On my mother bday even, you could just feel the whole staff wanted to get out of there. Just didn't really feel welcome. To be fair, it was 8pm with 1 hour to close on a Friday night, but this is the 2nd time I've gone there and it's just lost on me

I hadn't been here in years, but recently did for my birthday.Let me start by saying that I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to return. I enjoyed my visit and plan to return again soon. The food was absolutely delicious. Appetizers were the pierogi's, and the spinach artichoke dip. Both dishes were exceptional. I recommend the spinach artichoke dip.I had the smothered ribeye and my wife had the salmon with garlic and capers. The steak was cooked perfectly and without a lot of fat or gristle to be found. The mushrooms and onions were carmelized nicely and everything was seasoned just right. The salmon was amazing too! It bursted with garlic flavor and held a rich buttery flavor too. If I wasn't such a sucker for a steak when dining out, I would have chosen the salmon in a heartbeat. Neither dish disappointed. The service was a bit off. Our server asked if we'd like cracked pepper for our salad. We indicated yes, but it never came. While we were enjoying our appetizers, one of the wait staff bringing water asked us if we were ready for our check. I thought that was rude as we hadn't had our meal yet.The atmosphere was nice and there were two other patrons near us also celebrating their birth, so apparently this is the place to be for a celebration. I'd have given this a 5 star rating if it hasn't been for the nuisance fruit flies I saw and had to bat away periodically.

If you've never been? Go. Nothing ever changes. It's a time warp. I'm surprised you can't still smoke at Jax. Classic supper club. Ya get yer shrimp cocktail, yer ceasar salad, and a huge slab of prime rib and wash it all down with a Gibson. All served to you by a waitress that's most likely worked there for 30 years and has an old timey name like "Dolores". Or you can always catch your own trout out of the stream on their garden patio, that's always fun.

Four of us went to Jaxs to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and an engagement..The food was great. The service was great, but there was one unfortunate mishap. A bus boy dropped a container of melted butter next to our table which sent butter flying onto my wife’s clothing and also hitting other members of our dinner party. They were apologetic and quickly wiped everybody down, but we felt that they should’ve at least compensated us a round of drinks or something for the mishap.Especially after spending almost $600.00 on diner.

This experience doesn't happen very often. So few places honor this type of dining experience. The service is the best of the best and the atmosphere is one of the last vestiges of a more civilized age.

Sat us in a corner where we were stuck behind two other tables. If there was a fire we would have been dead. My mom got the ribs which tasted off. Which to be fair it is a steak house, but they're still charging $40 for overcooked expired ribs. Just take them off the menu at that point if you don't want to put the effort into making them right. I got the Beef Short Rib Pot Roast which was pretty bland and looked like something you'd find at an AppleBee's. Picture included. The lobster tank's water also looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months.

I was just there last night for my bachelor party, and I’m still hearing from my guests how much they loved the choice of venue! We loved the food, we loved the drinks, we loved the atmosphere and warmth of the staff who even joked around with us!I made a last minute reservation for a large group 5 days prior, and not only did Jax Cafe have no trouble accommodating us, they also had custom matchbooks made up for our party! We were held up by a prior event and all it took was a simple phone call to push back our reservation an extra half hour — on Saturday night for 14 people!?!We appreciated ownership personally welcoming us and recognizing the exuberant spirit we came in the door with, and to see owners and staff working together to make our experience great was quite refreshing — the kitchen staff even took a vision-impaired friends filet back to the kitchen to cut it into bite size pieces for him! Jax Cafe truly put everything into their craft, and our glasses were always full, and so were our bellies when we left.I could not have hoped for a better experience, and I am thankful that circumstances brought us to their door and hospitality! Thanks again! We will be back!

Overall, the food and service was great. Quintin was our server and he was fantastic. Only some staff was great. We were the only people of color in the building and the manager literally gathered around employees just steps away from our table. He called us stupid and some other unexceptional and unnecessary things. I didn’t make a scene but i did acknowledge the problem and he owned up to it. Making racial slurs. Uncomfortable environment
