Tapatio sause at every table and that is a sause that I really enjoy. That's just me though of course.Keep in mind, that this place is more of a takeout place than a sit down dinner place, even though there is seating. The service was prompt and friendly as well.Overall, I really liked this place, particularly the chicken tacos. The flavor of the meat was very good.“
“Order the steak burrito lady inside really nice I tried the Serrano sauce it was amazing she said she took it off the menu because people in the area don't like spicy I would definitely come back and get this burrito again and try something “
“Definitely check out The Taco Stand Taqueria -Taylor, the next time you're hungry! All their food is delicious and authentic! Try the Steak tacos and Guacamole! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! You will definitely go back again!“
“Are there better Mexican places around the area? Yes. But do those better places offer a better "value"? NO! That's the name of the game here. Value. When you come here you get more than you pay for. There are so few places around anymore where $20 will feed and satisfy two grown adults it isn't funny. But you'll put change from that $20 in your pocket, and get food nearly as good as if you were in Mexican Town Detroit. The price tag is what sets the tone and brings you in the door. And what you get for the price will bring you right back.“
“Hot and mild salsas were very good. Had the ground beef nachos and added avocado slices. The refried beans and ground beef were seasoned perfectly. Also, had the Al pastor corn tacos and the meat was so delicious. Not dripping in grease but still moist and flavorful with small chunks of pineapple. Go and grab some treats from the bakery on your way out!“
“Excellent place for a unique menu of food and plenty of draft beer choices. The beer menu is extensive and the patio area is the best as well as dog friendly! I would recommend Mavs Wildfire Pasta and the Loaded Tots, however the Pretzel with cheese is awesome as well and warm and soft. Wait staff was quick to set us up with some drinks and delivered our meals in a timely fashion. We always like to try new things so we tried a Red Velvet Shot and Chocolate Strawberry Martini which were both delicious! I'm not a beer snob so to each their own but i tried the Wax Wings coming up from Ash which was surprisingly, a pretty darn good beer! We could not decide on a dessert so we got both the Baked Caramel Cookie Skillet which was absolutely delicious and the Cheesecake as well.“
“Wow just WOW! Tried this place for the first time last week. We were back again with 9 people the next time. Tried everything from appetizers, to soups, to dinners. Nothing was lacking! Came back again a week later and even with it packed, all food was even better then the first time! ? pizza is the best I've had ANYWHERE in the local/downriver area! 10/10/10/10 service, food all of it! Great experience and environment!! Beats any change reasturant out of the water! From Texas roadhouse, bubbas, so glad we ended up here!! Must try!“
“We decided to try this place out to try something new. It’s a small establishment and quite unassuming but they absolutely make up for it with the food. My wife and I both got the quesabirria tacos and they were amazing. The broth they serve with it is fantastic and the corn tortillas are so flaky and great. Our daughter got the bean burrito and she ate it all which is rare for our 9 year old. We will definitely be back and would and will recommend this place to anyone and everyone!“
“First time going there. I ordered a home made corn quesadilla stuffed with mushrooms, epazote, cheese and grilled onions. My wife ordered a huarache, which is an oval corn made, thicker dough like tortilla topped with half Mexican chorizo and half chopped steak or carne asada with fresh cheese sliced nopalito or tender cactus, onions and green and red salsas. Both were delicious. The only thing I wasn't expecting was a service charge besides taxes. I guess a lot of places are doing that nowadays.“
“Food is excellent. Staff are friendly polite and professional. The only problem I see with this business is that sometimes it is very difficult to get a place to park. Even with additional parking across the street behind the tobacco shop. But when a restaurant is this busy or tells me that they have really good food. Nobody likes to wait but if you go somewhere that you're right in and out and you don't see very many people you can almost bet the food is not going to be that great. Anything that's really good is worth waiting for.“
“Another awesome torta! Got the Acapulco torta (pork, mushrooms, and Oaxacan cheese). This is my favorite torta. And I love their French fries. They fry them properly (not crispy and you can taste the potato) which I have found very hard to find. Should have taken a picture, but I devoured it. Great guac-jalapeno salsa and chips too.“
“Just picked up a chicken bowl for the first time & it was great, portion size was also great!I think it was a special for only 8.99 but great price :)Both employees were nice as well & as greeted as soon as I got inside. Will definitely be back :)“
“Never a real complaint eating from here. The food is always flavorful and filling. It's definitely worth the price as well. And while I've not eaten here in quite some time, I've heard others talk highly about this place.Keep in mind, that they are not there on Sundays.Overall, this this is worth the visit.“
“Even though they do not have taco tuesday. They do have great daily specials or better called lunch menu. We had the shrimp and beef tacos. Service was prompt, and delivery of food was just as quick. A lot of time your food sets under a light for a bit. Watching other tables how fast food was being delivered to other patrons fresh and hot was above expectations. Be sure to visit this place.“
“First time at a Del Taco tonight! Via drive-thru, and had the friendliest, most hospitable service. Thank you!! And okay…the food was the bomb. Holy moly, I was not expecting the fish and shrimp to be that tasty. I’m ready to go back for seconds…lol.“
“I personally had the shrimp fajitas. It's probably the best I've had. This was my first time visiting. I will come back.I feel the Mexican restaurants lately have just gotten so "eh." I'm glad I tried this one. But the salsa was "blah".“
“Absolutely do not pass this location up! This building used to be the old Dix Coney Island in fort Street but was changed awhile back to be one of downrivers best Mexican restaurants in my opinion. The waitress we got knows our order by heart and always makes great small talk. It's nice feeling welcomed into an establishment by the staff.Food is amazing for the value you pay. I typically go during lunchtime for their lunch combos 2 items rather than 3 that comes with the dinner combo.“
“Chips and mild and hot salsa are good, when you mix the two together they’re delicious! My boyfriend and I get the guisado de puerco and it’s pretty much the only thing we get. I got my boyfriend hooked. The only thing is my beans come out a little lukewarm-cold.“
“I asked for catering for my husband's 34th birthday party and these guys did am AMAZING job on the food. I loved it and my family and friends loved it more. Couldn't ask for better service. These guys came through in the clutch. ??“
“The food was really good and my wife really liked how the inside looked. We got take out but we want to go back and dine in. If you are ordering take out I suggest ordering in person and waiting. They are super fast at making food. From walking in ordering and walking out was literally 6 minutes and the food was hot!“
“This restaurant is amazing! It has very reasonable prices, the food is fresh and tastes delicious. Since the moment I've tried it, I've returned there multiple times and have not once been disappointed. Absolutely recommend to couples or families. It is child friendly as well. The refried beans taste amazing and so does the rice. Love their enchiladas, deep fried steak tacos and chimichangas. The only thing that is not how I prefer it is the sauce for the chips. I wish there was a little more to it as it just seems like a watered down paste. I wish there were some tomato pieces in it as well. Other than that, everything is perfect!“
“This was my first time eating here and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a Botana and it was huge, enough for at least 4-6 people. The street tacos were perfect, I ordered the Friday Daily special, Birria Taco and it was perfection. The food was delicious, the employees were friendly. I will definately be back.“
