“We decided to get dinner at Abi's restaurant because of the pupusas, which is a favorite of mine. They are a little difficult to find and we almost walked past, but if you turn into the parking area, they are just at the back of the building. We ordered the Birria, Loroco, and Revuelta pupusas as well as the yuca frita. All of these were delicious! They came with a pickled cabbage and hot sauce which were quite flavourful. The pickled cabbage seemed to have a little spice on it own, which was nice.I forgot to take a picture before we split our pupusas, but we ordered 3 and the yuca for 2 people and were happily full after.“

“We had a really interesting meal in this very small restaurant in Columbia Heights. They have a number of Salvadorian food items, plus the usual mix of what is served at every Mexican restaurant around town.We had a mixture of dishes so we could get a sense of the food. As I am on a birria tacos hunt, we ordered those. These are pretty typical of the ones we have had in a number of places in the Twin Cities. The consumme was very good and not greasy, although it needed salt. I think I prefer these made with goat or lamb, but these were quite nice. The Salvadorian speciality is a filled corn flour patty called a pupusa. We had several. The birria pupusas, which were quite meaty, had a crispy fried exterior. We also had the pupusa filled with chincharron and cheese. These were by far my favorite. We also tried the pupusa stuffed with what they called a Salvadorian green flower - pupusa loroco. It definitely did not taste like anything I have eaten before. I looked it up, and it is from a climbing vine apparently common in El Salvador. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it was sort of asparagus-like in taste. Definitely different! Our friends had the chicken mole, which they liked a lot, and the chicken tinga, which was super spicy!I ordered the horchata, and word to the wise, don't get the large. It was the biggest glass of horchata I've ever seen. It was good, and not overly sweet, but a lot of liquid.Don't expect fancy at this little restaurant, but I do recommend it, particularly the pupusas. The prices are great, and the menu is huge!“

“This is what I call authentic Salvadorian food! I was craving pupusas and google led me here. I was a little lost trying to locate it. It is located inside of Mercado Central. There are lots of smaller food shops. Like a food court mixed with clothing shops, dessert shops, and of course the market. Service 10/10 - the nice gentleman who took our order assisted us with the biggest and brightest smile. There's a bit of a wait (about 10 minutes) but it's because the food is freshly made! Food 11/10 - my goodness the pupusas were delicious! They don't skimp out on the curtido. You can choose spicy or non spicy salsa. The spicy salsa was perfect and also clearly home made. Everything about this shop just touched my Salvadorian heart. Ambiance 6/10 - they have lots of smaller seating arrangements. Max of a family of 4 per table. It was nice and clean. It was also pretty crowded and quite loud. It is as casual as it can get. So happy to know this place exists for when I'm craving Salvadorian food! Would absolutely come again for the food!“

“We're always looking for the best pupusas in Minneapolis, and the ones at El Guanaco III win! We arrived last night (Saturday) at 9:35, and they treated us kindly as if we were their first customers, even though we arrived almost at closing time. The pupusas were delicious, with the beans and cheese well distributed inside. Also, they gave us a generous amount of curtido and sauce, which is not so common in pupuserias!!The horchata is delicious, delicious and authentic from El Salvador!Last suggestion: I always order bean pupusas with cheese AND loroco, because I love the combination of the three!Vegetarian options: The pupusas (except the revueltas, those that contain pork rinds) do not contain meat. You can also order a typical meatless breakfast!“

“My husband and I have been looking for a place with good pupusas, and this place was incredible! We will definitely be going back and trying everything we can. Loved everything about our experience!Parking: It's a strip mall so there's lots of parking, but you might have to park further away depending on how busy the area is.Kid-friendliness: If your child is used to Hispanic food then they'll love it. Otherwise, I'm not sure how thrilled they would be.“
