The bagels were not that flavorful at all. They were also tough and tasted like they may have been a day or two old. It was really hard to get to the cream cheese and salmon as the server put way too much onion and lettuce on this thing. The mood in there was as if we were bothering her to be waited on and it wasn’t busy at the moment. So, this is a difficult review for me to figure out stars for. Elaine’s has been a mainstay in the area for decades now. I remember Troy Schools getting their bagels for 25 cent Bagel Day back in the 90s and my love of bagels came from here. I am sure so many people love their bagels and other foods too, so I’m glad they are still in business and glad there are options. Seems like the negative reviews came from folks who need to deal with their nostalgia & have never left their tiny little bubbles. Bagels are wonderful. Wonderful bagels are difficult to make. This place does it authentic. You could even bring a picky New Yorker (I did it, and it worked). If your palate grew up on Einstein & Bruegger's, you do not understand the merit of authenticity to Elaine's. Stop asking for special treatment.
