Came in ...place was empty...and ordered avocado toast and an egg and a can of seltzer... $9.50 with the 18% minimum tip they allow. Sat at the one table with a friend...20 minutes later got up to check on my order...had been sitting there for who knows how long...in a box. I asked for a fork and spoon and napkin.... " we only have knives...it's Covid." I asked how I was supposed to eat a runny egg (now cold) with a knife? All she could say was that it was Covid..While I certainly understand the many challenges during this time, basic plastic silverware to the best of my knowledge is not PPE in high demand. No apology, just a snotty attitude. Never liked DB before and now still don't.

Of all the coffee places in the Twin cities (chain and independent) Dunn Brothers is my favorite. Their coffee is all-around good, and their cold brew is the best I've ever had *anywhere*. (Well, with the exception of Dark Matter in Chicago. But c'mon, no one can beat that place.) Minneapolis in general has a very vibrant coffee culture, and you can get all kinds of coffee around the metro area: * Starbucks (high quality, burnt coffee) * Caribou (medium quality, easy drinking) * Various hipster places (sour, expensive coffee) * Dunkin Donuts (why did I drive this far?) etc. Dunn Bros stands out among all these options for excelling in each category of coffee they brew, from dark roast to breakfast blend. Their snacks are pretty good too. The Hennepin Avenue location in Uptown is pretty good in its own right. Plenty of places to sit, and the staff is friendly. I like that this is one of the locations where they roast on premises - gives it an all-around nice smell. Beware the seats along the southeast window though, as they can be hot places to park your butt in direct sunlight. Overall, the Hennepin Avenue Dunn Brothers is my one of my favorite breakfast spots in town.
